Good morning !
HARRISBURG, Pa.--As Barack Obama caravans through the hardscrabble towns of rural Pennsylvania, he is making clear the politics of hope has an enemies list.
Oil companies, predatory lenders, highly paid corporate CEOs and health insurance companies all rank high on it
Among the first television ads he aired to introduce himself to Pennsylvania voters was a commercial excoriating Exxon Mobil for its $40 billion profit last year and blaming big oil companies that "block change" for rising gas prices. A President Obama, he vows, would make them "pay a penalty" with a windfall profits tax.
At a town hall meeting in Lancaster, Pa., on Monday, his target was $19 million in bonuses awarded to the two top executives of sub-prime mortgage lender Countrywide Financial.
Why would it surprise me that the media won't report on McCain's felonious conduct? Why would it surprise me when they report the Dem Primary as a close, heated race for the White House? Why would I find it surprising that Congress finds itself more concerned with the minute chemical compounds in Baseball Players URINE than food going into American CHILDRENS mouths?
I DON"T FIND ANY OF THIS CRAP SURPRISING! If I was surprised, that would mean I am an out of touch idiot.

German hackers threaten to publish Merkel's fingerprints
Mon Mar 31, 2:09 PM ET BERLIN (AFP) - A German hacker group on Monday threatened to publish Chancellor Angela Merkel's fingerprints as part of a campaign against the government's use of biometric data in new passports.
The Chaos Computer Club (CCC), one of Germany's oldest and largest hacker organisations, on Saturday published Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble's fingerprints in its own magazine.
Schaeubele's prints were taken from a water glass he used at a public debate, said CCC spokesman Frank Rieger, who predicted it would be easy for the group's supporters to collect similar samples from other public figures, including Merkel, who support the increased use of biometric data. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/germanypoliticspoli...

At least the media is consistent. They never reported all the other law breakers in the Bush Administration. They never point out lies. They did not go after Vitter and Craig with the same aggression they did Spitzer. Frankly they have no intention of reporting the truth. Americans have accepted that it is not a lie when you misspeak. And for the recored misspoke is defined as: to speak or pronounce incorrectly: They don't pronounce incorrectly they lie. They lie knowingly. They lie as a coverup. They lie because they know there is nothing we can do and that they will never be held accountable for their lies. In fact I am starting to think that no one tells the truth anymore.

Married Troops Can Live Together in Iraq
BAGHDAD (AP) — When American soldiers get off duty in Iraq, the men usually return to their quarters, the women to theirs. But Staff Sgt. Marvin Frazier gets to go back to a small trailer with two pushed-together single beds that he shares with his wife.
In a historic but little-noticed change in policy, the Army is allowing scores of husband-and-wife soldiers to live and sleep together in the war zone — a move aimed at preserving marriages, boosting morale and perhaps bolstering re-enlistment rates at a time when the military is struggling to fill its ranks five years into the fighting.
"It makes a lot of things easier," said Frazier, 33, a helicopter maintenance supervisor in the 3rd Infantry Division. "It really adds a lot of stress, being separated. Now you can sit face-to-face and try to work out things and comfort each other." http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hEI-l2_AjvNS...

A study, written for U.S. Special Operations Command, suggested "clandestinely recruiting or hiring prominent bloggers."
Since the start of the Iraq war, there's been a raucous debate in military circles over how to handle blogs -- and the servicemembers who want to keep them. One faction sees blogs as security risks, and a collective waste of troops' time. The other (which includes top officers, like Gen. David Petraeus and Lt. Gen. William Caldwell) considers blogs to be a valuable source of information, and a way for ordinary troops to shape opinions, both at home and abroad.
This 2006 report for the Joint Special Operations University, "Blogs and Military Information Strategy," offers a third approach -- co-opting bloggers, or even putting them on the payroll. "Hiring a block of bloggers to verbally attack a specific person or promote a specific message may be worth considering," write the report's co-authors, James Kinniburgh and Dororthy Denning.

