There is a reason why McCain Adviser says that if we "talk about the Economy, we will lose!" That is because they have no good ideas on the economy for the Middle Class. Their ideas and solutions only benefit the rich, well-off and well-connected!
China Bush/McCainStyle: “We have been taught to fear and despise China as a communist threat. Simultaneously, our political leaders and the media perpetually preach the benefits of capitalism. Meanwhile the most clear and present threat from China is their capitalism. Made in China is the most published modern phrase. By investing the proceeds of their national productivity they have become the kings of capitalism and are now the primary source of goods worldwide. It is not their pretended politics of communism that we should be concerned about. We already have that here. We have been outsourced, out produced and our intellectual property is infringed, duplicated and returned to our shores by the containership load.” The Creditory System, Hari Heath

Breakfast TV Yapping Heads:
It's ALL so unfair! John McCain, war hero and maverick, should have had his well-deserved shot at the Oval Office in the bag by now, except for these factors:
1. Barney Frank. This buffoon let the whole housing industry crash and burn by letting Fanny and Freddy "give" bad loans to people who shouldn't have gotten them. John McCain valiantly and presciently sounded the alarm about all this a couple of years ago, but nobody listened to him, since Barney reassured everybody that the party could go on forever. All Obama did was write a letter about it, according to Kilmeade. Which is just typical of BHO (as the Fox and Friends chyron calls him): just passively sitting on the sideline, looking all cool and unruffled and stuff, fooling the electorate into thinking he's master of the economy, when it's the proactive McCain who should be recognized by an ungrateful nation of whiners for being the go-to guy on the economy.
2. Jim Cramer. Fox and Friends hate this NBC buffoon, and with good reason. He went into hysterics the other day telling everybody to sell their stocks. And they did. Which made the Dow tank. Which made John McCain look bad. And so the Maverick isn't polling as well as he did just a couple of weeks ago.
3. Charles Keating. Obama is dredging up this guy from the past, when Gretchen and Doocy pointed out that John McCain was "fully exonerated" for his relationship with Keating. BUT! Has Obama been exonerated for being an "associate of terrorist Bill Ayers"? No, there's still so much that we don't know, and Obama hasn't told us. So John McCain is going to have to get it all out in the debate tonight. Sen. McCain is going to have to make the American People realize, once and for all, that Obama is a total nightmare of secrecy, shadowy relationships, and dangerous and suspicious ideology.
Meanwhile, Mika raved about her Sarah; she's "FABULOUS! I CAN'T HELP IT!" With that kind of passionate support from women, even daughters of the Georgetown Elites who live on the Upper West Side, Palin's total fabulosity CAN make McCain viable: Joe said so. All he needs to do is be less boring and "stiff" (Joe might be forgetting about those war injuries when he uses this word) than he was in the first debate. So McCain CAN "close the gap"! All of which means: "Levi, I don't approve of you and your friends drinkeen until you're 21, and Jesus doesn't either, but if you are goeen to drink, at least do it in the NEW Observatory Circle basement rec room, OK? Ya got yer fooseball, big screen TV, and Play Station and Guitar Hero..."

wait! did Gretchen and Doocy miss yesterday's conference call talking points? how can McCain have been "exonerated" for the Keating Scandal if he was simply the victim of a Democratic political smear??? which is it??? i'm worried now, that McCain won't know which BS line to spin at tonight's debate...the pressure is on, my friends.

Thanks for another illuminating morning yappers report. I don't know how you can stand it. I see Mika as a total Co-. She scolds the boys every now and then when their towel-snapping goes over the top. She has now found a way to gain their approval: loving Sara. Yaaaack.

You are most welcome. I stand it by downing my morning Screwdriver, which washes down nicely with several of Cindy McCain's favorite "get-me-through-the-day-with-my-rageaholic-hubby': Vicodin.

