AMERICAblog: What Wesley Clark really said; how the press missed it
BorninUSA

Poor Johnny. Whenever anyone says anything that hurts his feelings he goes on television with that sad, sad long face and in his quiet voice says "nobody should say that about him." What a lyin' sack of s**t! He knows what his military record was and thinks we don't know. Whoever hung the "hero" title on him didn't know any better. But then maybe McShame gave himself the title. The definition of hero is not McShame.

Barack has been calling McBush hero since day 1. W.r.t. the Press, if you haven't noticed, we don't have one. What we have is Fascist Corporate News - staffed by highly paid whores. This is why Obama's strategy is to suck up to the GOP - to assure them that they are safe, and no will pay for the crimes committed during the Bush regime, etc, and no worries - Obama will treat the 25% of insane Americans that are the hard right as if they represent 50% of the country. Out of 300,000,000 Americans the best we can do is a 75 year old male slut, a washed up lady who's ego is so big she borders on megalomania, and a young black man who lacks a backbone as well as courage and integrity. Same ol'e s***, different decade.

John McCain's POW status does NOT make him any more special than anyone else who signed up for service. It could have happened to any serviceman and it's not like he volunteered specifically to be tortured for his country. It's sad for him that he got captured and was treated badly for so long but that's it. Just the fact that he won't even stand up against the U.S. torturing others proves that he has no honor. What's it take?
Also, I would worry ALOT about what that time did to him mentally. Not good.

AND, a REAL patriot would not accept FULL DISABILITY PAYMENTS when he has millions of dollars and 9 houses of his own. Dems should lable him as the "disabled candidate". I mean, either you ARE or you are NOT.

McCain's free ride. You ever wonder why no one brings up the question of his patriotism. He has wartime documents yet to be de-classified. The man was privileged and a screw up...graduating fourth from the bottom of his class.
Helloo "librul" media? Anyone remember "the Dukester?" You know, the guy who got 8 terms in Congress - before he got 5 years in Fed custody - for trading off his 'he-man-fighter-pilot-war-hero' gravitas? It is one element of someone's credentials or qualifications, but it ain't the be all/end all of why someone's a great candidate, especially when you're constantly talking about 30 year old experience like it happened last week. That's the point Wesley Clark was making.

I think there's a reason that all those mainstream guys and gals are making like Donald Sutherland at the end of the 'Body Snatchers' remake. McCain is out of bounds! it's true! how many pundits have you heard say, straight up, that McCain's "experience" goes without question.
Clark walked into Unca Bob's little trap but I'm glad he did. McCain doesn't freaking DESERVE to be president and that's the general consensus, in so many words, from all these people who are suddenly besides himself.
Camp McCain is taking the low road - in no uncertain terms. they are calling Obama incapable of being trusted and of almost certainly enabling TERRORIST ATTACKS and those people are acting like they are taking the high road - that the mere act of suggesting that being a P.O.W. DOESN"T somehow mean McCain deserves to be President.
give them the luxury of context at our peril. it's a luxury they need and have come to expect.

a religion for Junkies and Whores Who wants to convert to christianity in Iran, is rated by the regime in Teheran as a security threat. The news agency "Farsnews" that is close to the military , published a 4-parted series about the rising threat thru Christian communities. Because it was published along with legislation that rates breaking away from Islam (apostasy) as a crime and which triggers the death penalty for male beings and for women it triggers punishment with life-long prison, such propaganda could be the signal for total prosecution of christianity.
That's too bad--there's nowhere for Christians to go in the Mideast anymore.
Iraq had one of the more tolerated Christian communities in the Mideast, until Bush invaded and got them all killed.

I'm glad you said this. I've been watching and hearing, ad nauseum, how Clark had said this or that. No, what he said -- plain as the nose on anyone's face -- that combat experience doesn't necessarily make a good president. And given that ol' Fart was "abused" and possibly suffered severe psychological damage -- which is obivious from his tantrums and emotional outbursts--I'd say it's more of a detraction than an asset to be a POW (which doesn't automatically make one a "hero", either). BTW, where's the press when Bush was saying the same thing about this blathering old Fart when he was annointed the Little Prince?

This is where I get pissed off at the Dems. The proper response should be:
The McCain campaign is well aware that issues surrounding his military service and that experience as qualification for commander-in-chief were first brought up by Republicans during the 2000 primary campaign in South Carolina. It is assumed that Republicans chose George Bush in that election over McCain's candidacy partially because of those questions - and neither he nor his campaign should be surprised that the same questions raised by Republicans in 2000 about using his POW and military service status as qualification for the presidency would resurface today.

