By next week Karl Rove will have people thinking that Obama is planning the next WTC attacks; that he eats babies; that he is homah-seck-shul; that he will pay every African-American a full year's salary; that he will rape white women in the Oval Office...and on and on. And you know what? That tactic will garner McSame votes. When a GOP candidate has people at his rallies crying out "Kill him", you can bet that this stuff works.

Actually, from the few comments I've been able to stomach from the wingnut trolls, they already think that. Seriously. They believe that Obama is going to take away their rights, imprison them, send the gays after their children, contaminate their water... well, except for the gay thing, everything Bushco has already done.

I was extremely offended by McCain's referring to Obama as "That one." More important than what was said, was how it was said. Adding insult to injury, after the debate I hear the overexposed Pat Buchanan state that McCain had to "strip the skin of the back of Obama" if he had any hope of changing the game. Are these guys living in the 21st century, or are they simply unable to control their racism?

Indeed it was a great night for Obama and for the Americans. Albeit, I agree in your statement that the goopers will go "thermonuclear" on their attacks and it will be carried by the media, as they always do, it is also important to note that most of the time it works (re: Kerry). I just hope that Obama - Biden camp will be as vigilant and proactive in their strategies to counter this expected attacks from the desperados. Desperate people have nothing to loose but their souls.

My republican girlfriend agreed that Obama won resoundingly. It was funny to watch her facial expressions when McCain spoke. The look on her face said, "what in the hell is he trying to say?" "He's rambling incoherently." Although, her quote of the night was, "if I hear McCain say "my friends" one more time I'm gonna puke."
Incidentally, she is voting the Obama ticket without any convincing as she absolutely ABHORS Sarah Palin.

French film legend-turned-activist Brigitte Bardot took a swipe at Sarah Palin on Tuesday, saying the US vice presidential candidate was a disgrace to women.
"I hope you lose these elections because that would be a victory for the world," Bardot wrote in an open letter to Republican John McCain's running mate in the November vote.
In a final salvo against Palin, the 74-year-old ex-star picked up on Palin's depiction of herself as a pitbull wearing lipstick and said she "implored" her not to compare herself to dogs.
"I know them well and I can assure you that no pitbull, no dog, nor any other animal for that matter is as dangerous as you are," Bardot wrote.
This ‘note’ offers a possible glimpse into the McCain hotel room the morning after his second debate, which he so thoroughly mangled.

Breakfast TV Yawping Heads:
Well, last night's debate was won decisively by . . . SARAH PALIN! Yes, she rocked the house, and she wasn't even there, and even though her name wasn't even mentioned.
Lest any of you liberal Americablog Kidz think Obama won hands down, the Morning Joe team punked you by pretending to be all excited for . . . a BASEBALL game! Yes, the Red Sox were far more interesting than those two BORING guys in Nashville, who didn't land any knockout blows (although watery Harold Ford Jr. kept obsessing about "slow bruising"). "Nothing happened," lovely Mika complained. The town hall format was contrived and didn't allow any "Thrilla" to happen--and Fox and Friends HATE Tom Brokaw for making the debaters as awkward and boring as he must be.
Mika rocked with laughter when Willie showed the clip of McCain pointing to Obama and saying "That one." That's McCain just being his crusty 'n lovable self, as far as she is concerned. But when the usually smarm-on-toast Geist Junior is the only one pointing out how necessary it was to conduct an issues-centered debate with probity and professionalism, Mika had to concede that in these perilous times we "don't have to like our President," if he's dull and boring--if dull and boring are what gets the country through the night.
No, the real winner was: Mika's (and all the Morning Joe and Fox and Friends) beloved Sarah! Why couldn't she be top of the ticket, putting a f^ck-me pump stiletto into Obama's boring carcass last night?! Now THAT would have been the show everybody wanted! But the people of Joe's hometown on the Redneck Riviera were the lucky ones yesterday, standing in the rain all day for their goddess to show up in Pensacola. Even Mama Scarborough did! And it was the bestest day of her long life (even better than the day she uncrossed her legs 45 years ago and gave Joe to a grateful world!). That's what Joe said. 10,000 people! She's like Obama when he started out (and before he got stale after 20 months on the campaign trail). No, more like the Beatles--yes, like when the Beatles said they were bigger than Jesus Christ! That's how big and exciting and, gosh darn it all, how fabulous Sarah is! She will drag that old guy over the finish line with her. All of which means: start up the printing presses for the Palin 2012 campaign. It's starting already!!!

It's a good thing Ms Richards! Don't forget that fans of Fox Noise were polled and Obama won hands down their as well. This is actaully the beginning of the end for the GOP, and they know it. The conditions in this country that have allowed the GOP to thrive have withered. Below is a response by Grandma, I think you'll find it interesting.
Undecided Racists
Coates said it best yesterday: "Racism is a luxury that, at this point, a lot of white voters can ill-afford. I think a crucial number of them know that."
So is Palin campaigning at the KKK headquarters directly today, in her whitest winter white?

