AMERICAblog: Triump at the GOP convention

  • Outraged2 · 1 year ago
Instead of making excuses as to why the surge has "succeeded beyond our wildest dreams" Obama should be out there saying nothing Bush/McCain did up to that point gave us any faith that they would prosecute this new folly any more successfully. End of story.

The surge has been a total disaster. Native Iraqi's who have gone back home have described in great detail the neighborhoods separated by concrete walls, the inability to travel, indeed, burying the dead in local parks where kids once played, etc. The surge (ethnic cleansing) has been a disaster from a humanistic point. With the exodus of millions of Iraqis and the boxing in of those who remain, lack of power, water, etc, there is nothing successful about the surge - it has been an unmitigated disaster. Obama, like all Democrats, don't have a clue how to fight back - they are spineless - lets face it - to call the surge a success is an outright bullshit lie. To call McCain a hero is also BS. Obama has about as much fight in him as Kerry. Last CBS poll I saw put McCain and Obama tied at 42%. The stage is set for the 3d theft of an American presidential election. We can hope for a huge turnout, who knows?

The MSM polling is way off. This weekend there is news about surges in Dem voter registration. Can you name ONE kid under thirty who has a landline? No one in my family or circle of friends has a landline and cell phones don't allow polling. The surge in the youth vote registration is making me very hopeful.

JA's poll guy took issue with me on this point but I still feel the way you do...Plus, even if a pollster made x gen (is that the term or am I dating myself?) contact I can't see too many modern young people enduring lengthy seemingly pointless poll questions...

Well I don't have real numbers to back my theory on polling...only that
everyone I know has a cell phone and has NEVER been asked a political poll
in ten years. My mother, however, gets two or three a day on her old
    landline.

Boston - I hear ya. I was being a bit facecious w.r.t. the CBS poll - propaganda bullshit for sure. What worries me is the control of electronic voting by facsist rat bastards - after all, I think you would agree, they have stolen the last 2 presidential elections. No paper trails, no shit - after 8 years. And then Obama makes the dumb ass statement that the "surge has worked wonderfully" - what kind of horseshit is that? The surge has been a disaster. I hope you're right that the Dems come out in large numbers - our only chance 4 sure. The dems however have shown they are cowards - at least IMHO - spineless whimps - sure that's strong language but that's the way I see it. I have little hope for this country for the next 30 years - little hope indeed.

Joe--fix the typo, dude! (That didn't sound like Smigel's usual voice, but it was still great).

Yeah, I thought so too - the voice was a tad more "american" this time - meaning, the foreign accent was slighter

This should make you afraid for this country...Conservatives are now rallying around this lightweight in a pantsuit, and suddenly the states Obama hoped to win, are up for grabs. They never learn, do they? Palin is more like Bush, unqualified and inexperienced to run a country. Why are these people so dense?

Just watch Fox Sunday. Juan Cole goes after Kristol for saying McCain gave historic speech. Cole said. but the complete collapse of the economy, banking failure, national debt all these things McCain says he will continue those policies. Britt Hume counters with well the economy is a result of the War in Iraq, Katrina and we are going through a bad patch. But what can Obama offer as solutions. The right has decided to ignore they were responsible, blame Obama for not having solutions to their stealing and lieing and claim nothing happened. I woke this morning and I am in a nightmare. Where truth is irrelevant, where integrity and ethics have no place. Where eperience is worthless. Where history has no place except if you were a POW. Where the vast majority of Americans think Joan of Arc was Noah's knocked up daughter, where mediocrity and personal bias is more important than knowledge and fairness.
I fail to see how we find our way back to at least a central position when the overwhelming direction offered by the media and the republicans is ignore we have screwed you, ignore that you are worse off now than 8 years ago, ignore that the rich and the religious right have only their best interests at heart and vote for 4 more years of disaster and failure.

Your last words would be a great ad:

If you want 4 more years of DISASTER and FAILURE, vote 4 McCain/Pilan!

    my favorite line...

"rudi guilani has really got a tough job tonight, how the hell does he tie Bristol palin's pregnancy to 9/11?"

    Freaking hilarious! I love Triumph.

Very funny clip. And for once, Triumph the Insult Dog avoided doing his usual 30 anti-gay "jokes."
