AMERICAblog: "What would Todd do?"

  • Savage8862 · 1 year ago
He won a sled race. We can't question his ethics. Just as we can't question McCain's ethics because he's a POW and Governor Palin's ethics because she is a woman. Her husband, Todd Palin won a sled race and that should be all we need to know..so stop slandering him.

Which will be essentially the Republican argument when the spot light shifts to hunky Todd.
  • Ferry_Fey · 1 year ago
Todd's won a number of snowmobile races, but he was penalized for cheating in at least one of the races. A forum discussion says NPR may have mentioned it last year.

    http://www.supercub.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?p=...

I haven't heard any consistent coverage of what Todd Palin does these days. One article implied that he was a househusband, getting kids off to school and making meals. Another seemed to say that it was Sarah's mother who took care of the little ones.

I don't think I've heard anyone say Todd plans to quit his job in the oil business, or give up salmon fishing to stay home with the babies. Does he want to come to Washington to be Clinton-era Hillary, rather than be there for Trig in this crucial time?
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Honestly, and respectfully, I don't care what Todd does. He isn't running for anything. And Sarah is 2nd on the ticket.

However JOHN McCAIN is running for President and I do care what he would do.

    Back to the economy . . .
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
And yet Hillary, trained in the law, who is pretty much the smartest person in any room, gets nothing but grief for doing much the same thing but actual good for the people of this country.

I wonder, as a Good Christian Woman(tm), does Todd ultimately control everything she does? Shouldn;t he? (Why is she even out of the Kitchen?)

    my thoughts on this are:

    1) The "big boys" have decided to pull the plug on McCain / Palin.... McCain's very unhealthy and unstable at this point, and Ms. Palin is grossly unqualified AND she has her own agenda... I do think the "pitbull" description of her is accurate, but it's her own agenda that she'd pursue, not theirs... basically she's too dangerous / unpredictable .... and while she's "going along" with McCain's advisers now, the last several photos of them together, even with McCain grabbing and groping, both their expressions look strained... In other words, I think Sarah and her closest friends are starting to push.

    2) Rove's "analysis" this morning on Fox that the ads on both sides were crossing the line was an attempt to draw an equivilancy between McCain's outright lies and Obama's hit back.... in effect he was telling the viewers the lie didn't justify the response, which is a crock of shit... and also, they are starting to feel some blowback from their campaign of lies -- Rove's job was to try and soften the criticism....

Rove also is currently pushing the "mccain can't use a computer because he was a pow" crap... seriously, those kind of defenses of McCain's being too mangled from his POW days are going to leave the impression that he may be too feeble / unhealthy for the office, because they sure as hell can't claim that his brain is functioning, all you have to do is look and listen to him try and answer a simple question .... he can't do it.

don't know how "first rate" that is, but it's my 2 cents.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
outstanding analysis...we need you on tv!!!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
good lord - i apologize for the redundancy...i thought my putee was goofing up...sorry!
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
LOL I can see where Rove's statement might cause such a response! Like triple double take.
  • Will_In_Midtown · 1 year ago
I know Hillary must have had her nose in Bill's business when they were in the White House. But at least Hillary went to college.

Having some backwoods snowbilly with no formal education whatsoever helping call the shots is another reason this entire episode scares the wee wee out of me....

Both Todd and Sarah channel JESUS. ... however, Sarah channels Jesus AND feminism. Interesting how the feminists have been nearly silent about Sarah; that's because they recognize her as "one of their own". Grrrrrrrrrrls RULE !!!!
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
I can assure you that is not the case.
  • RevDrBillyBob · 1 year ago
When Eleanor Smeal or Gloria Steinem say Word One against Palin, please buy
some space in USA TODAY. Or perhaps because of the shock value, USA TODAY
will simply donate an entire page to the story. Most women will support
McCain-Palin; one would have thought that something like, uh, "Roe v. Wade"
was important, but obviously that concern is a bit overstated . . .
President McCain will appoint a conservative to the US Supreme Court, and
Roe v. Wade will be "history," and most women won't care. ... And don't
expect Obama-Biden to do any serious campaigning . . . obviously when you
again nominate Sensitive Nineties Guys as nominees, this is what you get.
And Hillary would have delivered a similar, wimpy effort. Too bad, but
here's the truth: the Wimpocrats have no genuine desire to be in charge.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
Gloria Steinem has said several words about Sarah the Wolfkiller...how could you have missed it?

