AMERICAblog: US close to deal on withdrawing combat troops from Iraq by October 2010

McBush will flip-flop and say that it was 2010 the whole time and deny he ever said 100 years, 10 years or agreed with Obama's time plan. The old man's pathetic.

Are you kidding he is already doing the flipping dance. He doesn't remember what he said from one day to another. We will have another Regan in Office. Gosh, am 60 yrs old. I want someone with fresh ideas and younger.

What surprises me more is that the media is barely questioning his obvious flip-flops but are tripping all over themselves if they think Obama has changed a position. I wonder when we will get reporters who are neutral ( at least in public ) and report on all of it and not just a one sided attack. I very rarely watch CNN and the other evening the hostess pretended she had someone to speak for Obama. This person was totally critical of Obama and then she said that after the commercial they would have someone speak for McCain. This has got to stop or we need more shows to counter balance that crap for reporting. If they all were neutral, we wouldn't have to be commenting about how bad it is. Then the republicans say the media leans to the left. RUBBISH !!

Maybe McCain can use one of his fancy tire inflation tools to check his head pressure with.

"withdrawing from Iraq was John McCain's idea"-cable news

You're so cute John. You actually think the media is going to report that there was a major difference between McCain and Obama. They're going to pretend that this is just a version of what they both wanted and not mention the whole "massive and total rebuke" thing. Weren't you paying attention during the Maliki thing?
bush is trying to save his legacy. bush does not care about anyone. mcCain is sinking his own ship. obama is running a strong campaign. i do not believe the polls and i think obama will win by a large margin.

I think McShrub should have a full check up. I'm getting small headache on the right side of my head like there might be an anurism with him there. He needs a CAT scan. stat.

John and Repubs will spin this as being good news. If not for the surge, they would not be able to pull out...and because Obama never supported the surge, if he had his way, we would be there past the next 21 months.
I have seen this over and over. It's complete crap, but that is what they will do. Watch and see.

Funny, I think now Bush is leaving office and can do whatever he wants. He is has chosen to screw McCain. After all they really do hate each other. While he is at it he is screwing the republicans in the house by not calling congress back. That is sooooooooo funny. Pay back a bitch. I think bushie knows that Obama is going to make a great President.

McCain is a useless political paraplegic with no where to go. Even The Wheelchair Express has an Obama bumper sticker.

Under ideal conditions it would take 16-18 months to pack everything/everybody up and send them home. No ambushes and political agreement. Complete peace. In other words, fifty years.

How many more dead and maimed before this purported withdrawal date? Since the "surge" began, those numbers are already in the four figures...

Karen, what do you think about the new book coming out written by Suskine stating that Bush had a false letter made up to connect Bin Laden and Saddem? Can you imagine what family members of soldiers are going to think that over 4,000 soldiers died in Iraq. Who should be held accountable? Bush and Cheney and Rummey should be arrested and jailed.

Just three magic words: Downing Street Memo. Suskind merely confirms the "fixed" intel the Bush regime cooked up for its illegal war of choice.

Yep, right on. That way Bush and especially the real president Cheney should be impeached and put in prison.

Does anyone really honestly believe that all US troops will be out of Iraq within the next 50 years? Why would the USA leave Iraq, when we still have troops in Germany, Japan, and numerous other countries around the world? It simply doesn't make any sense to pull all troops out.

Dont worry, you can still get your war-on in Afghanistan with Mr. Obama.
But he will combine military force w/ humanitarian and political diplomacy, etc. Difficult days ahead indeed, for anyone. Certainly not a job for an old man, though.

John McCain just got his legs cut off by George Bush.
On the contrary - the campaign and RNC would see this as a way to "take Iraq off the table" and take the heat off McCain.
"Oh, yes, we've agreed to leave and it's a decision by the President I support. Can we talk Paris Hilton or tire gauges instead?"

I agree. This is a way to take the Iraq issue off of the table in the election. But really, what does that leave us with? The economy - that's dooing so very well; gas prices - Bush has done such a great job on those; fiscally responsible government - how many hundred billions in the hole this year?; family values - my wife is injured and not so pretty anymore and doesn't have $100 million, but that hot blonde does!; gay marriage - sausage, fudge and Lindsay Graham...
Adorable.