Stressing that he was speaking as an individual, Dobson did not actually endorse McCain -- yet. But he did tell Sean Hannity on the Fox News Channel that though he has "problems" with all three remaining presidential candidates, especially the two Democrats, he fully intended to vote on Nov. 4.
As this election year drags on and we listen to the bullshit coming out of Washington, the media and our candidates it becomes more and more obvious that they are totally out of touch with the reality of living in this country. I wrote to Rep. Patrick Kennedy regarding a blog he posted on HuffPo. His blog was for fast tracking Phd's from other countries and claimed this was the future of jobs and opportunity in America. My letter to him was as follows: What a simplistic view of the world. . Here is the lowdown on the middle class and the poor. We just want a decent job making enough money that we can give our kids a better education and chance than we had. We would like to have a raise that at least keeps us up with inflation. You politicians took 20 years to raise the minimum wage, yet and with gas at almost $4 a gal. we can't afford to go to work, you have free health care, we don't, you have a nice pension, we have nothing to retire on, you stole from Social Security and never paid it back, you allowed this nitwit to start a war without merit and continue to fund it, you think nothing of the 4,000 dead except you wear the flag made in China on your lapel like that is supposed to make my neighbor and his wife say it's ok Josh is dead, blown up in Fallujah, you don't attend any of the funerals and neither does our President, you refuse to force Bush to show the dead being returned to America, you don't fund proper body armor, you don't fund bomb proof Humvees, you don't even buy good ammunition some of it is 30 years old and from Russia. In fact, What the Hell do you do for the money you get paid because you sure don't do a damn thing to help the quality of life and the future of Americans yet you have the audacity to write this article about giving the fast track to some foreign born Phd's. Go back to Kennebunkport and let someone who wants to solve our problems have a chance. I have nothing against immigration, I do however, hold every politician responsible for not focusing and concentrating on what we face every day. Houses being foreclosed, credit card interest raised without merit, no oversight of a single Corporate action, automatic pay raises for our elected officials, sex scandals should tell us all they have way too much extra cash, a $billion spent on the run up to the election, 3 $Trillion spent on a war which will solve nothing, $billions in welfare for our richest corporations and the CEO's who bankrupted them, ignoring the law that applies to them like McCain and election spending, the list is endless. At this point I don't honestly know if there is anyone who can clean this mess that has been created in Washington. We elected people who we thought would do a good job and protect us and make a better life for Americans, instead we got a group of lying, money grubbing, diaper wearing, toe tapping, lying, cheating, race baiting, bribe taking, incompetents who don't give a shit what we think.

Talk radio hostess Victoria Taft, a familiar Republican voice in the Democratic-leaning Pacific Northwest, said that even in her wildest dreams, she never imagined urging her listeners to vote for Clinton.
But these days, Taft is firmly on the New York senator's bandwagon, along with national conservative talk radio heavyweights like Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham.
"I want to vet (Illinois Senator) Barack Obama more than Hillary," said Taft, whose daily program during prime evening drive-time reaches about 30,000 people. "We know what she is all about, but we don't know a stinking thing about him."
Her urging has resonated with listeners like Deborah Whisler, a Tigard-area retiree, who changed her registration from nonaffiliated to Democratic after hearing Taft on the radio.
"I almost can't say this without choking, but I'm going to vote for Hillary Clinton," Whisler said. "Just on the basis of finding out more about each candidate."
None of the major candidates reflects her views on immigration policy, Whisler said. Still, in November, she said she'll "hold my nose," and vote for McCain.

As Congress prepares for next week’s testimony by Army Gen. David Petraeus and Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker, House Republicans are launching what they call a “full-fledged assault on the misinformation campaign promoted by Democratic leaders,” whom they accuse of trying to “legislate defeat” by calling for troop withdrawals.
The first step in the GOP push: House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) will go after the Democrats in a speech Tuesday to American Legion members. After that will come a “steady stream” of “op-eds and editorial board memos,” an “aggressive” TV and radio operation and an effort to “engage conservative bloggers,” according to a strategy memo obtained by Politico.
Grandma: re Boehner's talk to the Legion. I am starting to get the feeling that the 30% who love Bush will have someone fight in Iraq forever just as McCain promises. Well you know what let them. The 30% can identify themselves and be prepared to pay a war tax for the luxury of having our kids killed and maimed. I want our Dem leadership to propose an addendum to the fall election whereby every American can vote yes or no to pulling out of Iraq. If the majority says we should stay so be it. For the rest of us we should then not have to pay a single dime towards a war which is not protecting us from those who hates us.

