AMERICAblog: When FOX news defends Obama, we've finally seen everything

  • truebluecoondog · 1 year ago
    Dear President-Elect Obama,

I know there are 2 wars and a financial crisis going on but if there is any way you can get one more thing on your priority list, it will be appreciated by multitudes of Americans who voted for you. Please see what can be done to get Rush Limbaugh off the airwaves. This guy is a hateful bigot and is a force of divisivenes among the good people of this country. His radio show does not serve any positive purpose whatsoever.

If there is anything I can do to help, call me.

    Sincerely,
    Blog Commentor

How about us not talking about RL or mentioning Drudge.

    Don't go to Drudge Website.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
I wanted to say I agree with your post on an earlier thread about the huge focus on Race immediately after Obama was announced as the winner. We were mostly watching CBS but on BBC that's all they were talking about -- even today. I thought it was very strange.
  • stupidgit · 1 year ago
Actually, I'd prefer Obama leaves the First Amendment alone. Our Constitution is already in tatters and instead of wishing for censorship, we should be wishing for education and enlightenment.
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
I was hoping after last night that Rush's head would have exploded and we would be free from that gas bag.

I saw no mention of his cranial explosion in the news this AM........

I am all for free speech but that pathetic example of a human incites hate. And that is just not right.
  • slappymagoo · 1 year ago
nah, leave Rush no the air. The more Obama's able to accomplish IN THE FACE of such hate speech, the more the hate speech becomes irrelevant.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
He gave him about 5 chances to rephrase what he said.
    That is some sorry shit.
  • Miket298 · 1 year ago
Well theres a first time for everything I suppose
  • Traumatic · 1 year ago
Wow. Did you just hear that noise? That was the last little bit of respect I had for Nader flying out the window. What a schmuck!!
  • Charles2 · 1 year ago
You actually had some residue of respect for Nader left? What, was it stuck under your fingernail or something?

    Ew...
  • AtlantaKaren · 1 year ago
Ralph, what the heck is wrong with you? Why not do some useful work like you used to do. Your remarks are graceless, offensive, and vulgar. No one is buying what you are selling. Go away, please.
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
    Go fuck yourself Nader.
You deserved to be pimp slapped by Shep... oh my god, you got PIMP SLAPPED by Shep!
    You fucking dipshit.
Go crawl back under your rock.

Shepard Smith grows a pair. Well!
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Ralph Nader is such an has been. He is irrelevant and shouldn't be pointing fingers considering whom his money supporters were the last election. The republicans were giving him money and he wants to play this game with Obama about corporations? Obama stayed away from PAC money and was supported by the average citizens. What's Nader trying to say? He was looking for a good "sound-bite" and this one is one of highly charged racism. He should be ashamed of himself, because he know better. What a jerk. He also showed what type of a jerk he was when pushed a little with a pointed question aimed at himself. He can throw the barbs but can't really take them. Sad man.
  • okojo · 1 year ago
Ralph Nader is one of the biggest hypocrites out there. He owns a multi million dollar house in Washington, he has a multi million dollar stock portfolio, he uses his PIRGS as vassals... He had a conference in the late 1990s criticizing Microsoft, without admitting he has a very large number of stocks in Cisco, for example.

If he wants to be called a "consumer advocate" but in reality he is a registered lobbyist who lobbies for his own ego as his client base.

He should be ashamed of himself, not for the idiotic "Uncle Tom" comment, but for his action in 2000 that lead to having one of the worst presidents in US history steal the election.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
    Amen!
  • judybrowni · 1 year ago
And who helped create all those poor people, Ralph? You, who took your Uncle Tom money from the Republicans to help spoil two elections and give Bush, Cheney and Rove the "mandate" to bankrupt this country.

Stepin Fetchit Nader, who can't even get respect on Fox.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Couldn't have said it better, myself. We'd be WELL ON OUR WAY to green jobs, and health care for all if Nader hadn't handed the White House to Bu$hco. in 2000.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
he was just giving into his need to have 30 minutes of fame instead of the average 15.

don't be too hard on the poor deranged asshole.
  • Dave_Latchaw · 1 year ago
    Well put.
  • boloboffin · 1 year ago
Ralph Nader -- If you remember the Red State Update crew that was part of the YouTube Democratic debate (asking the candidates if all the attention on Gore was hurting their feelings), well, Ralph appeared on their YouTube Channel with them. He gave quite an eloquent discourse on the self-chosen topic of anal flutter.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYKyts6EdSw

Why is anyone even talking to this guy except for what Shep does to him here?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
FOX NEWS - desperate opportunists. Sorry, FOX, you're getting boycotted along with the Mormon Church and Utah.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
Argggghhhh...I hope Nader wasn't trolling for a position in Obama's administration. He just screwed the pooch.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
If Nader were relevant, someone might listen to him. As it is, he is an old has been unable to let go.
Find a cause, get a life, but leave politics alone, Nader.

    Pigs are flying?
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I don't watch Fox but i have watched Shep Smith during "Shock and awe" and during Katrina. I think the "left" could get him to their side in a heart beat.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    goodbye ralph.

Faux is outraged by the uncle tom comment...

not that ralph USED it, per se... but that Faux always wanted to, and everyone else is ignoring nader... so they're outraged at nader getting away with something they always wanted to do.
  • okojo · 1 year ago
Fox shouldn't have the idiot on, he just wants attention. However to use "Uncle Tom" as an option for Barack Obama shows the guy is out to lunch and doesn't get it... Rush Limbaugh has said some pretty racist and awful things about Barack Obama, and Ralph Nader should know better.

