Why are liberals ignoring Sarah Palin's expertise in Russian Affairs?

As you may know, Russia has been in the news a lot lately because of their invasion of Georgia, and their economic rebound. It's often said that Russia is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. And as a nuclear power and the worlds biggest country in terms of land mass, we need leadership that can understand this former superpower and cold war enemy.

Alaska is right next to Russia and some airlines in the past have flown directly between Anchorage and Vladivostok, highlighting the geopolitical importance of the country of Russia in its proximity to the Last Frontier state.

And as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin has dealt with the Russian Federation quite often. I'm not sure if she's been to Russia recently on her world travels, but this sense, she has more foreign policy experience in dealing with Russia than either Barack Obama or even Joe Biden.

I feel very confident in her experience should she have to assume the role of President in dealing with the world powers in general, and the current war on terror (where Obama still needs to declare which side he is on, America or the terrorists).

Which is something to think about libs.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
She couldn't even run a town of 7,000.

But, I have to admit, she was a shitty sportscaster.
  • lucky hussein · 1 year ago
her 'world travels?' she hasn't been anywhere, you dimwit propagandist. she applied for a passport for the first time when she went to iraq.

The commentary was not meant to be serious, hence the username.

I think you mean Kuwait btw.

FWIW, I got it, Pete. You were a little subtle sometimes, though. :)
  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
Sarah Palin's expertise in international affairs consists solely of drinking White Russians.

Just watched a little of Mitten's speech. to listen to the GOP it is the Dems who have been in power the last 8 years as President and in charge of Congress. Keeping Bush and Cheney home was frankly brilliant. They are not there to remind anyone of what useless fucks they are. The GOP have no new ideas because the last 8 years have been a DEM disaster. I do feel that by not pressuring Pelosi and Reid to go after the Administration on war crimes, illegal tapping, etc. the real truth on what has happened has been swept under the carpet. They are certainly the most party who spend the most on hair styling for their men. The love fest of the have and have mores continues and if America isn't sick to their stomachs then frankly this country deserves to be taken over by the Chinese. Why not have Joel Osteen talk about how God wanted him to be rich pre packaged horseshit that you can eat at home with the little wife and your 12 year old knocked up daughter who is practising abstinence but has been blowing the mail man, milk man and the guy reading the gas meter since she was 10. Yeah the party of values.

I just think it's ridiculous that the Republicans think they can talk about not being subject to Middle Eastern Oil when Bush is best friends with the Saudis.

Reuters already has their review of Palin's speech BEFORE she's given it:

I hear the National Enquirer is working on a tasty article about Sarah's misadventures.

    Just sayin'

.....considering how the repubs slimed and smeared Kerry, a decorated war veteran, I rather enjoy watching the little babies whine.

I hope the Enquirer digs up all kinds of juicy gossip !!

Yeah, I can't believe I'm rooting for the Enquirer, but there ya go.

(They say they sent their "Edwards Team" to Alaska. Yikes!)
  • ShakingHead · 1 year ago
Okay - not that we need to discuss them here but there are 2 interesting developments this evening that I read on a blog (democratic underground directed me there for Palin's church speech) www.2lesbosgoinatit.wordpress.com

    1) National Enquirer is investigating 2 Palin stories

    2) the video of GOP pundits saying what they really think of Palin and McCain's trickery

so - no discussion but interesting to note that like John Edwards, the National Enquirer is on the story
  • CrackityJones · 1 year ago
How dare Romney talk about Democrats increasing the size of government and talking about Big Brother when we've lived through 8 years of Bush and all the attacks on the Constitution he's brought about.
  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
Romney blames America's problems on UNIONS!!!!

    HERE’s SOME OF ROMNEY’s LIES:

+ The Unions have been shipping jobs overseas.

+ The unions have been killing pensions.

+ The unions have been keeping wages down.

+ The unions are the reason that the gap between the wealthy and the middle class has been growing by leaps and bounds.

+ The unions are the reason that the middle class is evaporating.

+ The unions are the reason that 47 million Americans have no health insurance.

+ The unions are the ones who have made the gap between CEO salaries go from 12 times that of their workers TO over 400 times that of their workers

The GOP has blown its opportunity for change. They were in power in the White House for the last 7-1/2 years. They held a majority of the senate for 6 years. They held a majority in the house of representatives for 6 years. What did the Republican majority do??? Feather the nest of the rich. Think no-bid contracts. Think Halliburton an oil field service company getting a no-bid contract to provide FOOD SERVICE to GIs.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Same speech he gives the poor wretches he lays off after he buys their companies.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
You go guy! And because of unions workers enjoyed 40 hour work weeks, got paid vacation and sick leave--all are disappearing under Republican rule.
  • lucky hussein · 1 year ago
incredible... thx Great bumper sticker I need to get, it has something like: 'Support unions'- brought to you by the people who brought you the weekend.

    and that's a fact...
  • BlueNTexas · 1 year ago
I wonder if this wins over those heavy union states?

Sad thing is, there are some dimwit voters who will believe it is the unions and not out-sourcing that has help to contribute to the horrible economy. If you say it enough, it makes it true.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
So if Palin has more executive experience than the entire Democratic ticket, that would mean she has more executive experience than McCain!

Shouldn't she be running for President and he for VP on their dumb ass, ignorant ticket?????
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Her "executive experience" wouldn't qualify her for a manager's job at McDonald's.

McSame and Evil-Lyn, er Palin, have been sniping at the media the entire time. The media has turned on McSame and merely asked questions of Palin.. now that she's bitching at them, they'll tear her apart.

Maybe the myth of the 'liberal media' will finally come true.. a self-fulfilling prophecy on the part of the GOP

    Here are the facts:

Republicans CONTROLLED the Senate for 6 of the last 7 years.

Republicans CONTROLLED the House of Representatives for 6 of the last 7 years.

A Republican has CONTROLLED the White House for the last 7-1/2 years.

The Supreme Court balance has tipped toward the NEOCON ideology.

The mess this nation is in will take DECADES to fix.

They really are running with last generation's messages aren't they? But let's face it, their record is contrary to those very principles. You want to complain about big government? Government spending has increased faster than ever under the Republicans. Deficits? Well, they created them again. The Republican's message is clear: Wouldn't it have been great if we actually did what we promised back in the '80s? But ignore what we've actually done. That's not fair, our candidate was a POW. Oh, and the other is a woman.

Keep talking about celebrity, Rudy. How many TV shows have you been on?
