AMERICAblog: Tony Snow, 53, is dead from his bout with colon cancer
Indigo

Tony Snow, R. I. P. 53 is awfully young to have colon cancer, let alone to pass away so soon. Be wise, all you wise young folks. Regular scanning for colon cancer is recommended.

Katie Couric's husband died of colon cancer when he was 42. I had a colonoscopy 5 years ago. After hearing this story, I'll be calling my doctor to see about having another one. FYI You don't have to be awake for this proceedure. I wasn't.
hardeknox
I didn't mind the procedure as much as the terrible dreck I had to drink to dump my bowels. A three day liquid diet wasn't good enough for them. What I really disliked was getting the bill because the hospital used my old insurance info. What the real company paid was a third of what I was billed.

Well, even though he was a liar.... albeit a charming one, I don't wish any ill on him (not that it would matter now) or his family. Especially since my dad died of colon cancer too. More than I can say about Helms and Falwell. RIP

Sorry to hear this, it is awfully early in a life to leave. Lost my Dad to colon cancer when he was 56, there was a lot left to accomplish.

It is sad that a young person with little kids is yet another victim of that dreaded disease. Whatever his political affiliation were, he just did his job. He was quite a pleasant person, and my sympathies go to his wife and family.
It seems hopeless, but it is time someone came up with a cure for cancer. Almost every family I know has someone struck with this awful disease. I can't help but think that all the money we are putting into this unnecessary war, could have been used for researching cancer and other dreadful diseases.

Sage, agree about the sympathies go to his wife and family statement, of course all of that is sad enough. But Snow was a political whore, hardly doing his job he aided and abetted, with lies, the most corrupt administration to ever take over the Government following the criminal theft of 2 elections. Over a million innocent Iraqis have lost their lives, including hundreds of thousands of women and children.
Snow will go to his grave with blood on his hands. In addition History will reflect back on him as just one of many political whores which enabled the fascist takeover of our gov't.
Nothing personal on your comment Sage24, but I have to pleasantly disagree that this whore was "just doing his job." Having said that, may he rest in peace.
My father died of bowel cancer--it was a long drawn-out process with surgeons taking bits and pieces of him along the way. When he died, he hadn't been conscious for two months. His diet was horrible--no vegetables, save potatoes, lots of fat and meat, he drank and smoked. And died the same way his brother did a few years earlier.
I know that I'm classified as a first-degree risk because of the history. No meat for me, period. Never smoked and don't drink. My last full colonoscopy two years ago revealed nothing at all.

"Snow, who served as the first host of the television news program ''Fox News Sunday'' from 1996 to 2003, would later say that in the Bush administration he was enjoying ''the most exciting, intellectually aerobic job I'm ever going to have.'"
Yeah, it takes a lot of oxygen to lie like he did.

It is not right to die so young. Snow seemed like an affable kinda guy. I feel badly for his family losing him at 53...BUT...
Tony Snow was the epitome of the Barbizon model reading a teleprompter and bullshitting the people and lying in the name of fascistic government. I always saw in him the TV men in the film "Fahrenheit 451"...books are dead, people are being brainwashed from monitors and can no longer think for themselves.
Sad that he died young. And equally sad such a person had this career of lying to us.

Same here. The tears I shed, are for the corrupting of people such as he that should have known better.
Upton Sinclair is credited with saying something about how hard it is for a person to see things objectively when they are paid not to.
Recently I got blasted by some bloggers on some site for not being more charitable towards Tim Russert when he died. Like he (for throwing soft ball questions to President Bush during interviews) I picture Snow presenting his case before St. Peter.
St. Peter: "You know, we''ve been getting a lot of people through here lately, and prematurely I might add. Some have suffered greatly."
Snow: "Yeah, but they weren't Americans, so they don't count."
St. Peter: "well, we are getting a lot of Americans through here prematurely as well, and we are getting a flood of prayers through here from Americans suffering, many in squalor, or what have you, most of this suffering was needles, in fact, unnecessary.
Snow: Yeah, but they weren't real, patriotic Americans.
St. Peter: You mean, Republican, Neocon Republican
Snow: Ah, I see, yo get my drift, Precisely.
St. Peter: Your making this job easier than it should be.

Woman on FOX radio seemed, shocked and horrified and in disbelief reading one of those, "this just in." I was like, aww man, the administration is bombing Iran but she read that death notice. Uh, ditz, you need to get your karmic house in order. Ya know, they say we're all going to die, and I believe them.

Although I disagreed 100% with those he chose to take his salary from, I must admit Tony Snow was probably the best WH Press Secretary over the last 25 years. You might know you wouldn't like what he was defending but he could always be counted on to defend it with wit and intelligence which could certainly never be said about the colorless, indeed almost transparent drones, of both sexes, who proceeded and followed him. Its called style, a quality sadly lacking across many fields in today's existence. My sincere condolences to his family.
lynchie
He did not use wit. Look at his treatment of the Press Corps and especially Helen Thomas who he tried to banish from a front row chair because she asked hard questions. That is not wit and as far as intelligence how smart do you have to be to lie and continue to lie when all around you know you are lying. No, he was as evil as the Administration and he had little regard for anyone. Even his parting comment that he had to go earn more money while making $168K far more than 90% of the country. All before and all after McClellan and Perino are of the same mold, no ethics, no morals and most of all no integrity.