Nader comes across as a bitter and mean old man.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
If Shep Smith and Bill Hemmer would both just come out of the closet they would turn FOX News upside down.

Of course the same could be said of Anderson Cooper and 98% of Vatican City.
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
    LMAO and true!
  • porchcow · 1 year ago
Ah, I see a new political show in the works. "Irrelevant Air." Ralph Nader and Joe the Plumber debate the issues.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    nader's 'macaca' moment.
  • cole3244 · 1 year ago
i refuse to give fox credit for anything, especially when it seems to get enlightened as soon as the wind shifts in america, crawl back into your hole fox noise i will support the media that were there when it wasn't popular to be there but america needed them none the less. boycott fox and hurt their ratings and bottom line, there are other options that deserve viewing if for no other reason then its the right thing to do.
  • stupidgit · 1 year ago
Agreed! The best form of action is to live by example. If you don't like Fox then don't support them and encourage others to do the same. Support PBS, McClatchy, Democracy Now... ignore Fox, The New York Post, Drudge Report and all the other corporate and right-wig fluff.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
I need to go check the Hell thermometer....i bet it's starting to get chill down there.
  • paulbe · 1 year ago
Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber etc. You'd think the Repubs went out of their way to lose. Given the magnitude of the disaster they've left behind it wouldn't surprise me if that was their intent. Wreck the nation then walk away. As for FOX? maybe they fear losing their access. I'd call it sucking up.
  • Jim Olson · 1 year ago
I am speechless. What an arrogant, cluless, elitist, racist, irrelevant old bastard. Nader should never, never be on TV again.
  • noni · 1 year ago
Sickening for watch Shep getting all righteous. I liked Nader for calling Shep a bully. Shep's mouth dropped. Shep is a Republican Tool to the core. He has no shame.
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
    Same for Nader.
    Pot, meet kettle, kettle, pot.

makes me kinda glad they can't get married in California.

that'd give marriage a bad name.

Hasn't this guy defended Obama before? I remember seeing at least a couple of videos before this one.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Yeah, he defended Obama to the idiots who host the Fox News morning show.
  • slappymagoo · 1 year ago
Is that Shepherd Smith? I always call him Not-Chris MadDonald, because he looks like the character actor, but isn't.

Maybe Shep/Not-Chris should have pointed out to Ralph the racist connotation behind the phrase Uncle Tom. I mean, anyone with a brain in his or her head should know you don't talk about black people and use that term any more than you'd use the phrase "tar baby," but either Ralph was being disengenuous, or he REALLY didn't understand hwo much he sounded like a racist. Maybe if someone condescendingly said "You know, RALPH, African-Americans find the term Uncle Tom highly offensive. It's a throwback term to the days of slavery, it's NEVER a complementary term. Wasn't there ANY other way you could've made your point about you worrynig about Obama selling out America's poor without using a term that made you look out-of-touch at best, racist at worst?
  • blu4u · 1 year ago
Ralph Nader is an "old-has-been" - and as for Fox ... i will refuse to watch any of their useless one-sided news shows ... terrible - insulting - rude - outdated and downright stupid .... Obama got my vote not cause he is black but because he has respect and integrity - the world wanted Obama and the usa (especially our precious youth) gave the world a leader the usa can be proud of ....
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Actually, Shepard Smith recently defended Obama when the Fox News morning idiots were ripping him too.

I think he and Wallace are the exceptions at Fox, in that they're both Wingnuts who at least pretend to be objective. The others don't even try to fake it.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I have not agreed with all that Obama has stated nor do I think I will in the future either, but to go off and use such sensitive racist language as Ralph has done is simply disgusting. Especially on the "day after" such a huge event as we witnessed yesterday.

I'm sorry, I know that some may admire this man Nader, but I have found him to be a deeply depressed and terribly off track man who was once relevant yet now is merely continually seeking to advance his fan base.

Once I almost voted for this man, today I am disgusted by him...
  • SeattleTom · 1 year ago
Sigh...what happened to you Ralph? You've gotten so damn grumpy in your old age. Where's the Nader from 2000? This is twice that you've race baited Obama.
  • Milli · 1 year ago
    He's been hanging around McCain?
  • dudervision · 1 year ago
First, Ralph Nader is no longer relevant. He believes he's running for the unrepresented, but really is running for himself. It's sad.

On the other hand, I wish that Shepherd Smith would get a job at CNN or MSNBC. I've heard him speak out before and he's too good a reporter for Fixed News.
  • Mum48 · 1 year ago
Nader did some great things for consumer protection 30-40 years ago. I think he should shut up now, retire to a little cabin in the woods, do some occupational therapy, maybe get himself a pet hamster. I'm really getting tired of his schtick, and I don't think that I'm the only one.
  • LeftCoastOracle · 1 year ago
This is appalling. Ralph Nader is a pig. Perhaps those who voted for him this year will have learned a lesson from this.
  • dula · 1 year ago
Ralph's insensitive comment detracted from a very valid argument. We do need to hold Obama's feet to the fire along with the dem Congress. Remember Obama voted for the FISA Bill, the Bailout Bill, and to fund faith-based initiatives...we do need to be vigilant, he has a tendency to slide to centre-right, especiall since Nancy Pelosi just suggested he "govern from the center".
