  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    good job, red headed tweety!
  • heathwood · 1 year ago
Didn't the Dixie Chicks get shit for talking about gw overseas?
  • wmforr · 1 year ago
As Nixon said, "When the President does it, it isn't illegal."
  • wmforr · 1 year ago
And besides, we have to hold the Dixie Chicks to a higher standard.
  • tofubo · 1 year ago
i'm at a loss for words, i just wish kevin james was
  • maye · 1 year ago
if you're gonna go on tv and make historical references, please at least google them before you make an ass of yourself and embarass your mother (who called all her friends and told them to watch).
  • sittenpretty · 1 year ago
he really had absolutely NO clue...another MERKIN from dunbfukistan
  • kevinbgoode · 1 year ago
This clown not only has no clue, but shouldn't even be on the public airwaves NOR on his own radio show. He should be laughed all the way off the air.
  • tofubo · 1 year ago
he's on a salem station (who'da thunk ??), 1 hour now, 2 hours later, hoping for 3 at some point in time

I hate to say this cuz Kevin is a nice guy, but his show revolves around one thing and one thing only...Illegal Immigration. It sounds current when there actually something going on, like some kind of rally or a law proposal. But when theres nothing going on, he really sounds boring...unfortunetly he's a one trick pony.
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
You know, I really really really want to see what a transcript of this looks like :-)
  • Jim Olson · 1 year ago
Columns. Thats the only way to do it.
  • zavlin · 1 year ago
The best part of this is when mathews really starts grilling this nutjob, he brings up 9/11 as a defense in classic out of touch republican fashion.
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
Obviously Bill Clinton's mistake was to not go to war with Iraq right after the African embassies' bombing. Of course, Iraq had nothing to do with that either, but why let facts get in the way of an ignoramus's rant.
  • maye · 1 year ago
Bush starting this whole discussion is a gift to Obama. And McCain coming in to defend Bush and to underscore what he said is a double gift. The Bush foreign policy is around McCain's neck, and this kind of opening just keeps it there.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
i've been suspicious for a while that matthews is kinda sweet on barack. sidney must be feeling jilted.
  • LawMichigander · 1 year ago
Chris should have just cut his mic
  • donotmakemecomedownthere · 1 year ago
Kevin's flag pin must have been at the cleaners today.

Tweety must be soooo happy that he found someone even dumber and more obnoxious than him. Ten bucks says James will be invited back next week.

So sick and tired of dumb.
  • TheOriginalLiz · 1 year ago
To be fair - I doubt if 1/5 of the American population would know who Neville was. And they would predominantly be older Americans. We've done a heck of a job of dumbing down the educational system.
  • betamu · 1 year ago
Regardless of our educational system (both me and my son knew who Neville Chamberlain was), my expectations of a fellow who has his own radio show and talks of politics, HE should have some idea of what he is talking about...right?
  • wmforr · 1 year ago
It's not whether he should have known in advance what Chamberlian did. I wasn't sure, but it took me all of thirty seconds to find out after watching the video.

If the man had any competence, he would have googled "appeasement" and "Chamberlain" the minute he heard Dumbya's speech. There is really not excuse for not doing your homework on something like that with today's Internet.
  • GWMustGo · 1 year ago
For some reason the term "douchebag" kept coming to mind as the twit (not Tweety) kept spewing smegma from his mouth.

Kudos to Matthews for not letting the guy off.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
It seems to me that I recall Bush Sr. making a much publicized pilgrimage to the Gestapo cemetary while he was visiting Germany. And then again, when Dubya visited he also was obligated to pay his respects though that visit was kept out of the commercial media. But when his veep, Shotgun Cheney, went to Germany, the first place he had to visit to pay his respects to the dead was the same Gestapo cemetary. Do I remember correctly or is my memory faulty?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Nah, that was Reagan.

You never heard the Ramones song "Bonzo goes to Bitburg" ?

  • Andrew A. Gill · 1 year ago
    What did Chamberlain do?

Let me give you a hint:

    Peace for our Time!

It takes only four words to tell if you're just bullshitting. And this guy was bullshitting.
  • Jim Olson · 1 year ago
I'M ROBIN LEACH, AND I'M SCREAMING, AND I DON'T KNOW WHY!!!

Ugh. I couldn't stand listening to either of them.
  • mountainhigh · 1 year ago
Ah, if only the media would get a clue and do their jobs instead of falling for the talking points. Matthews was good tonight.
  • KISSman · 1 year ago
I saw this live and thought it was a hoot!

