AMERICAblog: Time to make the donuts: AP's Liz Sidoti and Ron Fournier deliver for Sarah Palin

  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Just a little word of caution to Fournier and Sidoti: if you eat too many donuts, your ass won't fit in the tire swing at the Sedona "compound" (where there is more than one house).

Actually, I think that may be where this country now breaks; 48% leaning GOP and 52% Democratic.

When is Bristol's due date? I can't find anything on Governor Palin's very honest and open and web site.

Levi has landed in Mini and has been embraced in front of the cameras by Gramps. Damn that media for prying into a personal family matter. Don't they know that families are off limits?

McCain wrapped a chain attached to a huge millstone around his neck and still claims he can swim the Potomac River. Now we see lots of Republicans eagerly lining up to wrap the same chain around their necks thinking if enough of them join in, all of them together can manage to swim across the Potomac. Trouble is, I think they will be surprised to discover that McCain doesn't know how to swim and can't even float. That is, his judgment is so massively faulty that this is only the beginning of the mistakes he will make in the coming campaign for the 2008 presidency.

'...McCain doesn't know how to swim and can't even float.'

Of course he can float. He was found floating in the Pacific Ocean after crashing his fourth plane. Luckily for him, sharks don't eat marshmallows.

This is what I think of the Sarah Palin candidacy:

I suspect one of the main reasons John McCain picked Sarah is because he knew she would unite his base which is where he was having the most trouble. That seemed to have worked, so now that she is the candidate and is having troubles like we haven't seen before (mainly because we've never seen such a pick before). If McCain had picked the man he wanted for VP (Joe Lieberman) than his base would have left him and at the Republican convention there would have been a WALK OUT. This would have been a huge mistake, so the McCain minions made a totally political choice (as Karl Rove admitted) and it worked to unite the base.

The convention will now go forward with happy, peppy people who are delighted that such a far right candidate will be merely a heart beat away from being the President of the United States. Two down (1. Base united, 2. Convention a success), so from here on it will get tricky.

I believe that AFTER the convention and all of the continued revelations come out about Palin, she will make a heart felt excuse and ask to be removed as the running mate due to family emergencies. At that point, McCain will be devastated (in appearance only) and take on a new VP.

In this way, he will have solved some critical issues that have plagued his candidacy and with his base united and with a good convention behind him, he will be free to choose an actual and vetted candidate to run with him.

Now, I could be wrong, but my radar is going off BIG TIME.

That sounds totally right-on to me. Excellent post that helped me clarify some of my thoughts.

there's a precedent for taking back a really bad VP pick. it was 1972 and it turned out badly for the democrats:

HI Steve. Yes, I remember back when that happened and it did turn out badly. But at this point, McCain is pretty desperate and they are trying anything they can come up with to win the Presidency.

They have and will continue to do ANYTHING to maintain power, but that does not mean they will succeed. Hopefully, all of this will just show McCain and the Republicans for what they are; lying politicians who care little for anyone other than their own hide.

Remember, whomever gets the brass ring come November, will be able to either COVER up the crimes the Bush Admin has committed or EXPOSE them for what they are. In either case, it is all about power and winning...

o the great liberal media, which the GOP always likes to blame.
when the media has been telling us we know nothing about Obama (even tho we have watched him for 2 years as opposed to the 2 days we have seen Palin in public) that's ok with the GOP; but when they point out that Palin has been less-than-2-years in the governor's mansion, and is unknown outside Alaska, that is somehow unfair.

when the media vilifies Obama's former pastor for one sermon, that is okay; but when they point out the weird (anti-semitic) beliefs of Palin's church, that is somehow out of bounds.

when the media notes that Obama serves on a community service board with a man who was a terrorist 40 years ago, the GOP likes that, but if the media mentions that Sarah Palin currently has ties to a separatist group in Alaska that has called for the overthrow of the US government, that is somehow "biased" and unfair. (her husband has been a member of the group and she has addressed their state convention in the past year)

the AP has cast its vote, and as usual, its for the GOP.

    "liberal media".. what a joke.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
During her speech tonight, Palin will be interrupted twice by her cell phone, the first call will be the babysitter asking what temperature the baby's milk should be and the second call will be the Lt. Gov. of Alaska asking her what to do about Russia invading Alaska.

  • houstonray · 1 year ago
MSNBC Home page has a link to a vote on whether the media should back off of Palin her background AND her family. I love how they combine it into one so that someone who might think the family is off limits but the background on her is ok but they still have to vote that both are off limits. Funny thing though, it's 62% NO and only 38% YES. haha!!

What has happened to America? Seems like these people can't tell the truth for nothing.

Tell the truth GOP and its drones, trust me at the end of the day you will feel so much better. I mean, at least you won't need everyday talking points, and just think, you could even think and have opinions on your own. How refreshing don't you think.

Is there any movement anywhere to pressure AP to censure Fournier for lack of journalistic ethics? If there is, I'd surely like to lend it my support. I'm growing very weary of him--outright political operative in the guise of an "unbiased" journalist.

Given John's ever-changing positions on abortion/pro-life; and, more war/less war/no war; and, drill,, drill; we refuse to buy anything being said by the media about filpin' & a'floppin' "Painin' Palin" -other than that she is a lip-stick wearing pig. Great choice John McBush! Now, as to why J. McCain is not even a "war hero" - get real John! You were in the less than 1% of American fighter pilots that were not competent enough to keep from being shot down in Vietnam. You were in the less that 1% of the shot down incompetents that did not evade capture. You wer in the less than 1% group of POW's that cried, confessed, surrendered, gave away locations of troops and bases - in other words, became a torture victim traitor. Let's tell it like it was, John & "Painin' Palin". You both suck when it comes to telling the truth about where this country is, and who brought it there.