  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
RevDrBillyBob, don't believe what you're being told on the TV "news", they are "reporting" what the McCain camp wants them to... Team McCain is lying about EVERYTHING, including the size of their crowds and the "support" among women... and yes there will be women that will vote for mccain / pailn, but it will likely have nothing to do with her gender.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
Rev, I searched your comment for some hint of snark and when I didn't find it I concluded that yours is the screwiest analysis I have read in a loooong time.
  • RevDrBillyBob · 1 year ago
That's because Ah does certainly channel JESUS, just like Sister Sarah Palin
    does. And
remember: Criticize Palin = Hate Women, Hate Jesus.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
not even close, take a look at the women's rally in Alaska the other day... the women in her own state don't think she's qualified, and don't agree with her views ... a little less that 2000 folks showed up ... mostly from the looks of it women ... the counter protest across the street drew maybe 20 ...

    Best sign from teh rally:

    McCain / Palin
    Unstable / Unable

I am not very familiar with the Assemblies of God church but if it is like other fundamentalist churches, don't they teach that women are subordinate to men? If so, what does this mean for a Palin presidency (yikes! what a horrific notion)
  • beltman713 · 1 year ago
They are fundamentalists, and yes they teach that women are subordinate to men. So Todd may actually be running Alaska, instead of Sarah.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Honestly, I don't care about Todd Palin. The focus on McCain's character, integrity, and leadership ability are all that matter to me, it appears he fail in all categories. Even Rove questions if McCain has gone too far. I love the comeback by the Obama campaign to Rove's criticism of McCain tactics.

"In case anyone was still wondering whether John McCain is running the sleaziest, most dishonest campaign in history, today Karl Rove - the man who held the previous record - said McCain's ads have gone too far," said Obama campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
I don't trust the integrity of any statment Rove makes.....there is method in his madness....always.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
I've never seen that before. A sentence that uses the words "integrity" and "Rove" together.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    yeah...Rove integrity.....there's an oxymoron.
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
Speaking of the economy.....I am not a mathematical genius nor am I an expert on economics but I know that you cannot cut taxes and continue to spend more. My budget at home is based on spending less if I am earning less. We don't need the expertise of Alan Greenspan to tell us this simple fact of economics. Everyone who has ever had rent to pay, food to buy, clothes to buy, kids to educate, knows this simple fact. But apparently when you join the world of big government this knowledge flies out the window and the new mantra is "revenue less, expenditures more." Go figure.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
Now here's an ad that would get some heads turning.... A heartbeat away
  • CPL · 1 year ago
This is meaningless if the Obama camp isn't going to do anything about it.

I am frustrated beyond belief. It appears that while Obama' trying to win this thing, he's surrounded by jackasses determined to see him lose.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
It's amazing how these religious people will follow this stuff as if it is the gospel. You can say and see the ski is blue but I be damn these idiots will say its green and your wrong. Stop picking on Sarah. I thought that SNL captured the true essence of Palin. I am trying hard not to following that they are actual ahead with indenpendents. I mean Obama raised $66 million and has had an increase in voter turn out. We now see that they were lying about the crowds at their stops. Surely people aren't that dumb to believe this stuff. Its like I have been on another planet. Since when is it ok to say that Palin who went to 6 colleges (god nows if she really got a degree) and Obama went to Harvard is like a bad word. Since when is it bad to have Obama's intelligence? I am a WalMart shopper, 60 yrs old, well travelled around the world with only a high school ed., and can speak another language enough to get me around the country I visit, plus a woman. I am not stupid. I would never vote for a woman like Palin. Hell I didn't like Hillary. But at least Hillary could lead and I would have voted for her. Palin can't shine Hillary's shoes. Shame on McCain. When he left the Naval Academy (which I visited) he left the most important thing a naval officer has, and it is his HONOR. Obama is right when he say he rather win an election by lying. I think if Obama goes after him on his Honor that would have some effect on him. He doesn't like having is honor attacked. It would bring his temper out.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
McCain is a lying sack of shit. He has zero honor, and his policies mirror Bushes'. This is what we need to get out.
  • 40something · 1 year ago
Why do I keep seeing media outlets refer to her as "Ms. Palin"? Shouldn't it be "Mrs."?
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
It might be a bit of a "dig" at her brand of "feminism"... and they think that it would probably piss her off.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Why are we even talking about her?
  • sittenpretty · 1 year ago
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
    Hysterical, sittenpretty.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
funny as hell, did you hear the one they did asking Ms. Palin to be his VP?
  • beltman713 · 1 year ago
    Of course, it's obviously fake.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
    OMG that was hilarious!

He does not even have a college degree. Good grief America....wake up. Every single American should be sh*tting in their pants about now. He could not even work in my old architecture firms office as an assistant...and he could very well be assisting Palin on decisions? Once McGrumpy kicks the bucket,.....this is what we have folks.

    -How did we get here?

Get out the vote, get the word out on these people and DONATE TO 527'S AND OBAMA.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Hell, she barely has a college degree and she's on the ticket.

Five schools in six years for a lousy communications major.
  • shell · 1 year ago
Of course she must have her HUSBAND telling her what to do. She is a "Christian" after all. Women know nothing, except what their husbands tell them to think.
