"Republicans are the national security party"-cable news
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
"Republicans are the national security party". John McCain is the national hero whose military records have not been released. What other Republican MYTHS will be spread around to contrdict the facts? Will the American electorate be fooled once again? I doubt it because the pain of this delusion has become to great.
  • DCinDC · 1 year ago
I will comment on this once again, but there really is not anything anyone can do but think about this.

It is funny that vice president Cheney held a big energy summit, a summit which nobody knows who really attended or what they really discussed, but soon after this event took place oil prices started to rise. Oil has continued to rise since Bush & Cheney took office. Somehow I have the feeling this Cheney energy summit has something to do with the contiued rise in oil and gas prices.

Now think about this. Do you really want McCain in there to extend the Cheney / Bush policies? Plus have McCain come in behind Bush to cover up the whole mess that Bush and Cheney have made?
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
    No, I really don't.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
More of the Same McCain will be soundly rejected in Novemember by a pained electorate which has finally had enough of being separated from their own interests.

Question: Can Obama open up the minutes to those agreements once he becomes President?

I wonder if the Saudis aren't voting with their Tap against the Neocons?

Anyway, the price for Gas would be half what it is now if the dollar had retained its value and conservation oriented policies had been implemented 7 years ago. Instead we'll have market induced conservation, but many little people will be hurt. There are people, many people, eating crappy food in order to be able to afford gas to get to their crappy jobs.

This is the result of the GOP's plan to impoverish America. Through the last 7 years of fiscal mismanagement (starting two illegal wars of naked aggression in order to hand trillions of dollars to war profiteers with US soldiers as pawns while irresponsible cutting taxes at the same time to intentionally destroy the value of US currency) is intended to strengthen Iran's prestige in the area. This was intentionally done by the Republican Party, with the full assistance of the Democratic Leadership, so as to create another enemy in the region.

The Republican Party needs a new justification for endless war profiteering and a new justification to needlessly slaughter US troops and a new justification to murder women and children in the middle east. This is what the Republican Party does, and the Democratic Leadership is happy to help bring this about.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Yes, yes, you have it all figured out. I will follow you now.
  • ComradeRutherford · 1 year ago
I am just calling it as I see it. Since Nixon the GOP has clearly has been intent on destroying the economy and then blaming the Democratic President that inherited the mess. The Democrats try their best to re-establish America's good name, but the GOP rigs elections to install their people and undo the work of the Dems.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Hell, maybe you're right and legit in your opinions. Who the fuck knows anymore? There are so many dissinformation people posing as democrats now online.

It's an Orwell World we live in.

  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Given a really Democratic control of Congress we'll see that they will stop this crap in its path and will not be " happy to help".
  • ComradeRutherford · 1 year ago
Yes, but there are only about 5 actual Democrats in all of Congress. The Democratic "Leadership" ran Cynthia McKinney out of town on a rail and backed a GOP operative posing as a Dem for her seat.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Well, Chris, since the dollar is only valued at about 70 cents compared to the Euro, why does this surprise you? The cheapened dollar has everything to do, along with speculation, with the price of oil. And how many of those speculators and profiteers in Big Business are transferring their wealth into Euros?

Of course, when Cheney had his secret "energy meeting" very early in this regime, everything, oil, electricity, coal, nuclear--every form of energy was discussed with the idea, I'm sure, to maximize profits during the Bush/Cheney tenure. I know for certain that a rep from Duke Energy (which controls a hell of a lot of electrical power) was present because it's been reported in this area, and believe me, electric costs have gone up at least 20% here, in spite of what used to be a consumer-friendly Utilities Commission in NC, and since both oil and coal are used in generating electricity, when those costs are increased, so is electricity, of course.

As long as the profit motive has, at least since Reagan, been the driving force and deciding factor in prices, leaving labor's needs in the dust and having no real basis for the kinds of increases we've seen other than profit, this economic cycle is far worse than any we've seen before for the average person. Bush/Cheney, in flouting the laws regarding consumers, labor, regulation, etc. have accomplished their real Mission and created a basis for real class conflict. Well, I say, bring it on...
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Will the majority be " Older and Wiser " in November? It's been a long time in coming. How many are still taking the cool-aid from Rush, Sean, the MSM and Bill O? Soon the economic pain will be great enough for an awakening.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Class warfare. ha ha The repukes are about to really see some real class warfare when they're driving around in shiny SUVs and many can't afford to drive but just back and forth to work. Saw that earlier. Weekend, nobody driving except shiny SUVs.

OT: Companies are now using a Federal Law to take away health benefits, especially life insurance from their employees.

    http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080705/benefit_battles....

But Spherion Corp., the temporary staffing company where Amschwand worked, told Amschwand-Bellinger she would not receive any of the $426,000 in benefits she believed she was due. When she went to court, Spherion succeeded in getting her lawsuit thrown out. The Supreme Court on June 27 refused to review the case.

Amschwand-Bellinger received a refund of the few thousand dollars in insurance premiums she and her husband dutifully had paid. The total, she said, would not cover the costs of his funeral.

The story has played out often under the federal Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Designed to protect employee benefits, the law has been used by employers as a shield against suits.

Federal appeals courts, interpreting Supreme Court decisions dating to 1993, consistently have said companies that offer health, life and retirement benefits under ERISA cannot be sued for large amounts of money, or damages. Instead, they can be sued only for typically smaller sums such as Amschwand's insurance premiums.

Instead the company simply refunded the money paid to have insurance with no interest or penalties.

