AMERICAblog: Warren Buffet calls recession at annual conference

  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Oh my, hasn't Mr Buffet read the definition of recession? (snark) According to George Bush and his croonies, we haven't had two successive down trends so therefore we cannot be in recession. Personally, I think we are going to wake up one morning and realize that we skipped recession and are heading for depression. Like taking an elevator from the 10th floor and stopping at the first floor without any stops between.

Been food shopping lately? I don't know about anyone else, but we are cutting back on all sorts of things. Luxuries like milk and eggs and butter. Just as well since the cholesterol is bad. Been out to dinner much? Wait. It is going to be 1973 redux when things were pretty bad. My usual weekly shopping went from about $125 a week to over $200 this week.

But thank god those fucking GOPers kept gay marriage at bay!!!!

I clearly remember 1973. Things skyrocketed and just kept on going up.

Was this growth measured against the core inflation rate, or the rate that includes food and fuel? I'd say we're pretty deep in recession, but people are using every trick in the book to deny it.

I have never been so glad to be older. If this had happened when I was in my over-extended 20's I would have been screwed!!! Now I drive a piece of crap car (w/good gas mileage) and buy used clothes. When I was younger I would have looked at myself today and thought "What a loser". But at least now I have some wiggle room.

The Commerce Dept does not adjust their numbers for population growth? Are they insane? Has it always been this way or is tis something new the Bushies thought of?
