Would Ronald Reagan have chosen Sarah Palin in 1980?
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
This Bristol Palin shit is fun! What a little skank ho' like Jenna! Prob is Hockey Mommy apparently never saw what lil skank daughter was doing. She was way too busy forcing the Wassila PTA to put creationism in the classroom of the Wassila Public Schools. Nice. Real Nice. At least Laura Bush had some good sense to get over to the White House communications office to try to scrub the net clean of Jenna-Skank. Oh my eight years later and mommies don't know what kids are up to on My Space and Facebook. Ouch! Now we hear that stud BF Levi Johnston and Missy Bristol decided on ABORTION for their lil baby. Bigger OUCH. Mmmm Jimmy Dobson et alia must be shitting their boxers today.

Okay I know "schadenfreude" is sinful....but this is just getting way too much fun.

On the morning shows its become evident that the RNC wants to neutralize damage being done to the campaign by 'bloggers". It seems that if the MSM is no longer a real threat of speaking truth to power but the blogs do to good of a job uncovering truth.
To the RNC TRUTH and Honesty are enemies- Remember they like to create their own reality and wrap their own facts to fit a policy or intiative.
  • Savage8862 · 1 year ago
It's amazing how Scarbourgh, Lieberman, Buchanan all think Palin is not a tool of the religious right and is a true maverick just like McCain. It is amazing that all three can lie to the American people, all the time.
  • doug · 1 year ago
Today's DemocracyNow! show should be interesting after Amy Goodman's arrest yesterday at the RNC.
  • Jersey · 1 year ago
BQinD easy zippy, it ain't all that.

I was watching the Tavis Smiley show last night and noticed on a clip where the camera panned the audience at the RNC there didn't appear to be a face in the crowd that wasn't white topped with grey or white hair. A really striking contrast to the DNC.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
I just read on the Chicago Tribune's website that the Republicans passed a vote last night on reproductive rights which would ban all abortions for any reason with no exceptions for rape, incest, or threat to the life of the mother. So in spite of what John McCain says, this is what he will be running on.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
Since they have nothing substantial to run on...Bush has been a failure, bloody war going on, failed policies, VP pick really stinks and shows McCain has poor judgment....what can they do? Obviously, resort to their dirty politics, and attack Obama and Biden. You can expect the worst from these people.

    war without cause.
    katrina without response.
    surveillance without warrant.
    torture without results.
    veterans without benefits.

    vice president without vetting.

could he be any more the same?

the next fight will be to protect the internetz from the GOPers...
ComCast is already trying to limit internet access.

Katie Couric needs to be told that the dem/progressive/liberal blogs are simply people... who are fucking fed up with GOPer malfeasance. that's not a bad thing.

In case you missed it. Must watch video.

MCain spokesman just could not explain Palin's experience.
    He looked like an idiot.

On "Morning Schmo," Mrs. Greenspan is OUTRAGED that anybody would make an issue of Bristol Palin! Their lives are private, she says.

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno."
--Sen. John McCain, speaking to a Republican dinner, June 1998.

Missy Greenspan also believes that the McCain campaign's lack of vetting is OK, even though he only met her once doesn't seem to play a part in any of this.
  • jycrly · 1 year ago
All you pinheads and pundits(respectfully), every time Buchannan opens his trap, you lose 1 million viewers while his mouth is moving and nothing substantial is being said. Everyone wants to dance around Palin and the pregnancy issue. Let's discuss abstinence, family planning, morals, etc. Don't these issues coincide with pro-choice values? Or does it depend on the person(s)? You all can dance around the issues but Americans are smarter than to believe these actions will go unnoticed. I don't have to be cautious with my comments and you commentators, media types had better start telling it like it is and stop pussy-footing around being politically correct.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Whereas I am hardly a fan of Buchanan and most other pundits, your math on how they lose so many viewers each time they comment is just silly. If it were true, do you not think they would change that formula? Heck, even though many folks that you and I might know foam at the mouth when we listen, does not mean that is true for much of the country (unfortunately).

As far as the media not talking more about the issue of abortion and choice goes, I think the Dems don't want to talk about it as Obama is trying to court the evangelicals and the Repub's love talking about it because they are just plain nuts. This leaves an uneven equation that will hopefully be answered (and addressed) by the Dem's to contrast the two opponents values and judgments.

