CNN Breaking News Banner on their home page states Obama campaign has confirmed it's Edwards.

He did it! But It's too little, too late. Where was he before the North Carolina primary? Barack could have used that endorsement to possibly take Indiana... I'm happy, but I wish he had come out earlier.

John Edwards, great. But what about Blake Edwards, I ask you?
tlsintx
this could be big too: Hillary is saying it'd be a mistake for her supporters to back McCain if Obama is the dem nominee...
So the question becomes, whos still behind clinton? If she doesnt have any democratic officials left supporting her, why should any of the superdelegates?
This is probably worthless because Hillary has nearly fully trashed the party at this point. He should have done this weeks ago.

I can't wait to hear Edwards' speech, I hope he calls on Hillary to step down....should be an interesting speech.
Way to go Attorney General Edwards, er, ooops, I meant, Senator Edwards...

from Kos:
Apparently they've moved the endorsement up to 6:30, most likely to get on all the national news broadcasts.
MotorCityBadBoy
Wait! Wait! I get it... He already had Edward's endorsement... He dropped it now to take the shine away from Hillary's WV victory lap! Right in time for the evening news. I love the Obama team... Very smart. I loved how they bled Hillary for 11 million in Pennsylvania and still came within 10 of winning it. His team has outmaneuvered her team at every turn... Man, they're good!

TAKE US HIGHER LORD.
did not see this one coming. this is GOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD for OBAMA because of the "hard working white, working class white" voters that like EDWARDS.

I am part of that "that working White Middle class " and my wife Loves Edwards. But she won't vote for Obama because she doesn't like his wife, and I probably won't vote. Because I don't think he will be good, and I can't vote Republican. Speeches are wonderful but ....
High Crimes & Misdemeanors

Tourturous logic, mush57, please define what will be good. It seems you think he couldnt do any better in the future??? What gives. It's a pretty weak agument to say you wont vote for someone who wont be "good". Define good.

obama is going to lose in November and a lot of it is due to his " obamaniacs" I won't vote for him in the fall, and I haven't voted for a republican since I voted for Johnson in '64. , My wife won't vote for him because she doesn't trust his wife. and we are hard core Democrats from what used to be a Democrastic state. Gore - Powell will win 50 states. I'm sure that Clinton will be blamed for Obamas loss.
beltman713

What's Obama's wife got to do with anything? She would be the First Lady, and the last time I checked, the First Lady has NO power.
johnosahon
please don't vote, who is going to lose, that's right YOU. gas prices will increase, the war with iran will start, and i will pack my bags and leave you behind in U.S. while you and your wife will be left here, so please don't vote, come here and complain about mccain next year,
I've been a big Webb backer, but I'm starting to see Wes Clark as a good way to assuage the Clinton wing of the party.

Someone came to this thread and made every comment a zero (I put a point back, I dunno why). This rating system sucks.
Glad Edwards is giving Obama the nod. It is about damn time.

Tweety played a taped message to a WV voter (they were trolling for donations) and the woman's answering machine came on...the caller said something about "she hung up..." and then proceeded to say that maybe the woman thought she was a bill collector calling and didn't want to answer it, because "you know people in West Virginia are poor."

Someone asked earlier, and I just heard CNN say that Edwards has 19 pledged delegates....they aren't 'obligated' to switch, but of course he can urge them to move to Obama.

Sorry if this is old news, but I just read that Hillary is saying it would be a "grave error" for anyone to vote for McCain over Obama.
God help us, Wolf is interviewing Hillary (prerecorded) and she said she is not going anywhere until at least June 3rd. Plus she wants to make sure that all the Michigan and Florida votes are counted....
Maybe after Edwards' endorsement of Obama, she will reconsider.
Just. Go. Away.
OlderAndWiser
Actually, I think Edwards has 26 pledged delegates. And believe me, this timing is important for some reason. It's about the SDs at this point, and if Edwards can sway the remaining to Obama, it's all over for Clinton.
Besides, Edwards can probably bring some union support to Obama as well (aren't a lot of them those "white working class voters?").
Jim Olson

About fracking time.
OlderAndWiser

Wait, I think I stand corrected. Edwards did have 26 delegates, but under party rules, after he dropped out, 6 went to Obama and 4 to Clinton (a rule so arcane only the party knows how it works, I guess).

The only way now my hopes will be crushed is if Obama selects Hillary as his VP.

MORE UPDATES FROM JOHN: The Times made me laugh:
Officials announced the news shortly after Mr. Obama landed here late this afternoon. The campaign has timed the announcement to coincide with the start of the major evening newscasts, which would have otherwise focused on Senator Hillary Clinton’s landslide victory in West Virginia, which raised new questions about Mr. Obama’s strength with white working class voters.
LOL! Great!!! Wish I'd seen this sooner!
