Some good clips from that for an Obama ad !!
  • Wesinoregon · 1 year ago
I just watched it. Wasn't it great? I liked the part where he accused the Republicans of jumping ship, and it's every man for himself in their party. Also note that every time Republicans are on a show the ALL have the same silly smile on their face. Even when they aren't talking. ALL of them. I notice the Democrats always look normal and are taking it more seriously.

    Fantastic !!!

He brings up a good question, WHERE IS BUSH? He is obligated to address the country, even if McCain does not want him to.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
Apparently he cancelled a statement on it yesterday: from AP:

AIG teetered on the edge of failure because of stresses caused by the collapse of the subprime mortgage market and the credit crunch that ensued.

"While no one would have liked to have ended up in this situation, you have a government that is willing to lead," Perino said.

Bush however, was not willing to talk about it.

He has not fielded questions about the economic upheaval this week and even canceled a statement Tuesday. Reporters have tried each day. When one tried to press Bush in the Oval Office on Wednesday, he said he could not hear the question, and then made light of the moment by saying, "I'm old."

The president has not held a news conference since July.

There again, Perino said, Bush is reluctant to put himself in a position to face questions about the 2008 campaign. But given all the economic developments, she allowed, "I grant you that it's been a while, and I understand that people want to hear from the president during this time."

Bush showing his true colors. His term is almost up so why make an effort. What an a-hole.

The big question in this election is: can you trust the Republicans with your money?

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't buy a "bridge to nowhere" from these folks.

O/T, but here is just one of many reasons McCain will not win Iowa:

Once again John McCain says the economy is absolutely not going down..ever:

We need a video of Republican trolls on a bridge to nowhere.

Shouldn't be hard, that's what the Republicans sound like now. Gotta protect Bush at all costs.
  • Vince in Cedar Rapids · 1 year ago
O/T, but I just posted this and somehow lost it. Here is just one of many reasons McCain will not win Iowa's electoral vote:

Where's Bush? Didn't he skip the convention to make sure Rick Perry isn't an incompetent asshole?
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
BB, I posted this last night.
"WASHINGTON - With little explanation, President Bush on Tuesday scrapped a statement he planned to give on the tumultuous financial markets, abandoning any press coverage of his meeting with key economic advisers as more developments roiled Wall Street.
As announced by the White House, Bush was scheduled to make comments to a pool of reporters after huddling with a key financial working group led by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. Its members include Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and other key government figures in the field of commerce.

Yet after the session began, the White House told the media to never mind.'
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080917/ap_on_go_pr...

This is scary shit. If Bush is afraid to get up and lie to the American people, the economy must really be bad. before today's big drop. Bush must have known.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Know what scares me? When Pelosi and Reid trust Bush's man (Paulson) with a blank check...."in the hopes he'll never have to use it". They had to fucking know better. Why would this be the first time that trusting Bush's ilk won't fuck us?

Why don't Obama agree to sell those Marine 1 helicopters that Bush ordered.....and then order some that are made right here?

He can sell them for a loss and the Republicans will worship him.

getting back to your post, Yeah, Bush knew. If not, Senator Judd gregg sure as hell did.

Obama needs to start naming names.
  • stefanzo · 1 year ago
Wow is right. I have almost never seen a TV talking head hold their guest responsible. It's amazing.

I think the media narrative hasn't become 'McCain/Palin are liars', but 'We can't take this BS any more!'

Saw a bumper sticker today...JEWISH AMERICANS FOR MCCAIN-PALIN....assholes. Oy...schwartzehs...can't have a schwartzeh President. These people are educated and middle class and are voting for Caribou Barbie and Pinnochio?????? WTF????? Because Obama is black? Is it still possible for reasonable and educated Americans to see only skin color????This nation has turned into a sewer and the sewage is raw and stinks to high heaven. Thanks ever so Mister Rove. The fire spits of Hell await you for what you did to this country.
  • BarbaraGordon · 1 year ago
I am a Jewish New Yorker temporarily in Florida. My parents' friends have been inundated with emails saying that Obama is a Muslim and that he hates Israel - and they believe them. The only saving grace is that my mother is appalled by Palin and has started asking me daily how the Dems are combating her. When I told her about Palin and the rape kits, that sealed the deal. Unfortunately, her friends don't yet know about this so ads would be very helpful.
  • DastiusKrazitauc · 1 year ago
Word needs to get out to your mother's friends that Palin quoted anti-semite, Westbrook Pegler, in her acceptance speech at the RNC.
  • bkmn · 1 year ago
Is Eric Kantor in any way affiliated with the Republican Jewish Coalition, which is working the public with their push polling techniques? Wouldn't be surprised to find a connection there.