The issue is winning this election and how that is done will be the ultimate solution or error in how our country is governed. Let us all hope (and pray) that Obama's campaign conducts itself as well as I think they can. Only time is going to tell us the answer...
  • jycrly · 1 year ago
The fact that you commented on Buchannan does not mean that my math is incorrect. What I should have indicated was that as long as he is speaking, I tune him out as I have found that most intelligent people do. Evangelicals are thinking outside the box and speaking with forked tongues. They can't have it both ways, talking morals and values and overlooking the truth. As i said before, most Americans are smarter than that.

Awwww...the whiny ass titty babies are complaining about the blogs.

The lies, hatred and vindictiveness spewed by the likes of Rove, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Coulter, Hannity and the religious right is being challenged by the voice of the people (the blogs) . God bless the blogs !!!!

    Herbert in today's NY Times:

Here’s the deal: Palin is the latest G.O.P. distraction. She’s meant to shift attention away from the real issue of this campaign — the awful state of the nation after eight years of Republican rule. The Republicans are brilliant at distractions. Willie Horton was a distraction. The chatter about gays, guns and God has been a long-running distraction. And we all remember the Swift-boat campaign.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/02/opinion/02her...
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I totally agree with Herbert's assessment. It's a touchy road to take and it is meant to distract all of our attention so that we conveniently FORGET what happened in the past 8 years...

They are so good at distraction, it's just too bad that they suck at governing.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
What WOULDN'T the GOP, the Right Wing bloggers and dittoheads and holy choirs, and their servile MSM whores spin into normalcy? "Please, Sarah's kids are off limits. Yes, Track shouldn't have been having intercourse with the family dog and taking pictures of himself doing it. But Genesis says God gave Adam dominion over all the animals, so Track was just taking the Bible a little too literally, there. The Palins gave him a good talking-to, because they are loving and involved parents, and Track is a war hero for signing up to go to Eye-ack on 9/11, when terrorists killed 3000 American citizens and it's just a terrible thing to pry into the private lives of young American children like Track, when John McCain suffered so much as a POW..."
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Actually, even though I think the facts about how she lied over and over to cover up her own HYPOCRISY matters in the end, the MAIN issues are and should be about her judgment, her experience and where she stands on policies. THOSE are the real issues we need to address and those are the main issues where we will win!

Good morning. The stars indicate a calm day, introspective and even harmonious. Wednesday, however, the abrasive link between the Sun and hypercritical Saturn could generate outbursts that are unlikely ever to be forgiven. Breathe calmly today; tomorrow's psychic storm of stellar mischief could trigger adrenaline headaches that last for days.

    vet (1)
1862, shortened form of veterinarian. The verb "to submit (an animal) to veterinary care" is attested from 1891; the colloquial sense of "subject to careful examination" (as of an animal by a veterinarian, especially of a horse before a race) is first attested 1904, in Kipling.

John McCain's campaign theme is "Country First," and Sarah Palin's support for Alaskan secession from the United States blows a big hole in that. Her membership in the Alaskan Independence Party is a betrayal of the US Constitution.

Diane Sawyer asks whoever female republican spokesperson this a.m. about the Palin grandkid situation. Which she gives the republican accolades and kudos too (she's getting married, she'll be a good mom, etc.) THEN Sawyer asks "What about Karl Rove calling Biden a blowhard and a doofus." Said republican spokesperson LAUGHS. Diane calls her on it and republican spokesperson says, "Oh that's just Karl Rove. He has a way with turning a phrase. Altho I'm not sure what the technical definition of 'doofus' is."

    Who's getting ugly?

Obama said that the family of Sarah Palin is off limits. I happen to agree. So why can't gay families be OFF LIMITS, Ms Palin?
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
Cheers for Obama in taking the high road on this issue. I believe that those that continue to drag this out, will find that it works against him.
  • barts · 1 year ago
Yes, but can we EVER expect the republicans to take the hide road on anything?
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
Who knows? If you read the far left comments on this and other blogs about Palin and her children, you might understand why politics on both sides are as dirty as they are.
  • barts · 1 year ago
My point IS: If Palin's family is supposed to be OFF LIMITS and Cheney's gay daught is supposed to be OFF LIMITS then why can gay American families in general be OFF LIMITS from republican attack and use as a political football to instill fear in the conservative base that gay families will somehow bring harm to America?
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
Well, seems to me that Palin and Cheney are individual's, and Gay Rights is not. This is not to agree with Republican issues on Gay Rights, as I don't. Just trying to identify a very significant difference.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    well, i'm a gay individual.
    there goes your argument.
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
OK, but I don't see anyone throwing dirt at tisintx..
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
No one here is throwing dirt at Sarah Palin. They are merely bringing to light the facts about her that the GOP would've kept hidden. Everyone here understands that life happens. It's the GOP that wants to dictate all the personal rules of life, down to who you may have sex with or love or marry, not us.
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
HUH ? "No one here is throwing dirt at Sarah Palin"? Good Grief, have you read this thread? LOL
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    yes. yes.

