HUGE excitement this morning all around because Sarah is meeting 9 VIP heads of state, including Bono! She will be burnishing her foreign policy credentials at the feet of legendary Henry Kissinger, so be prepared to watch her blow gaffemeister Joe Biden out of the water when foreign affairs questions come up on Oct 2. And, Sarah has got Eye-ran and I'madinnerjacket in her moose-hunteen sights: before Hillary ixnayed her presence at the anti-Iran demo, the CINC of the Alaska National Guard was set to nail Eye-ran for being just ONE year (that's 12 months, people!) from having a new-clear bomb! Kilmeade emphasized that these were not going to be just grip 'n grin photo ops; no, Gov Palin has a whole hour scheduled for EACH of these world leaders (and Georgia IS a world power).
Speaking of Gaffemeister Joe, he just confirms the McCain camp's justified complaints about how nasty the Obama campaign is when he told Katie Couric that the ad poking fun at McCain's age was "terrible" and that he didn't know about it or approve it in advance. But, as Doocy pointed out, Joe had to be herded back to the reservation and then backtrack his remarks. Boy, can't that guy ever stay on message?! And then, Bill Clinton all over the place yesterday talking up Hillary again and what a mistake it was that Obama didn't pick her, even though she didn't really want the Veep slot, and Bill wouldn't have wanted her to do it, either. Bill has so much good to say about McCain, though: he's a real gent! Old school politician who isn't running bitter attack ads, like Obama is. And Bill loves Sarah and her little Down Syndrome baby just like ALL of America does.
Since even the Clintons and Biden can't get on board the Obama express, and the polls still show the race neck-in-neck even in Dem strongholds like New Hampshire, it all adds up to: President Palin, remember that little annex next to the Oval Office where Bill got "pleasured" by Monica? Yes, I know--it brings back horrible memories and ungodly thoughts, but: that's your NEW walk-in closet for all your eyewear and red shoes and power suits!!

I really don't think you should be pushing the meme that Biden is a "gaffemeister". Not sure that's helpful. The gaffe's are really not that bad, compared to "palin the simpleton's" remarks.....

Karen, Mrs. Lloyd Richards is here capturing the tenor of the "discussion" she hears on Breakfast TV, not her own personal views. She is using free indirect discourse to give an impression of the avalanche of negativity against Obama that sets the tone for the day's political discourse.

I just cannot wait for the elections to be over. I am tired of all the attacks, sleaze, lies, and I am tired of seeing Palin and hearing her high pitch voice, continuing the lies. It was also annoying to see Liebermann standing behind her, and laughing at everything she said. That man is a disgrace to the human race. Biden is hardly covered, although I saw a couple of gaffes, and hope he is not putting his foot into his mouth. It seems to me Obama is fighting this alone, because Biden is not covered much. I am sure many of you, like me, are wondering what is in store for Obama, I mean swiftboating. I feel the other shoe will drop any moment, and it is difficult to ignore that feeling.

I agree. Wonder if McDumbass will be wired or if they'll just double his meds that day.

I agree that the economy has kicked rethuglican butt. They look really bad, and a CNN poll shows that the majority in this country, blame the rethugs. But let's not underestimate the viciousness of the rethuglicans. They can make up stuff and make it look bad for Obama, because they realize people are stupid in this country, and will believe anything. If they can make Kerry look like a coward, and Bush look like the hero, then they know that that Rovian gutter politics will work.

I dont' think the attack and sleaze is that bad. mccain has done alot, but i don't see much coming from the Obama camp. The sleaze is one sided. The more palin speaks, the more she becomes a joke. So I say let her mouth RUN!!! The only problem I see with Obama campaign is that he's not hitting back hard enough, maybe hes not getting down in the mud as much as we want him too. But, that's not his style. I'm at a conundrum on this point. I want him to fight, but I also don't want him to wallow in the mud with the rest of the REPUKES. Let's not push the REPUKE meme's that Joe=gaffe crap, lets start there. We already know where that got us with the made-up bullshit "scream" of Howard Dean. That was nothing more then excitement at winning, not the "out-of-control scream" that the REPUKES pushed.

BUSHES ...very HAPPY TO BUY YOUR HOUSE for pennies of course
Posted at 4:48 PM ET, 09/22/2008 Carlyle Chief Ready To Go Bargain-Hunting David Rubenstein, managing director of Washington's Carlyle Group private-equity giant, said firms such as his would play a big role in eventually buying back from the government those private assets it is poised to bail out.
In an interview moments ago on CNBC, Rubenstein said the coming transaction between the federal government and private buyers will be "one of the largest wealth transfers in the history of the country."
Rubenstein would not specify which assets Carlyle might buy, but did not rule out the purchase of the risky mortgage-backed securities that launched the current crisis.
So far this year, Rubenstein said Carlyle has invested more money outside the United States than inside, though he expects that to change as he bargain-hunts in the coming sales.
Rubenstein predicted he will be joined by overseas money, seeking good deals in the U.S., including sovereign wealth funds, and "we shouldn't discourage that," he said.

A comment from a PhD in history here in South Carolina, in response to my email to him about the U.S. "bailout" of foreign banks as well:
That's why the Ned Beatty character in "Network" was so prescient and frightening. He declared the end of nations in a new era where the international ebb and flow of money in all forms was ascendant. These folks with their Carlyle Groups, Trilateral Commissions, international conglomerates, etc. aren't interested in outdated notions of nations. Heck, Halliburton and probably Blackwater aren't even American companies. their tax-sheltered HQs are far away. That's why Qatar, Dubai, Cayman Islands et al. are perfect places to do business. There's no there and what passes for "there" is completely artificial. -------- I've long believed the idea of nations was outdated and now I'm seeing it happen right before my eyes.

I've been posting comments about the death of the nation-state for sometime and agree with you on this point!
The McCain campaign has already started attacking Obama for supporting the bailout. This is what they are using to tie him, the Democrats, and Bush together in a nice little bow. The flank may well be complete.

McSame didn't have a position until Obama took his. McSame took the opposite, but of course THAT is already biting him in his saggy old ass just as all his other flip-flops have.

Good morning! Today is the first full day of the Fall season and lo-and-behold, everything is suddenly something else. To the roller coaster effect in Theme Park Life we now add . . . the masquerade. This dimensional shift is a little disorienting but we'll adjust. No fear.
