    good morning

    Yes...I saw Michelle Obama on Colbert last nite....she was great !!

    This morning from the Washington Post:

    Poll Shows Erosion Of Trust in Clinton

    Lost in the Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign's aggressive attacks on Barack Obama in recent days is a deep and enduring problem that threatens to undercut any inroads Clinton has made in her struggle to overtake him in the Democratic presidential race: She has lost trust among voters, a majority of whom now view her as dishonest.

    oh Hillary....what a tangled web you weave.....

    Oh, I'm sure the "bitter controversy" will take center stage in an ABC-sponsored "debate." The only thing of interest will be how the network, which with their selective "news" coverage has pretty much already endorsed McSame, does its best to maximize conflict to increase the Republican fortunes this fall.

    I am really, honest to god, getting a little freaked out by Hillary-bot these days. I think I am seeing signs of truly craziness in her. The too tight smile, a little too tightly wrapped, robotron delivery of lines, she's as wooden as Kerry ever was, and has no real sense of humor at all. I think handlers are giving her very bad advice to smile as wide as she can, that fake laugh, all of that set even more contrast to the nastiness she has sunken to. The inane, insane attacks, where to even do them she has to pretend to have the comprehensive abilities of..god forbind, Bush...really, to misunderstand and make such a big deal about the "bitter" remark, saying in response "I don't see bitter people, I see people looking forward to the blah, blah"...sheesh.

    She is the elitist. Thinking she can just gloss over the real stuff, give them those fake-o compliments, get photo op with shot and beer, and those people are so dumb they will just embrace her to their collective bosom with cries of "she TRULY is ONE OF US...she will FIGHT FOR US!" is batshit insane. The people Obama described are not that obtuse, and are not the easily led by the nose.

    Obama speaks what he believes is the truth, you KNOW Hillary isn't, and she is the elitist for pretending she just has to do a few phony things and be taken in.

    Abuse Victims not Placated by Pope:

    “It is a great suffering for the church in the United States and for the church in general and for me personally that this could happen,” Benedict said........

    At a news conference in Boston organized by a victims’ group, Mr. Costello, who said he was abused by a priest in West Roxbury, Mass., starting when he was 10, said he was shocked that the pope would talk about his own suffering and that of the church while making no mention of the harm done to victims.

    “What about the suffering of the children?” he said, adding that he planned to travel to New York to read aloud the names of victims on Friday while the pope addresses the United Nations.

    So far, Hillary's attacks on Obama, calling him an elitist, feigning outrage at his bitterness remarks, taking a shot at a bar, and even talking about her hunting experience, seems to be a dud. Most polls show that Obama's standing in the polls the same, or a little better. Perhaps, people are seeing Hillary for who she really is - a desperate, lying, divisive woman. I hope this nonsense we are witnessing stops, and that we can all rally behind the candidate who leads in every way. It is pathetic to see the Clintons try different ways to throw that kitchen sink at Obama. It is a shame that Obama has to spend his time fending off attacks from someone who comes from his own party. Somehow, Hillary will have to live with the notion that she is a spoiler, who just did not know when to quit, for the sake of her party.
    Democrats will never forget this.

    Wolcott at Vanity Fair:

    I'm afraid Michelle Obama doesn't get it. Auditioning for the role of First Lady of this great, godawful land, her task is to beam at her husband as if every day was the first page of a lifelong adventure novel unfolding like a succession of blue skies (with a few storm clouds around to build character through adversity), nod with agreement at each sage talking point, applaud metronomically at conclusion of said point, and then wave a big buh-bye to the crowd as if victorious confetti were falling.

    That's how it's always been done and breaking with tradition now risks frightening punditry's pale males with retractable penises who are intimidated by strong black women such as Michelle Obama.........

    April 16, 2008

    BAGHDAD — A company of Iraqi soldiers abandoned their positions on Tuesday night in Sadr City, defying American soldiers who implored them to hold the line against Shiite militias.

    The retreat left a crucial stretch of road on the front lines undefended for hours and led to a tense series of exchanges between American soldiers and about 50 Iraqi troops who were fleeing.

    Good morning, A-World!
    Joe sweetly wonders "What's going on in the real world?"
    There are so many "real" worlds out there:
    the personal finances that keep gasoline in the tank of my car are not in real good shape;
    the political quarrel that surrounds us all is demoralizing;
    the papal visit is a planned attack on the Constitution;
    the real estate market in my neighborhood has sagged about 30%;
    the people whom I respect locally for their work in finance and real estate and sports and thought are mostly retiring or pulling out of central Florida to explore their options somewhere else.

    Generally speaking, apparently successful people around me seem to have had their mirrors tilted and are about to run. It's a mixed up world but we always have song. . . Lola, la la la la, Lola . . .

    Sick and tired of the MSM fawning over the leader of a theocracy...and I take note of the victims of pedophile priests who are disgusted as well.

    Additionally, I want to know how much money is being spent by the taxpayers of this country for all the bowing and scraping for a CEO who not only wears Prada, but sets himself up as a god-like figure. Would such protection be provided for any other religious figure? I've never seen a religion yet that doesn't have a hierarchal structure of some sort, with a "head."

    Separation of church and state, people.

    The "elitist" stuff is too ridiculous folks. I mean, you morons that voted for president the guy you'd most like to sit down and have a beer with (never mind that Bush has all the signs of a mean drunk) and look how it worked out.

    Maybe there is some other criteria than someone like the shlub you stand all day at the counter of McDonalds alongside for best president?

    Me, I want a leader, I want someone smart, but also humane enough not to think of us too often as pawns in a game of chess. I mostly want someone smart enough to get good and VARIED advisors, and listen to them, and allow opinions or ideas that even conflict with your own. I want someone that wants to see this country run by rule of law again, take seriously the pledge to obey and uphold the constitution, and that knows the rule of any good thief...you gotta leave ENOUGH behind, don't take it all....

    Elitist doesn't enter into it. "Effete" wouldn't be good, you do need someone strong enough to say the truth, instead of what we have now...folks hiding behind phrases.

    And more bad news on the financial front--dollar drops again against the Euro, housing starts at 17 yr low, JPMorgan profit drops 50% in first quarter (I guess Dimon is as stupid as Schwartz?):.
