I'll be disappointed if McCain doesn't have a meltdown...

I agree McCain is horrible off a teleprompter. Let this old man wing it. It should be fun. God knows what stupid crap will spew from old cancer face's pie hole tonight.
Any chance McCain can be more embarassing than Palin?
And the voice you hear coming from the mic in McCain's ear is....

Actually, they are planning to install the mic in McCain's mouth and, at that, very doubtful they can beat Obama. And if you watch carefully, there will be times when you will hear a voice although McCain's mouth isn't open. When Obama is on his game, even the entire Republican party combined could not beat him. Trouble is we have seen times when Obama is off his game and we worry about that.
True that McCain had been a top debater, 8 years ago. Clearly that was 8 years ago before he started showing clear symptoms of senility. Hope he takes his nap this afternoon as he will really embarrass himself if his reply (behind the microphone voice) is heard to be "Zzzzzzzzz! Snoooore!"

The Grand Old Party's psych party. At this time they have to psych the public. McCain will be on heavy medications tonight.
Piss him off Mr. O. LOL

Donatelli is projecting. He thinks Americans are blind, deaf, and dumb. He's not too far off the mark with some in the Republican party, but the middle? Not so much.

Ever since Palin has been on CBS, I have heard numerous middle aged white repubs calling lefty talk radio announcing they will now vote for Obama.

why are people saying mccain is so great off the cuff? lately he seems very flustered when asked an unexpected question, not to mention his confusion ...and his temper....there is a difference between a good debater and someone who is argumentative

Does anyone know a web site where one can watch the debate online?
CNN and CSPAN don't seem to have it, nor does the HRC.
Pretty hilarious. Obviously he's never seen Obama in person in action. The guy is brilliant at thinking on his feet.

McCain's guy at the RNC, Frank Donatelli, established the GOP's baseline for the debate. They're convinced McCain will dominate tonight:<<<<
I guess you see what you want to see. I know McCain was a good debater. But this week he just seems way off his game. He looks terrible, he sounds good when talking about personal things and the past. He seems to have a deficit while talking about ideas and how he would do things in the future. The whole week was like a game with rules made up as time went by.

Which makes you wonder if Donatelli also believes in Santa, the Easter Bunny, elves, fairies, fairy godmothers, Martians, etc. Me, I am a big, big fan of fantasy, but know the difference between reading that stuff and the real world. If not the good fairy, Donatelli obviously believes in the GOP fairy.

OTOH, everyone agreed Bush sucked and Kerry won the debates last time. It isn't just what you know. It's how you're portrayed.

True, but Kerry never cracked the 50 percentile in the polls as Obama has been doing lately. It is still close, but McCain's leadup to this debate has seriously hurt him in the public eye.

McCain's behavior wasn't all that erratic. He accomplished one of his goals and that was to take the spotlight away from Obama. He failed in the bigger goal which was to have tonight's debate postponed until October 2 which would have required canceling Palin's debate. He's batting 500 going into the debate. I'm certain he will be batting 1000 by the end of the evening. Not that he will fool thinking people who support Obama. He will be aiming at independents and fence-sitters in the battleground states. He will reassure them tonight with quick, brash answers on national security. Next week he'll have to come up with another reason to cancel the Palin-Biden debate.

Brother! If you believe that, the Republicans have already sold you the bridge, many, many bridges. Pailn was the least qualified and most vacuous candidate ever nominated for Veep even considering Agnew, Quayle, Reagan and including Bush, who is really the veep, not the president. That she pulled all the attention away from Obama simply demonstrates the core Republican voters enthusiasm for dimwitted stupidity, ineptness and incompetence. Not even the Republican leaders anticipated such a reaction from their core. BTW, I would also claim that Nancy was the real power behind the throne in the Reagan administration as we know that Reagan was suffering from Alzeheimers, especially in his second term.

You illustrate my point by bringing up Reagan and Bush. Knowledge, judgment, fitness for office are not important. It's the lingering effect that matters. Doesn't Reagan remind you of your kind old grandfather? Wouldn't you like to drink a beer with Bush? The more we laughed about one's age and the other's smirkiness, the stronger they got. And it's not what you and I believe that counts. In order to win McCain and Obama must persuade the undecideds in the battleground states. Can you imagine being undecided in this election? That is the mentality we're dealing with. These are the people who believe that Sadam Hussein was responsible for 9/11. Already the media has accepted, despite evidence to the contrary and weeks of bashing from the McCain camp, the notion that McCain heroically suspended his campaign in order to focus on the bailout. McCain may have succeeded with the undecideds last night by repeating that Obama doesn't know what he's talking about. Now you can expect McCain ads showing Obama agreeing with McCain on the important issues and not understanding foreign policy. What will be Obama's defense? Demonstrating to the undecideds that he's a wonky egghead?

BOTH campaigns are now lowering expectations, making it seem like both Obama and McCain are drooling, stammering mental deficients like Lenny in "Of Mice and Men." It's hilarious!

McCain's trying to weasel out of the debates was the ultimate Public Relations lowering-the-bar move.

At this point in America the truth will reign. McCain doesn't have it, that's why the psycho behavior this week. It wasn't brilliant politics, it was childish and crazy....erratic and looks like he's pissed off alot of people.
