The brouhaha is about the second comment attributed to Kantor. The first comment was totally clear. No one has been able to clearly hear the second comment, a racial slur attributed to him.

but the actual comment seems to be: they are shitting....in the white house... the 'ting and in the white house' was cut off...
all i can hope is it was not anything linked to obama camp and i highly doubt it was.

Actually, I think the first comment might be "those people are shitting"

Pure Rove -- you have to hand it to the Hillary camp. They studied Rove and have learned very well from him.
My hat is off to them.

Did anyone, but me, see the shameless mention of Deborah Jeane Palfrey in regard to Elliot Spitzer by that out of touch bozo, Larry King, and Dr. Phil?!!?
Yep, just as I thought, the whole suicide became a way for them to segway into a discussion about Democratic sex scandals, Elliot Spitzer, instead of ANY mention of the OUTRAGEOUS number of Republican sex scandals. Not to mention, David Vitter, was the one directly related to Deborah Jeane Palfrey. My God, if Dr. Phil and Larry King can't "keep up" then they need to go away and stop discussing issues. Then again, it was probably deliberate to try to attach Spitzer to the Palfrey suicide in the minds of voters.

The person who first used the "N" word description for that second statement better lawyer up. Serious libel. I can't believe an Obama supporter would crawl in the gutter for votes. Nice job, Barack, keep bringing us together.

Kantor is denying the second statement about "white n-----s" but not the first about "Those people are shit". I think the first sentence is bad enough. Pretty damn elitist.

Hmmm, so according to Ben Smith of Politico the author of the YouTube clip did some "enhancements" but did nothing to the audio portion. Doesn't matter now, it is out there.
<table cellspacing='0' cellpadding='0' border='0' ><tr><td style='font: inherit;'>I watched the entire clip, and I saw nothing that sheds light on the Obama campaign.
I suppose I'm supposed to conclude that because Hilary never threw Bill under the bus, there is no basis for criticizing Barack Obama's 20 year history with Reverend Wright. But that argument simply does not hold up -- there is no parallel between a marriage relationship and any other.
Quite frankly, I believe there are a lot of women out there with cheating husbands who vote. Something like half of the marriages in this country fail. But Hilary honored the commitment she made before God and worked out her problems in her marriage. That speaks volumes about her commitment to faith and family values.
it may be true that the Reverend Wright issue will not ultimately damage Obama. It may even make his candidacy stronger. But this link between these two relationships is just a little desperate, if not an outright attempt to continue to inject gender into this campaign.

No, no libel at all. You need to bone up on libel law.
Second, I'd be surprised if this didn't come from the other side -- an old Rove trick -- to take the spotlight off the illegal robo calls from the Clinton camp as well as the Sidney Blumenthal story.

John,
I have no idea where the ethnic slur originated or how that came to be newsworthy, but Kantor did make the "shit" comment, as your research proves. Obama must stay away from this controversy and focus on the real issues of voters' concerns. Hillary is in total pandering mode, saying anything to win votes. I hope the people of Indiana see them for the liars they are and not believe a word from the Clinton camp. To paraphrase Kantor: The Clintons are shit!
2. I have the DVD. I will GLADLY send John Aravosis the clip, unedited, if he wishes. You can even hear it on the YouTube that Jake has posted at 4:50 into the YouTube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_wKOgMNs0U&fmt=18
At 1:23:58 into the DVD Kantor says:
[To Carville]: "Look at Indiana. Look at Indiana: 42-40. It doesn't matter if we win. Those people are shitting. Excuse me. (garbled) White House"
[Then he turns to Stephanopoulos]: "How would you like to be a worthless white ni--er."
That's what he says and I can prove it. The "N-word" part has not been doctored in any way whatsoever. Go listen to the YouTube or go buy the DVD if you really want to know.

I went ahead and emailed John the clip. after having 5 different people watch it, there is one of us who thinks he said "shitty" instead of "shitting." That may be the case. On that part I guess I have a little doubt.
But he definitely said the N-Word. what he meant by it imay be in question, but he definitely says "How would you like to be a worthless white ni--er." That's not been edited in any way.

John,
I've posted this War Room clip twice over the past few days. You have to watch it. At 1:05 into the clip, current ABC News personality George Stephanopoulos expressed thoughts of suicide if Bill Clinton lost in 1992. This could explain why he is so determined to help Hillary in 2008. How would Stephanopoulos feel if she lost? Suicidal or worried about his job? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_wKOgMNs0U&feat... http://www.drudgereport.com/flashabh.htm

Huffington Post has an article up that says the video is doctored, and that the actual quote was "How would you like to be in the White House right now."
Seems like the blogosphere has been punk'd.

"A close listening reveals the truth. Buoued by the Indiana exit poll, Kantor clearly says "those people are sh*tting," not "those people are sh*t"--meaning that they (i.e., the president's reelection team) are scared. And far from following that (by all accounts accurate) analysis up with a racial slur, Kantor then turns to Stephanopolous and asks, ""How would you like to be in the White House right now?" He's jabbing the Bush campaign, not ripping on Indianans. End of story.
Ultimately, though, the Kantor contretemps is less interesting as a hoax than as a window on deeply divided Democratic psyche. Assume that Kantor did say some inappropriate things about Indianans 15 years ago. Would those remarks really reflect poorly on anyone other than him? I'm not so sure. Obama spent two decades listening to Wright deliver sermons that (by his own admission) veered at times into controversial territory; whether or not that lowers your opinion of the senator, it's at least reasonable to examine whether Obama's decision to keep sitting in those pews reveals something about his character and judgment. But to hold a comment Clinton never even heard against her is silly."
Duh (seems appropriate) I would love to say "I knew that" however LOL I didn't it. Thanks because I would have kept asking thereby confirming my position as one of the dimmer bulbs on the Christmas tree. :)

And if he said that white house comment George Steph would have be nodding yes, not trying to ignore KKKantor rant. You can tell by the body language of those there that he said it, and didn't say the Whitehouse lie.