What a country we have and what a stellar bunch of Senators who refuse the change this terrible law which has been in place since 1993. I was unable to find a voting record to see who all signed on but here we have another case where our Politicians enjoy the best health care, salary for life, car allowances, free air travel, as much free money as they can carry home, kick backs and bribes, jobs for family members either in their offices or with lobbyists and these assholes sit on their hands playing with their prostrate gland and deny benefits that have been paid for by the employee.
Every time I read another one of these stories i am amazed that no one votes in this country and that they continue to vote for the GOP who screw them every day in every way without any lube.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Perhaps that day of awakening is at hand. I've long wondered how long working Americans would continue to be duped by the Republithugs who use divisive social and religious wedge issues to garner the votes of the uninformed. Yes, perhaps the pain threshold has been reached and reality finally come to the fore. How many times can people be fooled by the same ruse? Once, twice, indefinitely????I think the threshold has been reached.

What many don't realize is that the severe fall in the value of the US Dollar was deliberate. The economic stewardship of the Bush/Cheney/Republican Party/Greenspan/ Bernanke crowd has been an unmitigated disaster for which this country will suffer long and hard into the future. They created an economic monster from which they profited and for which generations will suffer.

The terrorists won because of bush. Bin Laden said he wanted bbl of oil at $144 ten years ago. All our rights are gone living with soft fascism--for now. (OOH, OOH, OOH, I'M SO SCARED!! PLEASE PROTECT ME AND KEEP ME SAFE AND LOOK INSIDE MY BUNGHOLE IF YOU HAVE TO BECAUSE I SCARED!!)

This is a country of scared babies. How fucking pathetic. the GOP is and the average fat ass consumer.

The government does not even know what the total deficit is. It could be $12 Trillion or maybe as much as $15 trillion. In 2007 alone it was $4 Trillion.

    http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?A...

The real 2007 federal budget deficit was $4 trillion, not a previously reported $163 billion, an economist contends, based on data from the Treasury Department's annual financial report.

We will never pay our way out of this mess. Unemployment is zooming, we need people working to pay taxes. Corporations are off shore and don't report foreign profits so don't pay taxes on them. The rich got a tax cut so they aren't paying and unless something changes at McD's and Wendy's the college grads of today aren't earning enough money to ever pay taxes to get out from under our federal debt.

Good job, Chimpy, Good job, Pelosi, Good job Reid, Good job Delay, Good job, Hatchert, Good job you Dems and Repubs who enabled this dry drunk, incompetent, elitist ass hole.
  • RepubAnon · 1 year ago
Smart money says that the Bush Family's fortune was shifted from dollars to euros some time ago. Meanwhile, their "create a disaster to justify criminal acts" policies go on. The "scary Iranians with nukes" meme is easier to swallow with a topping of "if we take their oil, they can't afford to buy nuclear technology."

Anyone else notice how the "democracy = cheap oil" meme is being pushed? Their new theme song for the upcoming war with Iran is going to be Oil For Freedom and Democracy.

"Last week, Ford Motor reported that S.U.V. sales were down 55 percent from a year ago, while demand for its full-size F-series pickup, a gas guzzler that was the country’s best-selling vehicle for 26 consecutive years, is off 40 percent. The only Ford model to show a sales increase was the midsized Fusion. A Ford spokeswoman says the market shift is “totally unprecedented and faster than anything we’ve ever seen.”

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/06/business/06oi...

Here is an example of how our biggest companies are clued in to what is happening in the world. They have spent no time pursuing higher mileage for their vehicles even after the oil embargo in 1974. Now Ford is close to bankruptcy and that would put 180,000 people out of work in Canada and the U.S.

Yeah, America is Number 1----in incompetency. Our business are bankrupting at record rates and the people, well the people can't go bankrupt because our Federal Senators and Congressmen who took huge kickbacks from the credit card companies and banks voted to make it next to impossible. But big business continues to get welfare and pay huge salaries and walk away from their debt and their responsibilities to their employees.

America #1----we couldn't run a farting contest after a baked bean dinner.

And behold, there came out of the river seven cows, fat-fleshed, and well-favored; and they fed in a meadow:
And behold, seven other cows came out after them, poor, and very ill-favored, and lean-fleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness.
And the lean and the ill-favored cows ate up the first seven fat cows.
And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill-favored, as at the beginning.

GM's ceo recently as a year ago said, "SUV sales will remain strong in the coming years" or something like that.

    It really gets too absurd.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
The CEO of GM gets paid $8.5 million a year. I could have run the company into the ground for $85,000 a year look at the savings. These company executives are trained to lick the back of the balls of their bosses and the Board of Directors pay no attention to reality and shove shitty cars that have no life span down our throats. I watched a guy filling up his GM motorhome, you know the real stream lined one. He put $580 in the tank and remarked that he paid $200,000 for it and was offered $38,000. It is two years old and gets 6 miles to the gallon. I remarked back, "you my friend are as stupid as dirt". We are sucker punched every day by retailers, gas companies and don't forget our dear friends the politicians.

The weak dollar is hurting us everywhere. And the republicans still think they are better with money. I laugh when they try that old old old saw about spending liberals. I wonder what they think they and Chimpy have been doing for the past 8 years. Oh, yeah, I forgot, they also borrowed like drunken sailors as well as spent.
  • vwcat · 1 year ago
Crooks and liars had posted a video from the Onion about the Chimpy touring America to see the devastation caused by his presidency.
    It's funny but, also true.

I am expecting when Obama is sworn in and has a chance to go over the real damage done by Bush and Co., things are going to be alot worse then is being told right now.
I expect on many levels and many fronts that things are in horrific condition and the people are going to have be prepared for some very hard truths told about the reality of the total destruction to our country, treasury, ect., done by Bush.
I also expect to see alot of hearings and even some criminal proceedings against some if not alot of the Bush administratoin over the next few years.
The scandals of what they have really done is going to be a true lid blower.
And Obama said he is going to have his justice dept look over everything to see if criminal acts were committed and if able to prosecute, including Chimpy.
