AMERICAblog: Thursday Morning Open Thread

Good morning, beautiful people. It's Thursday. Grade school recess tradition dictates that liars wear green on Thursdays. Don't be left out.

I like how classy Obama and Edwards were yesterday in heaping praise on Clinton and how good of a candidate she is (was). I think it's very generous and should help soothe some of the hurt feelings from this campaign. I've already started to forgive Hillary for her dvisiveness, racism and low-blows.... After that, what more can the Repugs do? I'm not saying that she purposely helped Obama, but in the end she might have done him a favor. What if Rev. Wright had come out in October? That could have been ugly. And I LOVE how the Repugs didn't get any traction by tying Dems to Obama and Wright in the special elections. They're going to have to come up with something else, and since they can't run on the issues, they're sunk!

If Ms. Clinton wishes to pursue a path of spending exorbitant amounts of money, might I suggest she look to Missouri where major voter suppression is on the horizon, and channel her efforts and assets toward helping the little people (poor, working, often elderly) who might soon be required to show proof of citizenship, such as an original birth certificate (do you know where yours is or how to get a replacement?) or passport ($55 last time I renewed mine).

That was a good day. I'm looking forward to the end of the divisiveness because I can't believe how it's affecting the Progressive blogosphere. People are so divided, I don't see how we'll ever get it working together again.

I'm so tired of the implication that I'm a bad feminist because I'm not supporting Clinton. I struggled with my choice for months, but the race-baiting was beyond the pale. I've never seen Barack be anything but gracious, and that's what I want in a president. Yes, I'd love a female president, but she has to be a good female president or she's just going to set us back. We need radical change and that's more likely to happen under Barack. If he chooses Edwards as his running mate, I'll be over the moon. The only other person I might like more would be Wes Clark, but he's supporting Hillary.

Rachel Maddow should have her own show !

as Michael Calderone notes, she told NPR's fantastic "On the Media" that she is gunning for a show of her own (the whole interview is great and makes clear that she's thought a lot about the problems of cable news). Give someone who's smart and knowledgeable a political talk show? Now there's a novel idea.

    -Sam Boyd

What Sam Boyd said -- if MSNBC is considering this idea at all, they should hurry up and do it. She's been the best thing about the best election coverage team in cable news all primary season long.

Passports are around $85 now. Good point though. I wonder how she feels about "hard-working Americans" being denied the right to vote?

I agree about Rachel Maddow - MSNBC could have a killer lineup if they had Keith, then Rachel, then David Gregory in prime time.

I don't mind Tweety, even though I sometimes wind up yelling at the TV when he's on.

He's certainly better than Scarborough and Tucker.

Obama definitely had a good day. He brilliantly stole Hillary's thunder, and that's great. What are the other SD's waiting for? It is time for the BS to end. We have a front runner who is ahead in every way, so let's do the right thing, and start campaigning against the real opponent. Unfortunately, for the Democrats,
Hillary has spoiled this race, with her ugly tactics, and her determination to stick to this race, like chewing gum on a shoe. She has overstayed her welcome, and shown her nasty side. What a shame.

Here's a post from Roseanne Barr's blog RoseanneWorld.com...Is she for real or just off her meds again?

    thank god for sean penn
who rightly said that obama's votes are inhuman and grotesque. Michelle and Barack Obama support killing live babies. He is not the right man to lead america, I cannot vote for him, under any circumstances. Obama voted for partial birth abortion, and that will be the issue that the republicans will destroy him with in the general election. He has no moral judgement, and no ethics. Instead I will vote Nader or Mckinney.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
That woman is just so repulsive.

And, Sean Penn, well, what can I say.....I don't think we're talking about Albert Einstein there....

Anyone see The Daily Show last night? The section with the West Virginian voter interviews was hilarious/terrifying.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Remember, even though Obama only got 20-something percent of the Democratic vote in WV, and McCain got 79 percent of the Repulsive vote, Obama still got more votes than McCain.

    Don't write that state off.
  • mush57 · 1 year ago
get your head out of the sand, they voted for a moron over kerry and they'll vote for McCain over Obama. the republicans will not even have to spend any money.

It's just after 9AM EST and within ten minutes the Obama Campaign issued the first condemnation of GolfBoy's smear of Obama as a pro-terrorist, pro-Nazi appeaser. More to come. Obama ain't gonna take any shit from this fucker!

BUSH AND ROVE ARE AT IT AGAIN. They will do anything to get Hillary to be McBush's running mate. Bush's speech to Israel, regarding Obama, again was based on the typical fear tactics of this administration. Nothing has changed after all these years and the sad part is they still think they can make it work. What a joke! It will be a blessing and the best gift America can receive when this administration is gone!

    IMPEACH NOW!

    BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
tweety actually makes some sense against whiny racist pat buchanan...!
the GOPers just can't stand the thought that Obama does have substance and that lotsa different color people are voting for him.

Now that people have finally opened their eyes, the Clintonista legacy is mainly one of abject failure and bigotry. Billy boy almost brought this country to financial ruin while his bulldog wife tried to force socialized medicine on the American people. People are finally fed up with the lying, conniving tactics of the Clintons. They perfected the politics of personal destruction and even tried to use racist ads against Obama. They don't deserve to have any role in Democratic politics again. They are pure slime as are their dishonest supporters.
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
If Obama can win, that's fine. I just don't want to see a repeat of John Kerry's candidacy.

Dems always want a pony, even if it means losing everything.

McAuliffe has to be the craziest man on earth. If he was selling me a car, I'd run the other way...............
