Americans love to be lied to. They love Ronnie Raygun and George Sr. They know they got screwed. The S&L fiasco made them feel good because the banks got bailed out. The Iran Contra was a good thing cause Ronnie said so. Now after 7 and a half years of Chimpy they still love him. They just want some more Bible and Bullshit and a little American Idol thrown in. Go to the mall someday and just sit on a bench and listen to some of the discussions as people walk by you. We don't deserve to be represented by politicians who care about us. We are stupid, knuckle dragging masses who just want to get to Target or the Dollar Store to buy more things.

Wonder if people will fall for the McBush "I'll balance the federal budget in my first term" meme? He says he'll cut govt spending by 1/3; question is, which parts? Will he get rid of privatization, contracting, etc.? Oh, he'll veto every bill which includes "pork barrel spending" which is something the Rethugs indulged in mightily during the past 8 years...yeah, sure.
Oh, and I guess war with Iran would be "supplemental spending" not in the budget just like Iraq...
Hold on to your wallets. You may have to repave that road in front of your house...or just homeschool your kids by default...

Basically, he'll go after Social Security and Medicare, paying for his war with Grandma's Retirement Benefits.

Well, of course, but even privatizing those or stripping them of any benefit, he also would have to make cuts elsewhere to pay for whatever other mischief he has up his sleeves...

I hope that the American people realize it's time for a change, but I wouldn't be surprised by another GOP victory. People are fed up and they realize there is something wrong, they just refuse to put the blame where it belongs. It's an almost superstitious fear of actually blaming the GOP for what they've done to this country.

Sleazeball Wolfson joins Lannie Davis over at Fox News:
the FISA BILL: demand that your senators vote for an amendment that will send the FISA BILL back to the house. this is delay it until september. i think it is the only hope of defeating this bill now.

Okay, what is so all-fired important about getting rid of the old War Powers Act and instituting a new one in the last 7 months of the Moron-in-Chief's administration. And, what is so dysfunctional about the old War Powers Act except that it requires the president go to Congress to start a war. After all, Bush isn't president, but the Usurper-in-Chief and therefore has no obligation to ask Congress for anything.

McBush has his troubles...Barr is pulling 6% already...
Barack Obama at the Brandenburg Gate would be a wonderful visual image, I just hope he doesn't tell the Germans he's "ein Berliner" (a sweet roll) the way JFK did. That was cute but silly and fun but rediculous. Obama, beware the sandtraps of the German language.

The Republicans have a new election strategy. Take credit for voting for good legislation even though you voted against it.
Yet Another GOP Opponent Claims Credit for Webb's Bill by SusanG Mon Jul 07, 2008 at 04:45:14 PM PDT
First, John McCain tried to take credit for Webb's GI Bill after vigorously opposing it. Then George Bush followed suit.
Now Mike Turner (R-OH), who voted against the bill, is also claiming support and credit for its passage. Think Progress documents his statements:
It is our responsibility to provide [veterans] with more than just recognition for their service: we must also make certain that they have the skills they need to accomplish their next mission once they return to civilian life. That is why I was proud to support recently passed legislation that expanded the Montgomery GI bill to provide more funding for veterans to receive a college education. [...]
With the huge impact the GI bill has had on America and the debt that we all owe our nation’s veterans in mind, I was proud to support recent legislation that dramatically expanded the scope and scale of the educational benefits available to our veterans. [...]
I am proud to have supported legislation that will directly provide this benefit for military families and look forward to further working on their behalf in the future.

Good morning. Without a smear campaign the Republicans would not have a campaign. I think the important thing here is to just keep saying that, over and over and over. And . . . the let's not forget the classic line: "It's the economy, stupid!"

Free speech rights violated by McCain Campaign, Denver 7/7/08
Progress Now captured this video of Carole Kreck, a 61 year librarian, waiting in line this morning at the Denver Center for Performing Arts to attend the John McCain town hall meeting. She held a sign that said "McCain = Bush." She was on public property at an event that was open to the public. So much for "Freedom of Speech".--- McCain's security detail told her to leave. The police were called and they issued her a ticket for trespassing and escorted her out.

I really can't believe that about Wolfson joining FauX news. Then again, I guess it shouldn't really surprise me. I love how he says it's because FauX treated Hillary so well and supported her campaign.
Well DUH!!!!!! That's who the Right Wingers wanted to run against.
It really smacks of something sleazy...I guess Hillary is trying to get her wish, one way or another.

Well, time to welcome the Anglican Church of England and applaud their decision to end human sacrifice, cannibalism and headhunting despite the traditionalists demand for the concession of allowing virgin sacrifices. What kind of savage, barbarian, atavistic cavemen can still insist that women be held in a lower position than our heroic, machismo males, who still can take comfort in the fact that at any time they wish, they can set aside civilized pretenses and beat the shit out of their women. Of course, the traditionalists are afraid that if they allow this, the next step is ordination of cats and dogs followed by animals being elected bishops.

"daddy doesn't lie!"-cable news anchors with battered wife syndrome
It appears that Bush & Co. had an inside biography done on Berlusconi that wasn't too flattering. However, it was inadvertently put into a report for the G-8. The "White House" had to scramble to apologize to Bush's BFF. Oddly, Bush doesn't feel the need to apologize to several hundred million Americans for pulling a gotcha on them with Iraq, Osama (who?) Bin Laden, or the economy, Louisiana, tax cuts for the 1percenters, or Avadakadavra Gharaib.

"But, Americans do love their whoppers. So, you have to wonder if the American people will fall for the GOP negativity and lies -- again."
They probably will. And we saw it coming, and watched it happen. The only reason Americans hate Bush is for selfish reasons. Now, because their gas costs are too high. Americans are stupid and selfish. I tell you -- if gas went to $1.50/gallon tomorrow, McCain would win in a landslide. You think I am joking? I am not.