Why is it that most conservatives/Republicans (and some Clinton supporters) are loud-mouthed kooks when they talk on these shows. They are always overly assertive a**holes and talk like crazy cartoon characters who couldn't possibly be that way in real life -- or could they?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
It was funny watching Tweety toy with that idiot.
  • dula · 1 year ago
Wow, nice job Chris...but you still aren't done making amends to your country for your years of Right Wing bias. Good on you though for making a few points with the Party who is gonna rule all three branches of government in under a year.
  • apikoros · 1 year ago
if you want a transcript, head over to Crooks and Liars where Josh got this video.
  • TDeg · 1 year ago
Tip of the hat to Matthews for actually doing his job and calling one of these nutcases out on their bullshit.
  • popebuck1 · 1 year ago
My favorite part of Keith Olbermann tonight was when he pointed out that:

    a) The US Senator Bush quoted, who said "If only I had been able to talk to Hitler, all this would have been avoided!" was a Republican from Idaho.

    b) Neville Chamberlain was also a Conservative party member.

    c) ALL of the prominent Hitler appeasers in the US, in the years leading up to WW2, were right-wingers - most of them isolationists, and many of them (like Dubya's grandfather Prescott) doing business with Hitler themselves.
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
On your point C, Don't leave out Joe Kennedy and many other wealthy Dems. War profiteering appeared across the political spectrum. The British Royal Family had a Nazi problem as well.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
A Tweety setpiece...very similar to other staged attacks like the one with Stephanie Tubbs-Jones on the pro Obama state senator the night of the Texas primary.
Tweety was shooting an easy fish in a barrel for some much needed liberal cred...spelled p-a-s-e-n-a-t-e-r-a-c-e.
  • Andrew A. Gill · 1 year ago
    A Tweety setpiece

    A.) It's possible
B.) It doesn't change my opinion of him
C.) Unless he was faking ignorance, Tweety couldn't have predicted that he didn't know who Chamberlain was.
    D.) It's still hilarious
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...hahaha. This is amazing! No words for this one. This is a loud mouth idiot that Matthews put on check. I've never seen it done better. Anybody ever notice that racism has the same look...no matter where you see it!? It's a certain twisted, hateful and angry look.".
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
I thought Chris Mathews did a great job today. He firmly put this loudmouth in his place, by exposing him for the dumb right wing conservative, he is.
As usual these right wingers just don't know the facts, and they sure make up for it, by trying to yell, or talk over you.
This idiot tried hard to dodge the question, but I am glad Mathews insisted he answer the question. This is how these ignorant people, who try to con their way, and mislead the public, should be dealt with.
  • MNUSA · 1 year ago
I couldn't listen to this. As my Grandmother always said, "an empty barrel makes the most noise."
  • johnosahon · 1 year ago
I JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH CHRIS MATTHEWS.

HE SENT SHIVERS UP MY LEG.
  • fredndallas · 1 year ago
I actually like & have grown fond of Chris Mathews. It seems to me that he is one of the more honest and insightful voices on television and not afraid to reveal his true thoughts. I'm proud of him tonight for doing what a "talking head quasi journalist" SHOULD do. Could it possibly be that the "craft" is going to start doing their job?

What an absolutely obnoxious dufus Kevin James showed himself to be. So typical of not letting the facts get in the way of the insane rant. The Air America guy said it absolutely correctly, but that got lost in the zoo yard.

And for GWB to be slamming Barack -- himself having the proud Bush family history of conviction for war profiteering with the Nazis is an ideal point for us Democrats to use in pivoting to the much larger issues.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Tweety showed the guy up and in this case the guest deserved it, but why did Matthews have him on the show?
  • SociologistTina · 1 year ago
Outstanding post, John, because I LOVED that video.

Quite a lesson. For ALL of us on many levels.
  • SociologistTina · 1 year ago
    PS:

Sage advice: "When you're in a hole, stop digging."

    LOL
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
I've stated this many times. Hitler was a creation of the British Empire!!!!!!

    Hitler 1938, Cheney 2007?

  • offspring · 1 year ago
gee if anyone knows about hitler it is bush's grandaddy
  • dad · 1 year ago
the only thing better would have been bush in the same situation

    don't vote stupid
  • sherifffruitfly · 1 year ago
I think Tweety was using the poor SOB as his personal ersatz-Bush.