this is not dirt...this is just Palin being human! ask Doctor James Dobson...you see it's all ok if you're a white christian het sinner.
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
I'm not talking about Palin...I'm talking about the dirt thrown by the posters on ythis blog, and it is dirt !
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
just because you don't like it doesn't make it dirt. it's the truth and the GOPers can't hide it anymore. That's what's pissing you off.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Barts: good point. Of course the answer is that things are only off limits if it the GOP who suffer. They can call Chelsea the offspring of a dog and Janet Reno (McCain) go after Michelle Obama, Kerry's patriotism, and any other attacks but if you say Foley is a pedophile, Vitter wears diapers and hookers, or Larry Craig trolls for sex in washrooms then you have crossed the line. They are Hypocrits, the religious Taliban are hypocrits. Dobson, Osteen, Robertson, Falwell are all in it for the money. Every one of these religions is after your money and the poor and middle class think they can buy their way into something after they die. HYPOCRITS
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    excellent point.

why does the GOP try to insert itself into the MOST private aspects of peoples' lives and then insist it is the party of less government?

and why on earth do they act so surprised when people call out their hypocrisy?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Morning tlsintx! You know, I am not surprised to see this article as I have been talking to folks about this very issue. My bet is that McCain (and ROVE) used Palin to distract and enrage the Democrats as to show everyone (in their minds) that the Dem's are sexist and THEN Sarah Palin pulls out for some reason (regarding family matters no less) so that McCain can appoint another in her place.

LOL, ahhh the deceit in the GOP! I would be this is making KKKarl awfully proud...
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
it IS a good morning, Polly_T! how are you?

i wonder...somewhere else i read that all this Palin brouhaha has permitted Obama's wonderful speech to live forever as a thing of beauty, utterly untrashed by the talking heads, while everyone's attention has been on McClusterF*ck...
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Very well thanks! Actually, I think that the (disgusting) GOP will come up with some horror of horror tact to smear the Democrats. This election is the most important election of my lifetime and if they lose, they KNOW that means that we will uncover all of their dirt. I believe that they need to maintain power as to clean up after themselves and fix the Supreme Court so that we have a HARD RIGHT court for decades to come.

I only wish everyone was paying closer attention to the ISSUES at hand, but the GOP are great at distracting folks so they vote AGAINST their own interests.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
Obama and Biden are taking care of the issues. we are on the distractions and they won't work this time.

my only worry is the GOPers' ability to rig the vote...
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Look did you expect anything different from the bashing? We dems did it to. But they took it a little further. McCain is afraid of little old Keith Olberman. He is off the coverage. Ha ha. The rightwing blogs are having a ball with that. They think its ok freedom of expression only applies to the republicans. What a bunch of nuts. Keith will shine wheter he is there or not. I don't care anyway because I won't be watching their convention.
  • econprofes · 1 year ago
Speaking of the weather, did anybody notice that the prayers that the Christian fundamentalist groups were fervently praying (for rain to drown out Barack Obama when he accepts the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination) have disrupted their convention? I believe God rewards honesty. To all of my atheist friends you would have to at least concede that this is a curious coincidence.

    http://www.smh.com.au/news/us-election/fundamen...
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
Is there any relationship from your comments yto the film made of some Democrat asshole who stated on film that Gustav was an answer to the Democrat prayers....? Hey, I don't expect an answer, but I sure am glad you aren't any of my kids Prof.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
here's your answer. take your incoherent bullshit back to free republic.
  • econprofes · 1 year ago
I have absolutely no knowledge about a film of someone praying for tropical storm Gustav. If someone was praying for a tropical storm, that is a good indication that this person is mentally unstable. I was making the point that it is very ironic that the “supposed to be Christians” were praying that the weather would interrupt the Democratic convention and in fact the weather is interrupting the Republican’s convention. As far as your feeling of exuberance because you are not one my parents, the feeling is mutual. My parents, when they were alive, wrote sentences that were grammatically correct.