Well, it was young to die. I just hope that before he went to meet his maker he had a chance to atone for all the innocent people he helped slaughter. Most of them were too young to die too.

if you thought the coverage of tim russert's death was over the top, just wait until the msm get through trying to prove how "balanced" they are. you're going to hear so much about tony snow in the next few days that you're going to forget there's a presidential campaign going on.
I honestly do feel for his family - but aside from that I will take pleasure if I live long enough to read a death notice for every member of this administration as well as 95% of our so-called leadership.
Mr. Snow was as smooth & professional as they get, but all spokespeople are merely paid shills and we'd all do better to pay less attention to what the powers that be are TRYING to tell us and instead try to see what's REALLY going on for ourselves - of course this would require both intelligence as well as curiosity, two things most Americans are lacking..

My father, one of my older brothers and two of my sisters all died from cancer. yet not one of them got paid for lying for an administration that sent over 4000 soldiers to their deaths in an illegal war and also shredded our Constitution to ribbons. I'm supposed to be respectful of this rotten individual? This lying piece of scum who had access to health care that none of the late members of my family could ever dream of having access to? A man who smiled while others were being blown up t satisfy the egos of his employers? Fuck Tony Snow, and fuck those who mourn for that worthless piece of propagandist shit. I shed no tears for that vile disgusting Jesse Helms, and I will shed no tears for Tony Snow. Good riddance.

I find myself feeling sorry for Snow, and wondering why I should. Especially since I spit venom rather freely at the passing of Jesse Helms. Maybe it's because at 53, there remains a possibility that Snow might have wised up at some point in the remaining years of a normal life span.
So, Tony Snow, I'm sorry to read of your passing, of the premature end of your misspent life. But if I could, I would ask you this:
Did you learn anything from the experience?

ahhhh folks let's not forget he was an appeaser - co-conspirator - chief liar - lord of obfuscation.
He lied for the bush crime family and the Oligarchy.
We can not and should not ease up on these traitorous bastards even in death. Here was a man who would rather trump power and money over the love of this nation. One less TORY/REPUKE on this earth, the better, cause, if you didn't realize it, the oligarchy thinks the same of you and I. Some just don't have the balls to say it. Some do of course, jesse helms couldn't keep his mouth shut.
What it should have read:
"Tony Snow, a conservative-fascist writer and commentator who continually lied to reporters in the White House briefing room during a court jester style session as President Bush's press secretary, has died of colon cancer, Fox News reported Saturday. Snow was 53 years old."
I HAVE NO LOVE FOR THESE REPUKES - AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU....

Tony Snow lost his mother when he was 17 to colon cancer. She died at age 38 and now he has died at age 53. I felt very sad for him when I learned that he had lost his mom so young. I lost my mom to cancer when I was young and it was awful. I disagree with many of my fellow Americans, Tony Snow included, but I have no contempt or hatred for them. And this doesn't mean that I think that anyone who breaks the law (e.g., Bush) shouldn't be held accountable (and it doesn't mean that I am not angry sometimes). Part of the difficulty in our polarized country is that we don't give people space to change or accept change in them when they do change. The inclination is just to continue to be angry at them as they were at a given time. I've changed over time --politically and personally-- and I have done and said some dumb things in the past. None of us knows how Tony's inner life and how his political vision evolved when he became seriously ill. I choose to think the best about him. Facing death changes many people. I imagine that the dying process will change me emotionally, too. Lee Atwater spent his last days on earth apologizing to the many people he had hurt by his political practices. May Tony rest in peace and may God comfort Tony's family and friends. I had a colonoscopy a year ago and had a few polyps removed. I hope more and more people have this type of screening available to them as a matter of routine (also a PSA blood test routinely for guys to check for prostate cancer). Tony Snow was a smart man and a good thinker on his feet (not a deer in the headlights like so many politicians). I also think he was a goodhearted person. I feel immense sadness for his loved ones.

Also, I hope all you hateful bastards don't have to suffer what this man did, but if you do, oh well. You're a bunch of sick, hateful lemmings who follow your lying idols over at MoveOn and Kos. I'll pray for you assholes...

You can take that phony righteous anger bull shit and shove it right up your ass. Maybe if you actually cared about human life you'd think about the 4,118 troops; young men and women with families who loved them dearly that had their whole lives ahead of them, who as of today are now resting in their graves as a direct result of this man's lies.
You know, I'm against the death penalty, but when an unrepentant murder or a disgusting sex offender dies, I sure as hell don't what to hear about how I should honor him. "Disagree with his politics?" How the fuck do you agree with an accomplice to mass murder?!

Save your prayers UK troll, or direct them to the families of the slain victims of the genocidal policies of Snow's bosses. There are millions suffering what "this man did", without access to the gold plated medical care he had, because of the policies of Snow's bosses. "how the fuck do you agree with an accomplice to mass murder?" pretty much sums it up. Too bad he's beyond the reach of international justice.
