Still going strong in 20,008? Fabulous! Do they know who will win in November? Just kidding John!
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
Undiscovered?? Like America in 1492--gimme a break.
  • jr · 1 year ago
    Sudbayaholics running wild
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
It's how you write, mostly. Very well informed and right to the basics of a story. And of course they different angles folks bring to the topic from their own unique life experiences.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
AND you have the scintillating, trenchant, and beautifully written comments by moi!
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Thanks Barack, opps, I mean John..for saying "we" made the top 100.

    :) :) :)

Undiscovered? Now I feel like a native american feelswhen they say Columbus discovered america!
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Good for you John, et al.

Ablog isn't anywhere close to where it should be as far as small blogs go (check Pam's House Blend for an example of what could be), but you guys do provide some interesting inside-the-beltway dish and analysis. Hell, I keep coming back.

Like most here, I've lived with the dread of nuclear weapons raining down my entire life. Grew up next to a major AFB, too. Thought that was somewhat lessened since the 90s but leave it to this administration to restore that and then go on steroids to instill it. That's the only thing left they hadn't fucked up. Thanks again, wingnuts.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
I haven't been able to see either candidate sworn in on Jan 20. This may be why. Martial Law.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
so there are 6 of these in the "news" category. #4 was townhall dot com. had to wash my monitor.
  • eliot99 · 1 year ago
I visit for the exotic and foreign tone of the posts. :)
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
I feel like the missiles are about to fly. I'm sure insane Cheney has us a DEFCON 1 or something right now.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Congratulations and it's about time you guys were recognized for the service you provide. The news papers have nothing on you guys! Congrats!!
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Everything's really fluid in that situation right now. Cheney and the other neocons could very well order US troops parachuting into Georgia right now, that's how crazy he is.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Putin's foreign minister has already stated they will use nukes. They're not fucking around with the neocons.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
8-8-8 is a symbol of wealth. They used it too. Because it's all about greed. Chinese, and there's alot they can be faulted for, but they should have been able to have their Olympics without Cheney kicking this off.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
It is sorta funny Cheney waited until he got the little turd out of the country.

    High Five!

I rely on this site and have been a regular reader for several years, but, um, what stories exactly were 'first broken' here? broken to americablog's readers, perhaps, but that implies that there's actual reporting going on. is there? by way of contrast, PC Mag's description seems to fit talkingpointsmemo.com much better. what I mean is, I don't remember any stories that big media should have credited americablog on, while TPM deserved that a couple of times (most notably in the US Attorney scandal.)
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
TPM is a good contrast (they broke the Jordanian bundler scandal too). They are a well-run business comparable to a small-town newspaper. The kudos to AB should probably have emphasized the analysis, not ground-breaking news.
  • SkippyFlipjack · 1 year ago
ok, wikipedia mentions the GannGUCKERTon scandal, as well as the purchase of wes clark's cel phone records. points taken, although those were a few years ago.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
    CONGRATULATIONS!

I've been around since John's "THE LIST" emails got me here.
But why is Americablog considered "undiscovered"?
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Russia has launched their missiles. We have about 8 minutes then. It's on my shortwave.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    Congrats, A-team.

    Here's a good read:

McClatchy reporter embedded with Iraq army.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Welp, that's basically the deal. That's how it will go down. No warning or nothing. Just zzzzzzt, you're vaporized and powder with your atoms mixing with the bricks, ashpalt and stray cat. But we ran a good race, fought the good fight. And that's what I plan to take with me. They can't take that away like everything else.
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
well, I take umbrage with the term "undiscovered", but still congrats.

now my blog.. thats undiscovered. lol
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    sweet!
  • Webster · 1 year ago
It's about time it was "discovered." I wouldn't have the foggiest idea what's going on the real world if AmericaBlog didn't cut through the CorporateM$M crap and give us all the information that's otherwise skewed or spun.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
Congrats to AmericaBlog, it starts the day for me and is my home page when I go online innertubing.
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
Yeah, I thought the "undiscovered" thing was a bit out of place for us and Townhall too, but still, not complaining. :-)
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
congrats to Americablog, this is one of the most stable and reliable political sites online. Few people can (and have) run one consistently over time without ego getting in the way and obscuring the purpose, John is one of the wise men of internet political sites and has my utmost respect.
  • DoctorJ · 1 year ago
PC Mag is seriously out of touch -- you are hardly "undiscovered"!
  • SociologistTina · 1 year ago
Congratulations, John! But they're a little slow-- I've been with you since 2004, if I'm not mistaken.

    My favorite blog.
  • lynne · 1 year ago
Ditto all the "WTF's" on the undiscovered part, but I do definitely get my breaking/daily news first here. I can't tell you the number of times a post on my site ends with "via AMERICAblog." ;)
  • Oldnovice · 1 year ago
Yeah ... those (big-number) visitors mentioned at the bottom of the page apparently didn't include the folks from PC magazine. Maybe they ought to change their name until they can keep up. :-)