Hey, if Rush gets it anyone should be able to get it. Anyway even if Clark had been questioning McCain's record why isn't that OK? It was OK for Bush to disclaim McCain in 2000, it was alright for Bush to send the swift-boaters after Kerry in 2004. Now all of a sudden when McCain is on the train headed for a wreck he gets all defensive of his record. So shut up McCain and take your lumps. You know as well as anyone or more than most what your record is so quit trying to make us think it is honorable. And by the way....you are no hero.

On a related point, there was a study that showed that fighter pilots who transitioned to civilian aviation and became airline pilots tended to work less well as a team with their crew. Their characteristics were to observe a strict pecking order and not value input from other crew members. As I remember form the study (it was featured on PBS's "Nova", I think), these pilots were involved in higher accident rates and near misses, due to their reluctance to effectively delegate authority and trust the competence of their fellow crew members.
Sure sounds like more of the same arrogance to me.

The point is this isn't a "little group" we whine to. I've heard mainstream media mention things they have read on Americablog and the comments section, so I'd appreciate you being a little less snarky about what I've written.
I've even had comments I've made picked up by major media after John posted it, so you really didn't make a point by your criticism. If you don't believe one of my comments was used and quoted by the mainstream media, I'll be happy to provide a link. Then again, here it is.
Insane McCain can not allow any questioning of his carefully retooled history as "war-hero" and "POW." It can not sustain any direct attacks because it is a false house of cards. General Clark's comments were correct, to the point, and if anything way too mild. The MSM have been wooed by McCain for too long and at great cost , and it would appear successfully de-fanged to their great discredit to tell the whole truth about Insane McCain. McCain was already a playboy before he was graduated 5th FROM THE BOTTOM of his Annapolis class. The plane he was shot down in was the fifth Navy plane he wrecked. He COLLABORATED WITH THE ENEMY IN NORTH VIETNAM. Morally, across his entire existence he appear to have been BANKRUPT and possibly even more of aa whoremonger than Bill Clinton. HIs political career, which shows him to have been sucking on the public tit, is littered with deals and scrapes such as the Keating scandal; he doesn't seem to know anyone who has not recently been a lobbyist with questionable dealings. His campaign people are so desparate that they have dreged up Swiftboat Slime to help them spread their lies. Anyone who was awake during the last election would know that ANY connection with these liars is the kiss of death to a decent person's campaign; but there you have it Insane McCain IS NOT A DECENT PERSON; McCAIN IS A FRAUD AND A LIAR; HE IS NOT FIT TO BE PRESIDENT. He has only been kept in Arizona office by dint of shady connections, influence and favor peddling, and of course the inherited money of his trashy drug-addict thief of a second wife with who he originally had an adulterous affair. He is incompetent and a moral leper and possibly the only person who could be A WORSE PRESIDENT THAN GEORGE W. BUSH!

This was in today's Denver Post:
McCain a Traior? - By Leonard Pitts Jr. The Miami Herald
"I have no idea when reverence fled these shores. That it did, however, seems obvious. What else can you conclude when the service of military men becomes a routine object of mockery and misinformation in the name of politics? Ladies and gentlemen, I give you John McCain: traitor.
In most quarters, of course, the senator is a war hero, having survived over five years of beatings, solitary confinement and deprivation in a Vietnamese prison camp, even refusing an offer of early release because it meant leaving fellow prisoners behind.
But John Aravosis, who blogs on Americablog.com accused McCain of "disloyalty" because at one point, his captors tortured him into reading a propaganda statement. I submit that John Aravosis would read a statement denouncing his own mother if you beat him long enough. Most of us would. That Aravosis has done precisely that is bizarre, shameful and crude -- but not unprecedented.
Still it strikes me as vescerally wrong, offensive at the mitochondrial level, to trivialize, demean or diminish, particulary for political gain, a man's service and sacrifice on behalf of his country."
Just thought that John ought to be aware of this!

Whats really dumb is not what Gen. Clark said, but his actions representing the Obama campaig (who's run a brilliant strategy to date). Why on Earth would Obama surrogates take on McCain in an area where he is both respected and admired by the American people?!?!? There's plenty to attack him on policy merits & beliefs, if you're a die-hard Dem! Then again, I suggest Dr. Dean and the DNC continue attacking McCain's military service and years spent in Hanoi. This will be a guaranteed tactic for ensuring the AZ Senator reaches the White House in '08.
P.S. Trying to "swift boat" McCain, as revenge for Kerry 2004 is futile. Kerry set himself up for failure, through his anti-war actions, upon returning from Vietnam and his actions didn't play well in the Heartland. Good luck trying to drum-up parallel comparisons from John McCain!!
Also, I would worry ALOT about what that time did to him mentally. Not good.