Rick Perry "We just want to be treated as well as the good people in Louisana were treated after Katrina"What a dumb ass!
  • Scottsdalian · 1 year ago
Oh...they WILL be, don't you worry.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
The Republicans are trying to convince us Bush is a Democrat, or maybe an Independent. They want him to be anything but a Republican. It's like Fox news showing a picture of a disgraced Republican with a subscript calling him a Democrat.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Even the Bush/Palin signs are blue. Obama says nothing.
  • RonThompson · 1 year ago
John, you wrote "trying to claim that McCain and company aren't really Republicans". Is that right, or did you mean "Bush and company"?
  • Scottsdalian · 1 year ago
    Same thing. Toma(e)to/Toma(h)to.
  • jmcon007 · 1 year ago
I'm not ruling out the possibility that I may someday vote for a Republican, but I ruled out long ago any possibility I'd join the party. The bullshit and lies they force their glassey-eyed disciples to choke down and help spread about Democratic opponents is a non-starter for me. It should be for any American, when you think about it. I'm glad Chris is coming unglued. He knows he's been had just like the rest of us.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
the guy actually tried to blame it on the democrats for getting nothing done in 2 years (of nonstop vetos and filibusters). one of our trolls last night tried to blame it on jimmy carter. i guess that's all they have now.
  • CPL · 1 year ago
When all else fails....BLAME CLINTON OR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

The fact that the ReThugs had control of Congress for over 12 years doesn't count as far as they're concerned.
  • KISSman · 1 year ago
He can makes some of these Republicans look stupid since he doesn't let all of their stupid talking points get by without a challenge. Tweety is admittedly pro-Obama and he's been an ally to our cause most of the time..
  • 4dogs · 1 year ago
I took my daughter to our foot doctor. He's Jewish and likes Palin. I went crazy in his office, and couldn't understand how an educated man could like an idiot. Being Jewish myself I said: You're Jewish how can you vote Republican, we're Democrats. He said , well sometimes I cross party lines. But after all that talking he said I made some good points and he would really think about it. All I can say is Oy Vey. This man is a doctor!
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
4dogs, I am constantly amazed at the number of seemingly bright people who buy into the Republican bullshit.
  • 4dogs · 1 year ago
Wait until I see him on Friday, I'm not done with this guy yet. What a putz.
He's good with feet though, but I quess that's where his brains are.
  • Gorgonzola · 1 year ago
McCain and the Beer Baroness showed up at GM Lake Orion plant and were greeted by GM workers chanting "Obama, Obama, Obama." You can fool some of the people but GM workers know bullshit when they hear it.
  • CPL · 1 year ago
Gorgonzola, they know that four more years of ReThug rule means their jobs are probably going overseas if McCain gets his way.

Sounds like GM workers have fired up their bullshyt detectors and firing them at 500 yards.
  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
Tweety must have lost some big bucks.
  • thinkingbear · 1 year ago
LOL, I was thinking the same thing. He was fired up like it was something very personal to him
  • CPL · 1 year ago
I think the MSM was expected to roll over for McCain like they did Bush, and they are beginning to see what havoc their failure to act as gatekeepers of the fourth estate has wrought.

Also, McCain sticking fingers in their eyes while telling enough bullshyt lies to fill in the gaps in the Grand Canyon, didn't help his cause, or his surrogates' causes, either.

Plus, Cantor is up for re-election and God help him if his district is the hardest hit with foreclosures, bankruptcies, job losses and the tanking economy. If he represents anywhere in Northern Virginia, his ass is toast.

Tom Davis got religion and retired from Congress before Northern Virginians could show him the door. Cantor may be in the same boat.

And Tweety wants White House Access if Obama gets in; plus I think he's gotten to the place where his mancrush on McCain faded into oblivion.

‘He’s Pulling One Of These Katrinas Again’” Best line I have heard all week.

Uhhhh Harry S. Truman was a (D)emocrat.....How was he "a hero of every republican"........did anyone else catch that?
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Finally some of these talking heads and reporters grew a pair of balls.
  • bachelard · 1 year ago
That was pretty amazing -- mainly because it occurred to me that I haven't even thought about how George Bush would respond to the latest economic events. We've all become accustomed to a leader who is perpetually absent during rough times. Scary.

Today it is a pleasure to call him Chris rather than by his often deserved nick name.

Today, Chris was a journalist. Today, he was part of the solution

    Its good.

Jesus, if he keeps this up I may just have to start watching Hardball again.
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house, and Chris Matthews is one of the biggest tools around, so I don't get what is going on here. The only thing I can figure out is that the talking heads sense that the republicans behind the curtain are going to throw this one to the dems and they are wanting access or something and this is the way to get in 'relatively' good with the new admin. What on earth has McCain done to the republicans because it seems like they are letting him get eaten alive, which they would not do if he was one of their fortunate sons. Was it the sin of *actual* military service? The fact that he's an aristocratic 'bastard' of sorts because it's his wife's and not his daddy's money that allows him into their circles? Color me confused.
  • tas · 1 year ago
    Watched it, it was great.
  • Nuffsaid · 1 year ago
I have noticed, it seems, that the MSM has stopped putting the "D" or "R" tags after the names of the "Talking Heads" they are interviewing. Everybody knows the Republicans have been in charge for, at least, the last eight years. And the "Brand Name" is damaged. So the Republicans want to keep running everything without being Republicans. The main thing Cris wanted the Congressman to admit was that he was a Republican, not that the Republicans were at fault or that he was at fault, only that he, himself, was a Republican. He never would say it.

I was a little upset by Chris's action. It was a little too much like something you would see Rush Limbaugh do to a guest. But maybe it is time to just stop just accepting all the BS and start yell ing a little bit.
