AMERICAblog: Wash Post couldn't find any liberals, or even Democrats, to praise Baucus bill

  • FunMe · 3 months ago
BAUCUS: Thank you for nothing you corporate whore!

Now go away while I throw the piece of paper where it belongs: the trash!

The Baucus bill is an insult; he's a disgrace. As a diabetic, after listening to Keith Olbermann go over some of it's details last night, I was so upset I had an insulin reaction. Yeah, that's some plan alright.

I'm sorry that you went through that.

    Yes, it is very upsetting.

Can we just call this a fail, get Baucus out of the healthcare bill business and move on to finding an actual solution. I can't believe the Senate wasted a whole summer so Baucus could come up with a bill no one liked.

I can't see any passable health care bill materializing now.

There is a strategy Obama hasn't tried. He's been to busy pressuring liberals and kowtowing to Blue Dogs. He could pull a Reagan and promise that the DNC and himself will campaign against anyone who doesn't vote for a particular bill with the implication Republicans who vote for it will have the President himself show up to demand their Democratic opponent take his toys and go home. He's already sort of done that with Specter, but that had more to do with protecting incumbents than policy.

I fear New Mexico's own Bingaman, one of the gang of 6, had some nice things to say about it this AM on the local NPR station.

    Why am I not surprised?

It’s all good, Heath Insurance stocks are going up!

As Jason Linkins cleverly said yesterday:

"If everyone hates it, does it count as "bipartisanship?""

    Did they ask Obama?

Maybe it was the administration's super double extra secret plan to pass health care? Have a bill tailored made for republicans, who still don't vote for it. Obama comes along and is all, oh well I guess we'll just have to get all reconciliation on reform's ass and pass single payer. All in one day? No? Yeah, I guess not.

The comment I kept hearing yesterday on the airwaves was that the Democrats had made so many concessions to the Republicans that now they view the bill as unacceptable because it doesn't amount to a reform. And of course the GOP doesn't like it either. Time for the Democrats to go it alone and pass a bill that Democrats can like and the Republicans can hate.

The rethugs want vigorous tort reform.
