AMERICAblog: When globalization works

That's why some US manufacturers are pushing for Global Warming legislation too.

But Peter Fusaro, a carbon markets expert, pointed out that the change may have been spurred by requirements in countries that have ratified the Kyoto protocol, an anti-global warming treaty.

"Multinational companies are under the gun to comply with Kyoto," he said. "It's starting to crystallize that companies can't have dual environmental standards."

I've been thinking about that whole "baby momma" remark by FOX news. I don't think FOX NEWS wants to play the "baby momma" game when you consider Obama only has ONE "baby momma." How many "baby mommas" does McCain have? I know he has at least TWO baby mommas. I think one of McCain's baby mommas is named Carol and the other one is Cindy? Any more McCain baby mommas out there?

If FOX NEWS thinks they are going to be too cute by half, and not respect Obama's "traditional marriage" then lets just level the playing field. Let's pretend neither Obama and McCain are married and count ALL the "baby mommas" they have.

    Obama has ONE baby momma

McCain has AT LEAST two that we know of...

Any response from FOX about these FACTS?

Globalization has some good points as outlined in this article, but one other that is being overlooked is that as the US dollar contiunes to lose its value, foreign manufacturers are looking to build facilities here in the states. So in one sense a weak dollar is helping to some degree in creating jobs that have been lost to Asia. Volvo and Honda are buliding new plants in the US and now Airbus is looking to locate here as well. It will take time, but there are some meaningful benefits that globalization can provide when it comes to energizing the jobs market here at home.

Global trade is great but "globalists" are taking over our politics and our sovereignty, theres a strong force trying to turn the usa into a north american union, and you have wars being fought because of UN resolutions

"unsafe products help you unite with family members that have passed away. Who wouldn't want to be apart from their loved ones?"-American lobbyists

the U.S., already a dumping ground for unsafe chemicals and myriad other products, will become even moreso.

the U.S. is becoming the same type of banana republic to be exploited by multinational companies as the U.S., itself, has been exploiting for a century.

excellent post. NAFTA penalizes workers who demand a safe workplace and fair compensation. Both Dem candidates said they would re-negotiate it. companies operating in mexico will have to comply or lose their free trade status. easy. globalization works when it's fair.

You should all read "The Body Toxic" (available on Amazon). Nena Baker writes all about this. Fascinating. Upsetting. But also indispensable.

Globalization hasn't helped the US chemical industry. The US used to be a net exporter, now it is a net importer. Many US companies have been gobbled up by European companies and they sell to US markets. So in many respects, the US chemical industry is Euoropean. Meanwhile, US chemists are facing the same bleak job market prospects found in other manufacturing industries as more and more functions are outsourced, as petrochemicals move to Asia (including the Middle East), and as companies continue to cut costs and reorganize. One of the reasons is the relaxed regulations and low wages and poor benefits in Asia - especially China, Korea, and India - where many workers die under very poor conditions and I don't even need to mention the environmental issues there.