I see Congress is going to have another friendly get together with Oil Executives. Some in Congress are a little disturbed by the record high profits while handing out all kinds of tax breaks. I might get a little excited if I didn't remember that last time these exec's appeared before Congress and whined about how much it costs them to produce gas, about how Katrina shut down refineries etc.
Funny, you would think that as the price per barrel rises the oil industry profits would go down, but no, they keep going up. I don't have a degree in economics but even I know something is a bit off about that .
can you imagine the media uproar if EITHER of the dem nominees had busted that spending limit?

So republicans and some democrats think that changing the bankruptcy laws to allow changing the interest rates that troubled homeowners find them selves in is bad because it would cause lenders to tighten their standards and raise interest rates. Well no kidding! That is the underlaying problem in the first place that got us to this place. Offering mortgages without vetting the ability to pay or the credit worthiness or even the income to debt ratio of the mortgage holder is almost criminal. These sub-prime mortgage lenders sold these Low interest mortgages Often called ARMS. with great introductory rates of interest but after two or three years the interest rate spikes. Some homeowners had planned to be good stewards and refinance before at the arm cycle however when the Market collapsed they found them selves in Mortgages that were bigger than the actual value of their homes. So it was impossible to get a new long term fixed rate mortgage to cover the sub-prime mortgage. When we speak of providing 4 billion in relief to homeowners, the notion that its the same as buyout to the lenders is Pig crap!. Even if there will of the Congress and the Administration was to provide a buyout its just not possible. The U.S. Government isn't big enough....Oh yeah I said that....THE U.S. Government isn't big enough to bail out the housing crisis.
In addition to this 4 Billion dollar proposed relief to the bankrupt. Capitol Hill is readying itself to call to task the 5 Biggest american Oil Companies. Who are the recipients of 12 billion in Government subsidies stretched over 10 years while they reaped combined profits of 123 Billion just last year alone.
I have a little diesel tractor I paid 4 bucks a gallon for diesel last week. my local fuel vendor tells me it is going to go to 5 bucks a gallon. and then to find out that these companies that are raking in those dollars are posting gouging profits and still getting government subsidies. Washington don't want to drop a nickel in the bucket to help some poor family who fell prey to some lending zealot?

Rasmussen is just out with its latest poll, showing Hillary's lead in Pennsylvania is down to 5 points.
Aquarius2; the reason for the get together with Oil Executives is so that the Washington crowed can submit their bribe requests for the current calendar year. They meet regularly with the major lobbyist groups and synch there outlook calendars with the available golf trips, junkets to Hong Kong, visits to China, Europe and the middle east and work out the details of the flight arrangements, hotel accomodations and what they can expect in the way of in room luxuries. If travelling without family they can peruse the catalog of available partners of either sex which will be provided. In turn the politicians have an opportuntiy to get help in writing new bills which will have a direct bearing on the incomes of those same executives. What a load of shit, another sham like the Congressional hearings which resulted in no one going to jail, no one losing their jobs, no fines, no one accountable and absolutely nothing accomplished but it made for good television and will provide endless video clips for future elections.

From the article in the link I posted:
"The House last year and again on Feb. 27 approved legislation that would have ended the tax breaks for the oil giants, while using the revenue to support wind, solar and other renewable fuels and incentives for energy conservation. The measure has not passed the Senate.
The oil industry has argued on Capitol Hill and at the White House that the tax breaks are needed to assure continued investment in exploration, production and refinery expansions. President Bush has promised to veto any such bill, saying that the oil companies should not be singled out."
Where the hell are the refineries these asses talked about? Tax breaks to corporations? Corporations that are raping Americans while the Senate turns a blind. Tax breaks that Bush loves so much.

