I REALLY want to be optimistic about this. But given Mugabe's proven savagery and Obama's proven willingness to sell out his alleged values, I see only more U.S. taxpayer-funded oppression. How about securing full civil rights/access to health care/an end to poverty here at home before we start exporting our oh-so-desirable way of life?

The cynic in me wants to joke that when Obama heard about the harsh criminal penalties against gays in Zimbabwe, he immediately said "where's my checkbook?"
But I'll be nice and say that this is, indeed, a good cause, as long as the money can be kept out of Mugabe's hands.

Mugabe is a racist ass and he has systematically destroyed his own country, and, starve his own people out of hatred for white people and personal greed.
Albeit the root of Mugabe’s hatred is white Rhodesians of pre-revolution Rhodesia, and, justifiably so. However Mugabe is a prime example of blind hatred and the inability to distinguish between racists, and, non-racists.
Cultural tribalism is one thing, but Mugabe has gone way beyond that, simply because he has gone way beyond common sense. The traditional tribal chief, has great common sense or his tribe would have perished long before.