    Credit where credit is due.
  • andyphx · 1 year ago
How does some one with such an annoying voice get a radio show? Is it mandatory that in order to be a secord tier, right-wing radio hack that you must have as repellant a personality as possible?
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
ahhhhhh folks, lets not get all gooey eyed over tweety, he has been part of this cover to invade and occupy a foriegn country. he failed to ask the right questions in the last 6 years. just casue he was being tough on some nobody does not make him one of us (so to speak). tweety the puppet certainly played his role well, no?
  • michaelt · 1 year ago
that's right. the sins of tweety outweigh one moment of clarity. he's a hack and should be sent out to pasture with the rest of them.
  • DCinDC · 1 year ago
Man, that was sad. To also imagine this guy has a radio show. No wonder why Americans are so ill informed. It is almost like this guy had no education and is just a propaganda mouth to keep the masses in line with the government’s plan to rule. What other reason is there to have such uneducated people on radio expressing false information. Sad.
  • UncommonSense · 1 year ago
This guy Kevin James doesn't just have a radio show. The guy has a radio show in Los Angeles, the number-two media market in the country! That clown probably has a million people listening to him spout his worthless opinions every day.

    That is sad.
  • FightBack · 1 year ago
Can it be that the "mainstream" is finally starting to realize that we, the "liberals"...."progressives" have the best interests of our country at heart?
  • DavidinChelseaMA · 1 year ago
Matthews was great here. The point of this "gotcha" moment wasn't that he was asking the guy to explain who someone in history was, that probably few Americans over 40 would immediately know anyhow, but rather that the guy was defending Bush's use of the word "appeasement" without even knowing what it actually was referring to in an historical context.
  • paulbe · 1 year ago
You know, when we on the rest of the planet talk about how much we passionately HATE Americans, (and trust me, we do talk like that), then guys like this turkey are generally what we mean. we actually mean these kinds of Americans. And the carry -on of morons like this is why we actually enjoy your humiliation in Iraq. It represents a huge loss to people like this.
  • mr_ed · 1 year ago
I watched this live while cooking dinner last night. It changed my mind about Irish immigration, and burned the pot stickers.
  • wmforr · 1 year ago
This was delightful to watch. Now if only the press had been calling Bush/Cheney/Rice/ etc al. on their facts like that for the past seven years, perhaps we would be proud of the Fourth Estate again.
  • Milli · 1 year ago
Holy crap. This guy is fucking messed up.
  • 360sound · 1 year ago
Wow, Kevin James sure looks different than he did on "King Of Queens"...
But seriously, ask yourself this: WHY did Tweety have him on in the first place?
This is prime time cable, and every third-rate board-op from every low-rated neocon AM station gets on these national platforms - hell, sometimes I thnk that they even throw the janitors on.. Why is that? And.. what's up with the coked-up squeaky dude-bro voice, Kevin? He wouldn't have made it through first semester in the intro to broadcasting class that I took..
  • cpinny · 1 year ago
Matthews did an awesome job last night. I believe he's developed a conscience!
As I watched the piece about Obama calling a reporter 'sweetie,' it occurred to me that perhaps that was all a misunderstanding. Perhaps he thought the reporter was Matthews, and he said 'Tweety,' not 'sweetie.'
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
I almost didn't make it through that.

My God that guy was annoying.
  • Hawk · 1 year ago
We got a Press Secretary who doesn;t know what the Cuban Misdsle crisis was and now,,,we dealing with people who have a blank slate in terms of History.

To paraphrase, I like it, it should be said more and hopefully, that completely annoying blank slate will lose his AIRTIME eventually!
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Those who don't know history are bound to repeat it. Kudos to the US educational system for bringing the hell of the past forward to the future.
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
What did Neviile actually do, Do you Know?
  • Andrew A. Gill · 1 year ago
Duh. He gave Germany the Sudetenland.
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
The Sudetenland's weren't Chamberlain's to give. He gave Hitler
a pass, no confrontation over Hitler's land grab if he promised to not
do it any more. No one faults Chamberlain for talking but for backing
down. To be fair to Chamberlain Britain was in no way ready to
confront Hitler at the time. And Neville compounding the mistake
by trying to claim a moral victory "Mission Accomplished"
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Yeah, it's hard to see how the Brits could have defended Czechs anyway.

Chamberlain's big strategic screwup was giving Stalin the cold shoulder when he was trying to make comm cause with the Brits over Poland.

Chamberlain sent a delegation on a slow, roundabout trip to Russia, and Hitler swooped in and cut a deal with Stalin before they even arrived.