According to NY Times: six million questions have been submitted via the Internet to be asked at the town-hall-style presidential debate .............The moderator, Tom Brokaw of NBC News, is sifting through those millions of questions to find six or seven that he might pose.....
The format allows about five minutes for each question: two minutes for each candidate and one minute for what the co-chairman of the Commission on Presidential Debates, Frank J. Fahrenkopf Jr., described as “interplay” to be managed by Mr. Brokaw.
Brokaw will sift thru and pick the questions ......uh huh
and one minute for Brokaw to illuminate us with his comments during each question..
Can just imagine how unbiased his comments will be.....I do not trust that man.

It makes me grumpy to wake up and see the love fest for Palin and McCain going on, as usual, on Morning Joe. Today it was Joe, Mika, and no surprise, Halperin. I expected someone to be outraged about Obama being called a terrorist, but maybe I missed it. According to these kool aid drinkers, people really like Palin. I beg to differ...everyone I have spoken to, even around the world, think she is brainless, and totally unqualified. Most people cannot stomach her betcha, gotcha, trailer park language.

Listen, I live in a area where I hear, all the time, this SHIT from tiny little pea brain IDIOTS, who really believe this stuff. Most of them are poor, with NO HEALTH CARE, not enough EDUCATION, NO SAVINGS, and yet they continue to support the repukes. They are NEVER going to change their minds. Makes me CRAZY.

Fallows on McCain and Palin:
Grow up. If John McCain has a better set of plans to deal with the immediate crisis, and the medium-term real-economy fallout, and the real global problems of the era -- fine, let him win on those. But it is beneath the dignity he had as a Naval officer to wallow in this mindless BS. I will say nothing about the dignity of a candidate who repeatedly winks at the public, Hooters-waitress style. A great country acts great when it matters. This is a time when it matters -- for politicians in the points they raise, for journalists in the subjects they write about and the questions they ask of candidates. And, yes, for voters.
No press conferences, no accountability, no Meet The Press, no medical records, and no college transcripts for the Palin Express. And now, the press is barred from even talking to her supporters:
"......the media wasn't permitted to wander around inside Coachman Park to talk to Sarah Palin supporters. When reporters tried to leave the designated press area and head toward the bleachers where the crowd was seated, an escort would dart out of nowhere and confront him or her and say, "Can I help you?'' and turn the person around. When one reporter asked an escort, who would not give her name, why the press wasn't allowed to mingle, she said that in the past, negative things had been written."
The media should stop covering her if she isn't going to give them access other than pictures of her and clips of her lousy homespun speeches. Just summarize it and leave off anything with a camera. These are tough times for $$$, they should stop wasting it on camera time for her.

Yes, and if they want the campaign decided on the issues, they should only cover candidates' discussions of the issues. But they want the horse race to continue in all it's most awful forms. It sells.

Brokaw will suck. He'll equate Obama bringing up Keating with McCain bringing up Ayers and Wright. He'll equate Obama bringing up McCain's quote of not knowing much about the economy with McCain tolerating and racial slurs and calls to violence against Obama. Everything will have a false sense of balance, that's Brokaw's schtick.

Guaranteed, we will still be talking about the economic crisis not only on election day but for the next 25 years, if we survive that long.

Question for Tom Brokaw to ask McCain tonight:
Considering how you and Gov. Palin whip a crowd up into a frenzy and allow them to yell things about Obama like "terrorist" and "kill him", are you prepared to accept responsibility for any violence directed toward Senator Obama by your supporters?

David Gregory fell in love with GWBush when he called him "Stretch." Since then he has been so obviously pro-Republican that it's pretty sickening and pathetic.
Of course, he's so VAPID that if next year President Obama called him "Stretch" he'd probably fall hopelessly in love with him, too.

It is obvious that Gregory is a tool. I used to watch "Road to the White House" -- when Rachel Maddow was on. Then she got her own show and I never watch anymore. I watched a couple of times, afterward, to see who they would replace Maddow with -- nothing. To Gregory, the idea of a "liberal" is that Smerconish (or however you spell it). He is a Republican, but doesn't often APPEAR to be one, so that's good enough for Gregory. And yes, he nicknamed him "Smerf" or some such goofy thing. Everlasting love.

And nicknaming Smerconish is only one degree removed from Bush nicknaming Gregory "Stretch" which is probably as good as "Smerf" can hope for.
