    LOVE that! Thank you!

And WASSUP made me cry, not laugh and I wish they would have left out the attempted hanging. Is there an article about what made these guys film an update? I would love to read that.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
It actually made me a little misty eyed as well, when he saw the Obama's on tv.

Yeah, the hanging (attempted) was slightly over the top, having him cry hysterically would have been just as effective, but other than that, very nicely done.

Thank you for posting these ads. It really is hear warming to have someone that can initiate change and inspires the majority of the Americans. 10 days and cant wait...

Made me think that future generations will revere Obama as the president who saved America.

    1999.
    Wow.
To think that seemed so long ago that we were that happy.
And to think in 8 years,,,,,,,how far we've fallen...
And to think that the 2008 version is more real than the 1999 version
  • Hurrycane · 1 year ago
In a couple of weeks, at least we may be able to party like it's 1999.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
I LOVE that! Party like it's 1999. Very cool! That does seem like such a long time ago...
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
Very, very good! Even to the disclaimer at the end.
  • ronfromnh · 1 year ago
completely agree with hysterical. it's too bad we can't get the right-wingers to watch it. on the other hand, they wouldn't get anyway.

TODAY TEXT ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND ASK THEM IF THEY HAVE VOTED!
If they haven't gather them up and take them to early voting TODAY!
Then ask them to do the same thing.

I saw the new one last night and thought it was funny... but to get the TRUE effect you have to watch the original one first, and then the new one... you'll laugh... you'll cry... you'll HOPE...

Seeing the old ad and the new together really gets the point across. I cried when I saw Obama on the screen. Perhaps that's a woman or mom thing. The Iraq soldier breaks my heart. I protested this war from before the beginning.

The fact that the first ad was in 1999 ties in nicely with the "Party like it's 1999" thing. You know, FDR's campaign song was "Happy days are here again." When, and I did say WHEN, Obama wins it would be great if everyone was playing "Party like it's 1999."

Of course, the Repubs will say we're irresponsible and ignoring the reality (ironic, huh?) of the state of the world, but it will remind people of what this country was like before Bush, proud, happy, diverse, free, and anticipating the new millennium with joy.

Bush ruined all that but Obama will free us from the nasty warmonger ideologues who controlled and infested our country for far too long. At last, we'll get our country back. Howard Dean will be smiling.
  • dixtracy · 1 year ago
Yeah we were all great until Bush right? What about September 11th? You forget that day? When our economy went to shit? Yeah that's was Bush's fault too. Now Bush didn't handle the situation any where in the right order. However we needed to defend our country and the 4000 + people that died for no reason. But I'm sure you were the first in line to sign up. Nah, pointing fingers is a lot easier. Obama preaches change and change is what we need. Shit has hit the fan and I hope he can get us out.

notice how in 1999 everyone was on.... landline phones?

I remember when Party Like It's 1999 *seemed* like a song about the future, but I guess no one could have guessed that it now finds its real place as a time capsule of futures past.

    BIDEN/PRINCE '16!

Wow ... it totally made me cry. The Wassup video was such a major cultural event with my work crew. Over the last 8 years, I have watched the office I work go from 500 people to 125. I watched members of my old team lose their home, suffer thru flooding, and have their lives wrecked by medical bills. These are hard working Americans that our country has failed. We are now days away from a return to Hope and change ... GET OUT AND VOTE -- Obama/Biden and No on 8.
  • FastAndBulbous · 1 year ago
The fact that the original is from the company that in a sense bankrolled McCain's career is an added touch of...something.
  • LeftCoastOracle · 1 year ago
This is brilliant! Riffing off the company that has sort of funded McCain's career: the irony...
