AMERICAblog: When John Met Sarah

  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Lipsmacking Johnny appears to judge hossflesh like a real player...Of course, tradition does dictate blaming the woman for her provacative rest home nurse allure.

FYI--Excellent TPM summary of Palin's troopergate:

It looked like McCain was about to slip his wedding ring off while he was checking her out, and while Cindy was just a few feet away. I think Cindy better keep a very close eye on those two!
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Looked like Cindy's keeping a cougar eye on Todd...
Instead of Bob and Carol Ted and Alice, its John and Cindy Todd and Sarah.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Bill O'Reilly's body language expert would say that playing with his ring was symbolic of his wavering commitment to Cindy.
  • gumbygirl · 1 year ago
Freud would have loved this creep!
  • Bubbles · 1 year ago
Take it for what it's worth, but I once read an article on "body language". When someone plays with their wedding ring, its a subconscious sign that they are 'attracted' but are trying to remind themselves of their prior marital commitment.

I'm incline to agree with this assessment. McCain is McCreepy.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
I have to believe that Palin will withdraw her nomination within a few weeks. The excuse won't be "time with the family" but rather "it was just a joke."
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
TWO WITHDRAWALS WOULD BE MORE APPROPRIATE: A new Republican ticket of Cheney/Lieberman would be the greatest!
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
That creepy old man makes my skin crawl.

The Soul Mate is also bootylicious!
  • mr723 · 1 year ago
Apparently Dick Cheney is the presidential candidate now... Great slip-up by the AP.

  • flashcard · 1 year ago
OMG! He was checking her out.....too funny!
  • mr723 · 1 year ago
Funny. They seemed to have changed it now. For at least 20 minutes, the story said "Dick Cheney" instead of "John McCain" in the second paragraph.
  • Gorgonzola · 1 year ago
When McCain got close to Obama in the polls it was all over the national media. Now, Gallup shows Obama by 8 points up your more likely to see Dave Garroway on TV than poll numbers.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
MSM wants us to believe the race is close. It's good for the numbers.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Funny line! Though we do see many pundits aping J. Fred Muggs and Kokomo, J. Fred's replacement, today.
Wiki's described "J. Fred Muggs Awards for Distinguished Foolishness" deserve a retro reprise, tho...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Fred_Muggs
  • Rufus · 1 year ago
Dave Garroway committed suicide. Ironically exactly at 9AM when his TV program always started.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Now that it appears the convention will be about 15 minutes long tomorrow and then scrub the next three days, the RNC wants to turn Gustav into a fund-raising event instead. Nice, but transparent. McCain is trying to figure how to get a bounce out of Gustav. Kind of sick.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
    REMEMBER "WE ARE ALL GEORGIANS"

McPander is my name and the latest tragedy is my game. This man is as pathetic a candidate as we've ever seen even after the Bush/Cheney disaters of the past 8 dark years.

    WANT MORE PAIN????????JUST VOTE McCAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • grandma · 1 year ago
Someone else said it here the other day.

Cindy best be praying she (Cindy) is not in an accident.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
I understand she just got back from Georgia...

She's probably headed to Afghanistan next, followed by Iran?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    THIS JUST IN!

Republican Talking Points all say to EMPHASIS "Natural" in "Natural Disaster" in describing Hurricane Gustav. Why do they have to do this? Answer: Because they are having to back track on all the times they have made Hurricanes out to be the WRATH OF GOD. They have to now emphasize God is NOT involved in this one because it interferes with their plans!
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
We don't want the Fundies thinking this is god's wrath on them for the lies, corruption, and deaths attributable to the Republican party.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
    TROPHY WOMAN # 3------
Of course McCain is getting to like Sarah. She is his exact type. Another Beauty Queen Trophy Gal for his many homes. My only concern is for the whereabouts of Trophy Gal # 2 who has disappeared. WHERE IS VICKI ISEMAN? Why has she gone missing? Who is looking for her? Another of tthe hidden McCain factors along with the military and medical records.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Instead of speaking at the convention, Cheney's decided to lurk among Gulf front wharves, docks and properties to sup on the regional despair and hunt Halliburton contracts.
Or, did I mean to say McCain???
  • grandma · 1 year ago
All those evangelicals that thought Katrina was God's vengence on New Orleans.........where are they now...
surely Gustav must be God's vengence on the GOP (convention). *snark*
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Surely Minneapolis-St. Paul's first hurricane damage in history...Another McCain first!!!

THE TAIL ( TRAIL ) OF THE MISSING LOBBYIST

Where has Vicki Iseman gone? Has a missing persons report been filed? Why is the press not following her tail ( trail )? Just another McCain mystery not followed by our main stream media. What & who are they covering for? McCain has become McJoke and the joke will not be on us on Nov.4th.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Ahh, the new Republican party, the gift that just keeps on giving......
  • Patriot · 1 year ago
OMFG. I actually laughed out loud when I watched this. This is unbelievably hillarious. Apparently McCain has yet to realize that he is always on camera from lots of different angles. How stupid do you have to be?
  • MGBYG · 1 year ago
    This is even funnier...

