AMERICAblog: Tragically under-stimulated

  • Deacon_Blues · 1 year ago
I put mine in the bank. That's where it's going to stay.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
I made a bigger payment on a credit card.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Didn't get mine yet, but it will go in the bank.

I've no desire to stimulate the economy until after November.
  • moxiegrrrl · 1 year ago
I got my $1500 and every single penny went to debt. Which covers 1 month (of the 6 months we had to pay for) COBRA health insurance coverage.

    Eff them.

Reinsulated the "cold" side of the condo...starting winter here and heating bills are expected to be outrageous...again. Expect to recoup in heating bills in 2 years.

This is why I've I've had a hard time swallowing Democrats blowing kisses at John McCain's military service. Democrats should NEVER say one damned nice thing about Republicans because they always use any compliments to attack Democrats. Besides, there are enough Vietnam Vets who were prisoners of war who complain John McCain sang like a bird to get special treatment to effectively swift boat him like Republicans did John Kerry. Instead, every time I turn around I hear what a wonderful military man John McCain is. BULLSHIT! If he were half the vet he thinks he is then he would do more to support our VETERANS!
    ============================
""I take a backseat to no one in my affection, respect and devotion to veterans," McCain said. "And I will not accept from Senator Obama, who did not feel it was his responsibility to serve our country in uniform, any lectures on my regard for those who did."

    McCain didn't really serve either.

He crashed three planes, and got picked up after crashing the third one.

I'm awful damn sorry about what he went through, but as a serviceman he was one useless SOB
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
agree! Real tired of hearing Democrats kiss his ass. Republicans NEVER say nice things about Democrats know matter how deserving they are. Therefore, Democrats should know by now not to give them any props for ANYTHING!

I was going to pay off a credit card, but my daughter took a fall which resulted in an emergency room visit and even with my crappy health insurance....oh well.....
  • 57andFemale · 1 year ago
Phone bills for me. My husband's business is 1/4 what it was 6 years ago. Thanks, George Bush.
  • sweetauntfanny · 1 year ago
I got mine deposited in my account the very first day! (I have a VERY low last 2 digits). A little over half of it went for new glasses; the rest is going in the tank, gas-wise. My boyfriend is using his for medical bills. Two co-workers are using it to pay on credit cards, and one other friend is getting the air conditioning in her truck fixed. (This concludes my informal survey.)

Another reason NOT to support Hillary Clinton's tortured big to influence Super Delegates.

Hillary Clinton campaign is planning a Karl Rove stunt at DNC meeting!
  • bunnyjump · 1 year ago
I think I'll put mine in the mattress (our Depression era grandparents and parents hid money after the run on the banks). This economy is fubar and the so called experts have no clue -they can't even determine whether or not there's a recession-WTF! . Add up all the credit, mortgage subprime mess - throw in rapidly rising food costs, employment instability - and oil prices that are going thru the roof...and if you're lucky enough to "own" a house, the local government is increasing your taxes because federal funds are gone, gone, gone thanks to Iraq.

The only comfort I get is that the IDIOTS WHO VOTED FOR BUSH now are paying for it!
STICK $10 A GALLON GAS UP YOUR ASSES - AND LIKE IT! DON'T COMPLAIN IDIOT! YOU VOTED FOR THESE REPUBLICAN DOUCHEBAGS!

AND ANYONE WHO HAS ONE OF THOSE GOOFY "SUPPORT THE TROOPS" STICKERS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ENLIST THEIR KIDS!

    I feel better now.

It's $600 if you're filing jointly. Are you married?
  • Spunky_Jitters · 1 year ago
Why do I feel as if I am supposed to accept this money as "my cut" for the last 8 years of total irresponsibility? Republicans have made out like bandits: and $600 is all I get for selling me and the country completely out? Dude it was so not worth it.......
  • Michael2 · 1 year ago
As for me, I'm giving it to the Iraqi war victims fund, just to spite our great (sic) leader! What a way to stimulate the economy.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I'm going to buy gold bullion with mine since George W. Bush and Republicans have destroyed our American dollar. By the way, don't let ANY Republican try to pass off their idiot talking point about Democrats are responsible for high gas prices. Boone Pickens, Republican hero, put the kibosh on that load of crap. Pickens stated there is plenty of refinery capacity for oil and the reason oil is so high is the mismanagement of our economy and the dropping of the American dollar into Third World currency territory.

