As I've continues to say, and I've said this for sometime on this blog:
I am absolutely perplexed why there is not a million citizen march on Washington RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!.
This is the mother load of all scams, the American citizen is being taken to the woodshed and our pockets are being emptied.
I wonder if we will see it during the Obama inauguration or will it be just starry-eye people celebrating the election - never mind the financial collapse surrounding them.
Huh?

If someone were to Anthrax all of DC with only government leaders impacted I would not shed a tear. Some Americans might even smile.

.....Oh and to answer your question: The complicity of the DEM leadership, who should be the opposition party has utterly collapsed at the feet of the corporatist.
That's why people are not being held accountable.
You don't matter.
Money trumps democracy.
That's where we stand at the present moment in the nation-state building the Founders started 200 years ago.

Wait a minute. Bank rates and fees are going up while stealing our tax dollars. Credit card companies keep hiking their fees and rates THEN they steal our tax dollars to stay afloat? Uh, does capitalism mean SOCIALIZING rich people's mistakes by paying for them with tax dollars WHILE gouging the poor / middle class by sucking up their tax dollars so they don't get any good government services because the "wealthy can't afford to sacrifice for good government services to ensure the taxpayer enjoys some services the wealthy take for granted?" Things that make ya go, "hmmmm?"
Republicans call helping the poor through government SERVICES using our TAX DOLLARS: "HANDOUTS" Republicans call helping the WEALTHY using our TAX DOLLARS: "BAILOUTS"
HANDOUTS... BAILOUTS... Hmmm, for some reason "bailout" is a much nicer word, isn't it? Nice framing from wealthy Republicans, huh?

"We have sort of become a nation of whiners," he said. "You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in decline" despite a major export boom that is the primary reason that growth continues in the economy, he said.

Big Banks Are Bankrupt, Admits Big Banker
"The only reason that any big banks remain 'well capitalized' today is because the government provided a guarantee to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that immediately shored up the value of their mortgage-backed securities," an unnamed banker with one of the largest U.S. banks said. The statement appeared in a comment to an Oct. 30 blog entry by reporter Joe Nocera on the New York Times website—which entry itself was based upon an e-mail from the banker, in which he criticized the big banks for refusing to behave responsibly. "The big banks are enjoying their capitalization status on the backs of the taxpayer already. Do not misunderstand this," the banker said. "The government had to take over Fannie and Freddie or we would not have ANY banks in business today unless they were under the control of the FDIC" (emphasis in the original). The author of the e-mails, Nocera said, works for one of the nation's biggest banks, and agreed for his letter to be posted on condition that his name was withheld.

Why punish those geniuses at the top? Hell, we must recognize the grand worldwide theft they have pulled off for their masters. First they created a mess that shareholders and debtholders profitied from for years, all the while greasing the palms of the politicians so that now taxpayer dollars are being used to further pay off shareholders and debtholders. These guys are good.

Whatever happened to good old fashioned capitalism? Where you took your chances and if you failed, it was nobody's fault (or redponsibility) than your own?

Yeah, but they also think the auto industry should only survive under pure capitalism. Reason is that auto industry is a blue collar industry, about 2.5 million blue collar workers dependent on the auto industry. If they rescued the auto industry, they would also be rescuing 2.5 million blue collar workers and that would be gasp, socialist. Evil, vicked, bad, bad, greedy Communism in this country. No, no! Wrong to help the stinking, dirty, reeking common people who are only good for cannon fodder or grist for the mill.
Colossal Financial Collapse: The Truth behind the Citigroup Bank “Nationalization”
On Friday November 21, the world came within a hair’s breadth of the most colossal financial collapse in history according to bankers on the inside of events with whom we have contact. The trigger was the bank which only two years ago was America’s largest, Citigroup. The size of the US Government de facto nationalization of the $2 trillion banking institution is an indication of shocks yet to come in other major US and perhaps European banks thought to be ‘too big to fail.’