Grandma, this is an excellent little article--and something I could never have believed would happen:) This makes my day. This is that point of critical mass that America has arrived at. In truth, it's racism that has kept these workers down and economically depressed. You'll usually find a certain level of educational depravity in the same gutter as overt racism. The world is moving at a fast pace, and will usually leave these conditions (often socio-economic) far behind. Racism affects their ability to come up into the light with respect to so many other things.

Here's an excellent 9-minute video on "The creation of whiteness." Time Wise explains how the concept of "the white race" was created to keep white people in their place. Fascinating.
I'm very familiar with Tim's writing Nicho. I'm not pointing a stick at white america in the least, but I've around the block and I know the type of racial hatred and emotion Palin is evoking in her rallies. American's are hurting, and they're looking for someone or something to blame.
I can promise you this! Palin's attacks against Obama are bordering on something sinister and dark, and the Secret Service is looking into the matter.
I can guarantee that Palin's rallies are going to get nastier, meaner, and more racist. That's a good thing though! This is perfect timing for the Obama campaign, and will really throw the light on the type of VP/possible President Palin would be.
She'll damage her image beyond repair, and the Republican brand with it.
And that is worth what we'll have to go through for the next 28 days.

I don't think anyone is really worried about McCain and his crew going nuclear. It's over! Any issues McCain couldn't bring up face to fact with respect to his opinion about Obama's character--are now a foregone conclusion. Obama just needs to press hard down to the last second of the race.

Check NYT and other MOR media. "No knockout punches"....
Dumbing down continues on schedule. Long as no one ended up crying "uncle" or huddeld in a fetal position on the floor, sucking their thumbs, there was no "knockout". Doesn't matter if one acted insane, one like a leader.
It was a decidedly simpler time with Reagans "there you go again..." catchphrase. It's like the handlers all are trying to write a new hit song, but they all have tin ears.
It's crap. And when one looks at how badly (and I have no doubt he cheated...remember the bulge in the back of his jacket and his manner?) Bush did, and won the election. Bush I and Reagan ala "there you go again" were simpler times. There won't be THOSE moments again. We need a leader. McCain is a confused, no new thought kinda guy. We don't need him.
We have to stop pretending this is a boxing match, or that polls matter (percentage when the candidate is black are always a few points higher than reality because people claim they'd vote for him (i.e. they know it is the SMART thing and can't handle claiming McCain is worth a crap, for their egos) still won't because he is black. For another, (the good news) when you look at most likely electoral, Obama won already...just like in the primaries with Clinton, the writing is on the wall.
But we have to keep working at it too...as if we were behind.

Barack showed his ease and understanding of the plight of the American people and his dedication to the middle class and average Americans. He is geared toward them/us! He came across as serious about fixing our problems and bringing America up to 21st Century standards and getting rid of a lot of programs that just do not work anymore. He also showed his mindset toward dealing with other countries and how we are all in this together and we have to work together on a world scale to address our global and world problems.

Oct. 7, 2008 | "My government is my worst enemy. I'm going to fight them with any means at hand." This was former revolutionary terrorist Bill Ayers back in his old Weather Underground days, right? Imagine what Sarah Palin is going to do with this incendiary quote as she tears into Barack Obama this week. ONLY ONE PROBLEM. The quote is from Joe Vogler, the raging anti-American who founded the Alaska Independence Party. Inconveniently for Palin, that's the very same secessionist party that her husband, Todd, belonged to for seven years and that she sent a shout-out to as Alaska governor earlier this year. ("Keep up the good work," Palin told AIP members. "And God bless you.") ALSO, Palin quoted James Westbrook Pegler, a facist and racist, in the debate?" http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2008/10/07...
McCain Camp cannot talk about the economy because their Economics are for the Rich, the well-off and the well connected!
I called my neice during the debate last night because she's a political junkie and I was surprised when she said she'd turned it off. When I asked her why, she said she just couldn't listen to McCain's "spit slither" at the end of every sentence for another minute. When I resumed watching after talking to her, I was totally grossed out because suddenly that's all I could hear. You'd think his handlers would have taught him to swallow rather than suck it in... he was starting to sound a little Hannibal Lecter.
Despite the talking heads (Brokaw was especially offensive on Morning Joe this morning) and apologists this morning, even the Repubs were "dialing" McCain down last night. If Obama can keep everyone excited about actually going to the polls and not thinking he doesn't need their vote because he's won it then it really is over now

Obama has to do better than he did last night. He was emotionally flat as a pancake and not the least bit honest with the people. One ot two moments was about all.
And when the hell is he going to counter McCain's smarmy talk about being so grateful to the troops with the fact he voted against education for returning vets because it was too expensive and that he voted against most bills that would have provided better health care for returning vets. C'mon Obama, expose the maverick for what he is. A Hypocrite.

I noticed something in the debate last night that struck me as being very off so I watched it again on CNN and saw it for the second time. When Obama began to answer the question regarding health care as a commodity - McCain appears in camera view behind him facing towards Tom Brokaw. He used his hand to make a slight cutting motion in that direction and it struck me as very odd. After that topic was finished, Brokaw stated that they were going to change to foreign policy. This looks like an obvious set up so I'm wondering if anyone has other camera angles recorded to show this more clearly. Something was definitely going on and it looks to me like more proof of Brokaw's bias in this debate. Not that it helped in the end..... Did anyone else notice this?