I've got a talking point for progressive pundants to shut up conservative idiot pundits. They need to ask the person they are debating, "I'm sure you voted for George W. Bush TWICE! What kind of judgment does that prove you have? Why should ANYONE continue to listen to someone who has the judgment to vote for George W. Bush not only ONCE, but TWICE?!!?" That SHOULD shut up Republicans. SHOULD is the operative word.

I'm one of those "lucky" people who ended up on the wrong side of the income line for qualifying, although, given how quickly bills and taxes eats my income I'm a little bitter. So, not only did I not get the $600 worth of blood money, I actually had to cut uncle sam a check this year for taxes (not much, but when people are getting checks from the government, and you are sending one to them, you are not in the best of moods). I almost feel Republican right now, it's kind of creepy.

Anyhow, to all those who got a check, enjoy and remember a nice short term CD will make the money grow a little bit.

We put our rebate to the highest possible use: Bought a kegerator at Sears. :-)

Looks like McCain is hiding something about his health.

McCain is also hiding something buried in his wife’s tax records.

    How can anyone trust McCain?
  • JustAnOldLady · 1 year ago
I'm sending it back as part of my quarterly estimated tax payment..........yippee!
  • cassie · 1 year ago
We haven't received ours yet either although on May 19th we got a letter from the IRS telling us that we were getting one (second letter telling us that) and that we should receive it by May 16th, LOL! If and when we do get it the $ will go to pay off the remaining debt from last year when my husband was unemployed and we had to use credit cards to get by. Cards that BTW, haven't been used since then and won't be used again unless we have a dire emergency.
  • cutepolishgirl · 1 year ago
We are using the money towards preschool tuition for next year.

I took my cat to the vet for a long overdue check-up, renewed my car registration, sent $40 Obama, and put the rest in the bank.
  • jprfrog · 1 year ago
I got a letter telling me how much my "stimulus" check will be (how much does it waste to mail the letter instead of the check?). $133.55. (I love the fifty-five cents.)
About as stimulating as golf on TV. Not!
  • TheOtherOne · 1 year ago
Paid my 6 months of auto insurance - $440. The rest of it's just in the bank and will mostly go for bills.

Although it's possible that without that $600, I *might* have decided not to spend the money to attend Marcon this weekend. But as a Columbus native, I'm not doing much economy-stimulating by attending . . . .
  • jessilu · 1 year ago
We got the max (married, 2 kids). But we used it to pay for groceries and day care. Heck, we live in San Francisco - it is really expensive here!
  • Houndentenor · 1 year ago
I put mine in the bank. It's in the emergency fund. Considering how the economy is doing I'm sure I'll need to spend it on rent or food or something at some point. Money in the bank still helps the economy. I assume Chase is investing it one way or another.
  • editormom · 1 year ago
I'd donate ours to charity, but my husband needs dental work that we'd otherwise have to pay for with a credit card. And our 25-year-old daughter will be using hers to pay for a refresher course and application fees so that she can take the state LMSW (licensed master social worker) examination. That'll eventually stimulate her personal economy with her first professional job. She's stuck working in a drugstore chain right now.

If you'd get married, Jackie; it would be $1200.....

I love the title of your blogpost: "tragically understimulated" I don't want to expand on that for fear of being banned....
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
    What rebate check? Oh.

Hey, I'm getting married though! My partner and I figured 16 years was enough of a courtship.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Why rush things?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I'm surprised you don't have anything to say about how you think two guys getting married is "immoral" or is going to cause America to experience some kind of natural disaster "Bush_Bites?"

Isn't that the way its supposed to go?
