AMERICAblog: Wash. Post interviews Public Safety chief fired by Sarah Palin -- and it seems Todd Palin was very involved in this process

Some other facts about Sarah Palin:
    * Palin is currently in the middle of a controversial gas pipeline project in Alaska. She’s favored the ‘Trans Canada’ proposal that will run the pipeline through Canada, in effect shipping US jobs over the border. Many Alaskans, including former governors, have favored the “All Alaska Route”.

    * She is also suing the federal government over listing the polar bears as a threatened species. The science was even compelling enough to convince the Secretary of the Interior that the bears needed to be listed. But acknowledgment of this issue, and the potential disruption to development on Alaska’s oil-rich north slope spurred Palin to attempt to stop the listing.

    * Does she want to open ANWR? Yes. Every politician in Alaska wants to open ANWR. It’s basically a requirement if you ever hope to get elected for anything. Even Mark Begich, the progressive Democrat running against the indicted Senator and Alaskan institution Ted Stevens, is pro-drilling. That’s the sea we swim in up here. There are a few anti-drilling folks, but you have to look hard to find them, and work hard to have them admit it.

    * Sarah Palin is currently under an ethics investigation by the Alaska state legislature. The details of this investigation read like a trashy novel, and I suspect that the players will soon have newfound celebrity on the national stage. ..In Alaska, they call this “TrooperGate”.

quote - "Sarah Palin is currently under an ethics investigation by the Alaska state legislature."

There is always an investigation, and media on everything unrelated to what creates real change in our government. If you consider yourself to be a true citizen of this nation and want real change to actually happen, then you need to visit www.democracyconservator.com

Reaction from Ms. Palin's constituents and collegues is pretty amusing...

My jaw dropped when I first heard of this, and I still can't get it up off the floor.
Talk about setting a low bar.

This blog entry questions just how much input Todd Palin has in the everyday operation of the governor's office:

    Shadow Governor?

In the aftermath of the Walt Monegan firing, one question keeps surfacing over and over again; why does the governor's husband, Todd Palin appear to hold so much power?

After all, Nancy Murkowski or Susan Knowles were never accused of pressuring a commissioner or inappropriately sitting in on meetings that should have been private.

The stories started last year when Representative Ralph Samuels told me about going into a meeting, he thought would be private, with Governor Sarah Palin. Much to his surprise, Todd Palin was there and proceeded to sit through the entire meeting.

Olbermann is wrong when he said that this controversy was "a non-starter". Monegan never beat Wooten's wife or child, and in my book, you don't punish the person who DIDN'T do the wife-beating. Plain & simple. If I did something wrong, I should be the one getting fired, not my boss.

Can't you just see it coming? Depos will be taken and, now that one of the principals is a candidate for VP, the stakes are just too high not to try to protect her; somebody's gonna lie under oath.

The republicans have turned the presidency into a joke ... a very bad joke at our expense.

I am NOT a McCain supporter, and I think Sarah Palin's level of experience is a joke, and her nomination is frankly kind of patronizing to American women. I can't wait to see her go up against Joe Biden in a debate. (I also can't wait to see Tina Fey do a Sarah Palin impersonation -- Saturday Night Live has got to call her back for that.)

But from what I'm reading, there's no doubt that this state trooper tasered his 10 year old son. His excuse was that his son asked him to do it so he could see what it was like.

I can't help but feel that, if Sarah Palin had done nothing as Governor when she knew about the incident, wouldn't we be criticizing her for giving a pass to a child abusing drunk because he used to be her brother in law?

I could very well turn out to be wrong, and Lord knows there are lots of things we can criticize her for (including the fact that she brags about keeping gay people like me as second class citizens), but I'm hesitant to crawl out on a limb on this trooper issue.

From your piece: "Palin initially denied that she or anyone in her administration had ever pressured Monegan to fire the trooper, but this summer acknowledged more than a half a dozen contacts over the matter, including one phone call from a Palin administration official to a state police lieutenant."

So, she's a liar. And yesterday she lied about her position on the "bridge to nowhere."

Regarding Walter Monegan and Michael Wooten, does anyone still believe in something called "due process"?

My position: lay out the facts about Sarah Palin, but attack John McCain. He -- what this decision reveals about him -- is the issue

She's a former beauty contest contestant. McCain has a wandering eye. Yeah, he wasn't thinking with his brain when he picked this one.
