Hate to sound so pessimistic, but won't McCain just end up doing what Bush did to get elected: lie through his teeth on the campaign trail, and then just do whatever the hell he wants once he gets in office?

bush has the all-time worst disapproval ratings... McBush gives us more of the same...
It's a new economy. Lowered expectations is the rule. I no longer feel pessimistic or fearful, just a little numb like after visiting the dentist, and prepared to adjust expectation, modify expenses, make fewer trips to the stores and the like, say no to Girl Scout cookes and magazine-sales boys working for a college scholarship, make donations only in the form of cash handed directly to desperate indigents on the streets, and generally abstain from the market economy where possible. It's going to be fine, just different from what we were used to wanting and expecting. No more Ben & Jerry's.

Well, go figure...A Mo Roca soundbite from the Radio & Television Correspondents' Association dinner that didn't make the MSM cut yesterday:
After a couple of gibes at Cheney's expense that left the vice president visibly uncomfortable, Rocca joked, "This must be sheer torture for you. Um, I mean, sheer enhanced interrogation."
Now what reason could Americans possibly have for being pessimistic about anything, I wonder? Our military is caught in a quagmire overseas entirely of our own making which was based on seriously flawed if not outright falsified intelligence, prices for just about everything (gas, food, healthcare, education) are rising while salaries are stagnating, our currency is showing a decline in comparison with others such as the Euro, the earnings gap between the wealthiest Americans and everyone else continues to grow, our reputation around the world is in tatters, the majority of the officials who supposedly represent us seem more interested in their own egotistical squabbles than in any of the critical issues the rank and file are facing, and the majority of our mainstream media journalists seem to be little better than sycophantic collaborators who'd rather keep us blindly oblivious to it all through scandal and superficiality than try to make a difference.
No, absolutely no good reason at all for pessimism here -- so anyone who's complaining must simply be a selfish and irrational person who doesn't love America.

This is why I want to laugh when I read t that McCain is even in the polls with Obama and Hillary. Since the blogsphere is becoming the real voice of America it is ridiculous to think McCain has a chance defeating a Dem in November. The only way he can win is though vote fraud and a lot of people are watching to make sure the votes are not hijacked again. And also people are mad as hell and won't take it anymore. You can feel it in the air. I overhear people all the time talking about this election and how it is important to get rid of bush. The mainstream media are old news and people don't trust them anymore.