  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
I would suggest we not get too arrogant. What it reminds me of is Clinton's behavior in 1992. I was revolted by his always scanning the audience for babes. It was all over his face. Sigh! I suppose that this is the price we as Democrats must pay for having nominated and elected a character like Clinton. Of course, must also point out that the offenses for which the Republicans impeached Clinton were shames, they had nothing to do with his unsuitability to lead this nation, his real unsuitability was that he was a neocon and instituted much of the right wing agenda that prepared the way for the big, big criminal, Bush who crapped all over the Constitution, Bill of Rights and laws of this nation. Clinton was a peanut compared to Bush, no not even that a peanut crumb.
  • dad · 1 year ago
cindy must avoid getting into a serious car accident.

john seems to really approve of sarah's credentials.
and she is yet to be fully vetted.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
Maybe McAdultry wants to vet her privately.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Sounds like Johnny got off a quickie vet at the first meeting...

Really though...To so objectify a person in a role the Bush years elevated to co-equal says some unsettling things about Mr. McCain.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
she is yet to be fully vetted.

How do you know? Considering this choice, I'm astounded McCain didn't nominate Vicky Iseman.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
One of the comments on Frank Rich's piece today in the NY Times:

We are in a war in Iraq, Islamic fundamentalists are determined to destroy us, Iran is rushing to build a nuclear weapon, Russia is once again becoming a tyrannical regime threatening it's neighbors, our economy is tanking, and John McCain, a seventy two year old man who has had four cancer operations choses as his running mate and the person who will be a heartbeat away from the Presidency a woman with zero experience in foreign relations and who was elected governor of Alaska by winning the votes of 130,000 people, about fifty thousand more than attended Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco field, a football field. The American people should be horrified and deeply frightened.

  • Jim Olson · 1 year ago
    Well said.

Sadly, both of my very conservative friends think that Palin was a good choice, and continue to bring up Obama's connection to Wright, and to Rezko.

No, he doesn't remember things like Czechoslovakia doesn't exist, that certain borders of certain countries don't touch each other and that the cameras are always running:

    Kos had this earlier:

    Date: February 11, 1997
    Publication: Anchorage Daily News (AK)

A recall of Mayor Sarah Palin is off the table, at least for now, according to a group calling itself Concerned Citizens for Wasilla. The group of about 60 residents was formed Friday in response to Palin's controversial firing of Police Chief Irl Stambaugh. Members say they're concerned about the direction taken by Palin since her election last fall, and discussed a recall. But members of the group decided instead they first want to hear Palin's explanations .

I just don't think I can stand four years of Johnny and Cindy's matching turkey necks.
  • BarrieT · 1 year ago
Maybe Johnny hopes Palin will add the gobble.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
once palin is in office... cindy will be spending a lot of time in Afghanistan.

so... that takes care of one of the the turkey necks.

something tells me, even with Viagra, mcsame will be forced to use those presidental cigars ala big Bill.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
I think Cindy is already lookin' for her next ex-husband with Palin on the
campaign trail. I think Ms thang needs to write a post today...
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
This choice is so bizarre I still can't beleive they did this. I am so glad I can come to Americablog to find other SANE (with few exceptions) people.

That said....as I watch this video I keep hearing the voice of Joey Tribiani from Friends saying "How YOU doin'?"
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
nah... think more Marvin Gaye "Let's Get It On"

    thanks to MGBYG below, hilarious!
  • MGBYG · 1 year ago
Aww, shucks... My first post here, too!

(my 15 year old son found the video, in full disclosure.)

My favourite line is "Uh oh, camera caught me" as the image pans and zooms in on Palin speaking...

    MST3000 overtones, too.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Palin's mother in law has an interesting view on her qualifications:

Faye Palin said the entire family was shocked by the news on Friday.

"I'm not sure what she brings to the ticket other than she's a woman and a conservative. Well, she's a better speaker than McCain," Faye Palin said with a laugh.

Yep, every female's nightmare....dodging the old, creepy, touchy-feely uncle (grandfather, father-in-law, minister...).
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
well... she does have several guns, and she knows how to use them.

    can a VP pardon themselves?
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
After she uses the gun, she will be president, so your question missed the mark. I should have been "Can a president pardon herself?" <g>

But isn't the president immune to criminal prosecution while in office?
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
the VP has to be sworn in before they're President.

    therefore, my question stands :b
  • BarrieT · 1 year ago
He's just checking out her notes. Well, her bullet points.
  • Rufus · 1 year ago
Is Vicki Iseman dead? Is anyone searching for her body? Perhaps murder most foul, or maybe living in a small apartment in Yuma, Arizona. Wouldn't her family
want to know so they can have closure?
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Brings a whole new meaning to "serves at the pleasure of the President" now doesn't it????
  • munjoyfan · 1 year ago
I'm telling you, the way to defeat McCain is to turn women against him:
    1. treatment of his first wife
    2. votes re treatment of wounded vets and support for vet families
    3. Vicky
    4. Cindy, anything about Cindy, esp her brushes with law
    5. social security positions
    6. positions on health care

This has a tasty link to a vicious and delicious rumor about Palin's daughter and the new baby.......
  • Cjeffery · 1 year ago
Anyone every noticed her older daughter is always the run taking care of the baby. And that two months ago when she was at the governed meeting she does not look the least bit pregnant but at that point would be almost 9 months along. I'm just wondering if this has been looked into not that we would every be able to proof it beyond a doubt but looking at everything I thing there is something going on there.
