poor ignorant old lady - the McCain camp should be ashamed of themselves for confusing these people.

You would think scaring the crap outta old people would be, as McCain says, "beyond the pale." Turns out, not too much.

These racist relics from the 20th century are on the way out. It's probably the last election she'll be able to vote. The republicans have decimated these fools financially yet nothing is more important to them this his skin tone.
It will be no great loss when this generation passes.

That's a bit harsh, don't you think? Every generation has contributed something to this country and its culture. She is among the generation of those born in the Great Depression and reared during a World World and Korean conflict. They were infused with the ideology of the McCarthy era and came to their majority in the time of the Cold War and its myopic view of anything different. It is no small wonder that she feels the way that she does, however she is NOT necessarily the rule for her generation.

Could they make that music any louder as time went on? Way to go Philly!

They are being home-schooled by the religious right on the campaign trail.

having been there..... it was DEAFENING in terms of the music they were playing to drown out the BOOS. I can't believe how this came across. Looking at the video it seems like the crowd was cheering her on.... they weren't. 90% of the people there were shouting things at her. It was really, really embarrassing for her. I don't know what they were possibly thinking when they said "sure, put her out there!" This campaign is just totally off it's rocker!

Yeah, but you got to hand it to Philly. Our cradle.

Um. Throw her to the dogs?! I've never been so proud of being a Philadelphian than I was tonight. You might be in Comcast's pocket... but know that the general population isn't THAT stupid. Notice, she didn't go out for cheesesteaks after the game. LOL

and what did Sarah do? Why Sarah acted as if all the Booes were cheers. Yes, she most definitely lives in an alternate reality! Her mind doesn't compute people really do NOT like her! What a shame she drug her kids out on the ice to be booed, as well. She was probably hoping the little one would cause people to hold back, and politely applause. They forgot! They were in the city of Philadelphia and not some potemkin Republican village.

Great to hear these comment from you. Because, I've been to many hockey games and when the ref muffs a call you hear the boos. I didn't hear that many, if at all, in that video. So I'm pleased as punch to hear that they really let her have it. She so used to going to staged events - she forgot that not everybody loves her.
I'm starting to think the election could be a landslide. In 2004 there weren't that many 'moveable voters' so Rove concentrated on throwing red meat to the base to get out the vote. This election has more 'moveable voters' (swing voters) so playing to staqed rallys filled with members from the base is not going to attract swing voters, but instead scare then away. I'm especially thinking about Sarah Silverman's campaign to schlep down to Jewish grandparents in Florida, imagine how it feels for many of those grandparents to be watching and witnessing the hate fests at McCain and Palin rallies. Wonder if it reminds them of another hate fest, from another country in another time?

Take that Ed Snyder (Flyers owner and big Republican supporter)!
They actually banked on the mid-to-upper middle class, ghost white crowd to be a favorable audience for Palin at this game. Oops! Did they forget that the game was being held in Philadelphia -- a town that will overwhelmingly vote for Obama? Were they not familiar with the reputation of Philadelphia fans? Who couldn't have saw this one coming?
And why did Sarah Palin bring her daughters out there to be booed? I chalk that one up to bad parenting. I kinda felt sorry for the little one since she has no idea what's all going on.
This is just yet another example of the McCain campaign making bad decisions -- and god bless 'em for doing so. I hope this footage makes the rounds on the news shows on Monday.
I live in this area and I personally can't stand the fans in this town. However, for once, I'm really, really proud of them!

Look, she is a McZombie. They probably told her the crowd would love her. Her being "Miss Hockey Mom" and all. She assumed it would be a fun time. I hope the little girls got to stay and watch the game.
More proof that the Repubs are flailing about at this point. I would imagine their staff meetings must look like a professional wrestling match!

even the loud music couldnt hide the boos.
When Americans get their real voices heard without the corporate media control (like at sporting events), its clear who they like and dont like.. Bush is booed everytime he throws out a pitch for example.

She stayed in the center to do the interviews that were aired, but who knows if she stayed for the whole thing. Her kids were with her, so i'm assuming she had to get them to bed. Or at least I would HOPE she did that. And when she put poor Willow to bed tonight I hope she explained, "those people were booing us because I'm a LIAR and a FRAUD."

There's a diary at KOS where many commenters question the validity of the booing report because they say they can't really tell if they hear widespread booing due to the sound quality of that particular audio mix (which is the one John has posted - from the Comcast feed, I think)
Here's a link to a video of the event from someone's cell phone in a balcony.
The depth and duration of the booing is unquestionable from this video. Watch it if you have any doubts. Case closed.

It wasn't at clear to me that she was being booed. Which tells me there was enough people there cheering to cancel out the boos. I mean, it's not like the booing I've heard at a hockey game after a bad call by the reff or anything.
Now that's more like it. Back in the old Chicago Stadium, she wouldn't have gotten out of there without being bathed by a few brewskies.

John- Can you imagine if this was any other pro sport other than hockey? McCain/ Palin have reduced themselves to a sea of white faces, and are still taking heat. Really disturbing.
Palin at the NBA? NFL?

It's hard to make out the boos except a little bit at the beginning. At the end it sounds like they're cheering her, and I see lots of people clapping.

I'm a hockey fan (which I haven't been admitting of late) and the fans in the US are predominately white, wealthy, and conservative, and yes those were boos. As a special bonus the Flyers lost which served the owner right too.

And then, I think it's awesome that SHE heard such a strong message.

This link allows you to hear the sound much more clearly.
Watching this campaign from the other side of the Atlantic Pond: Palin always seems to have at least one of her children with her; does Obama and or Biden do that as well? just seems a bit creepy. Aren't her kids supposed to be in school?

oops - I've just been informed that her kids are homeschooled (or rather, for the present, schooled on the Hate Talk Express). Still creepy though.