Aquarius2: it is all about the money. They all leave office millionaires many times over. Remember the Clintons were penniless leaving office and now they are worth $100 million or some such rot. Even Gore is a multi millionaire. It is about them and their buddies, it is not about you and I and people who work everyday. I live 50 miles north of Pittsburgh most of my neighbors commute cause the plants and factories have been allowed to move to Mexico or China. With gas at $4 a gallon it costs $20 a day for fuel. wages are $7 an hour. so you make $56 before deductions. Maybe you are left with $25 after gas, taxes, unemployment, social security. That is $125 a week. This does not count repairs, oil, etc on the vehicle. How can anyone let alone a family hope to survive on that. Most of the jobs come with no benefits, no health care, certainly no retirement plan. Yeah our politicians are in touch, the only thing they are in touch with is their off shore bank accounts and how much was transferred their in the past few months.

There seems to be a movement afoot in the long haul trucking industry. Are the truckers in your state threatening to join a work stoppage? This morning on the Denver news a trucker gave a financial break down similar to what you listed. Last year it cost him about $1000 to operate his rig, this year it is costing about $3000 and rising all due to rising gas prices.
Everyone knows what will happen if the truckers stop OR maybe they don't. Rising prices for every commodity.

Hillary's Bosnia Misstatement Was Not In Prepared Remarks
3/25/2008 8:24:37 AM
The Obama campaign is falsely claiming that Hillary's Bosnia misstatement was in her prepared remarks, pointing to this webpage.
In fact, that is a transcript of her remarks as delivered. The Bosnia misstatement was not in her prepared remarks.
Here's an idea. If Hillary wants to help out the democratic party...let her make a minor mistake, if THAT gets news they would HAVE to start harping on the rest and make something more out of McCain. Prime the pump, so to speak. I think the media is laying off McCain, but in addition...they see "finances" as being not sexy enough a subject, EVEN when breaking financing laws. The general public isn't going to see this (unless explained WHY we have these laws, and what they mean) as a problem "so...he had money one place, and wants to move it to another better use..makes sense, how come there is a law to stop him from doing that?" thinking it's "his" money.
We have major symptomatic problems, that all stem from voter ignorance. Ignorance of democracy, history, morality, reasons that personal liberties are important, and with a lethargic and helpless view to politics, same time as some really unhealhy puppydog trust in people IN power...naive views on "good intentions" which make them not understand why oversight is so important.

O sheesh! "Liberal Bloggers say" sez Cnn about McCain's violations! I guess they HAD to say something...NOW.
I had just written to Cnn: Anyone who doubts that the Media has been giving John McCain a Free Ride need only witness today's reporting on CNN, about what candidates have raised and spent on their campaigns so far. They seem to capitalize that Obama and Clinton have raised more, but NOWHERE is there mention that McCain is now actually IN VIOLATION of his OWN Campaign Finance Reforms! This is a serious matter, not to mention how much it says about the man's character and consistency! WHY, indeed, is there no reporting of this? THEN we find out that Mc Cain has already used most of the money to reserve prime-time ad space (...that's on TOP of this Free Ride, folks! )
Knowingly violating the spending limit is a criminal offense that could put McCain at risk of stiff fines and up to five years in prison. The later would be fine with me, but to the question of what McCain should do with the rest of his ill-gotten gains: maybe he should save it for his "Stiff fines". Shame on all you Media Bootlickers!

Are we going to see a continuation of this slow and painful demise? Wake up, people or there won't even be any coffee for you to smell when you finally do...
Funny, you would think that as the price per barrel rises the oil industry profits would go down, but no, they keep going up. I don't have a degree in economics but even I know something is a bit off about that .

Good letter, it is how I also feel.
WASHINGTON - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the superdelegates who may ultimately decide the Democratic party's presidential nominee have a right to vote as they wish, and that the drawn-out contest between candidates Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama should be allowed to reach its conclusion.

The Obama campaign is falsely claiming that Hillary's Bosnia misstatement was in her prepared remarks, pointing to this webpage.
In fact, that is a transcript of her remarks as delivered. The Bosnia misstatement was not in her prepared remarks.

Check out Hillary's Fact Hub and see her twisted logic and lies that she is still spewing to her supporters as facts.

"Liberal Bloggers say" sez Cnn about McCain's violations!
I guess they HAD to say something...NOW.
I had just written to Cnn:
Anyone who doubts that the Media has been giving John McCain a Free Ride need only witness today's reporting on CNN, about what candidates have raised and spent on their campaigns so far.
