Are there other prominent democrats running against Matthews in the primary?
If so, do you think Matthews would make it to the general?
And if not... are the netroots planning to line up behind him?

I would line up behind him just to get him off the air. I'm am so tired of his loudmouthed bluster that I could gag.

I can't see him giving up the cheddar he makes at MSNBC to become a public servant for less than $200K a year.
Lobbyists payola not withstanding.

Oh I can. His ego is pretty big and being one of only 100 senators is a pretty elite club. Don't forget that he toiled in the background for several years in Government and has some pretty strong opinions I think he'd like to try to turn into policy.

Nate's site also says:
Matthews Denies Report
Chris Matthews flatly denied our report indicating his active hiring for the Pennsylvania Senate seat currently held by Arlen Specter.
"It is absolutely not true," said Matthews, in a statement.
--------------------------------------------
Well, he kind of has to deny it or he'd be off the air immediately...

I laughed when I read "Matthews would run as a Democrat".
That aside, he would probably win, with his name recognition and the lack of any big names running against him. However he would have to quit his show the day he announced (for obvious reasons). The question he needs to ask is what is most impactful.. MSNBC show or 1 out of 100 senators..
of course, he could get on MSNBC any time he wanted as a Senator.. man that would be real weird.. Senator Tweety.. whats next, Senator O'Reilly?????

I hear from PA folks that he is not well known there. We know him because we're political junkies and gluttons for punishment, but MSNBC is not even on every cable system.

Tweety doesn't belong in the Senate. Don't we have any standards left in America? A man so full of shit belongs silent.

"would run as a Democrat."
Service call for the Irony Meter, stat!
Tweety is not fit for the public airwaves let alone the best body money can buy - the U.S. Senate. The best way to get him off the air is to switch the channel NOT put him ANYWHERE he can do anymore damage.
Let him bloviatate where his attitudes and hypocritical style are a bitter fit - the basement bar of the local Murikan Legion.

Chris seems to have knowledge on politics, but, until he listens, he would not be any good at that job. He is so busy talking, he interrupts, overides, and smothers what others are saying. Many times others are not able to get their answer or points across beause he is too busy postering.

That would be one way to keep Tom Delay and Ann Coulter off the airwaves.

if this is the best the Dems can do in Pennsylvania then Specter deserves another term.

maybe if tweety runs and wins he will revert to his previous political position and unload the gop garbage he has been spewing on softball, this is why he has all of a sudden become the dem cheer leader during the election cycle, now we might be able to get another solid reporter of the news on msnbc and replace a con boot licker, good luck tweety may the force be with you. beware obama staffers he doesn't pull a liberman on you after election day.

Matthews should think again. He doesn't stand a chance here in PA. We don't like blowhards like Matthews, particularly out west.

Doesn't Tweety live on Cape Cod? Does his running in PA make him a carpet bagger? Why should he think he can win an election against people who actually live in the district? I didn't like Hillary moving to NYC to run for the Senator or Elizabeth Dole to NC to run there. Just say no to carpet baggers!

If Tweety runs as a Democrat then who will run as the Democrat? Tweety ain't no Democrat! At least on his show he isn't.

Tweety doesn't know how to be quiet long enough to represent anyone in a "representative government."

"Arlen Specter, the aging Republican incumbent, will be 80 if he chooses to run for re-election."
how old will he be if he doesn't run for reelection?
If so, do you think Matthews would make it to the general?
And if not... are the netroots planning to line up behind him?
