AMERICAblog: Where's the economy at the GOP convention? Or do the Republicans just think Americans are too stupid to notice they ignoring it at the convention?

I thought Robert Novak had retired? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/ar...
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Novak was hoping his announcement he retired would make all his problems go away. He is counting on most Americans having the memory of gnats.
  • gwpriester · 1 year ago
Looking around the hall they also seem to be ignoring people of color. Just a lot of over fed, undereducated white boys.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Word is there are only THREE black delegates they paid to be delegates at the convention. Poor things, the other delegates keep asking them to go to the kitchen and bring them more champagne and food.
  • Milli · 1 year ago
Poor Karl. He's losing his touch.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
there isn't a single person at the convention who gives a shit about whether the middle class and poor have (as Chimpy says) Food on their family. These asswipes are the haves and the have more's. More importantly why would they mention one of their many disasters. Let the people eat cake, the cake left on the tarmac when Chimpy gave it to McCriminal before Katrina.

    Headline on CNN:

White, rich, union busting motherfuckers arrive to receive bags of cash from their lobbyist buddies and laugh at the poor bastards in New Orleans losing their homes again.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    you said it, lynchie.

they've got theirs...the rest of us are just a bunch of whiners...

    This year's GOP Convention Themes:
Brave POW and war hero; fetuses; gays getting married; Obama killing BORN fetuses; gay sex; mooseburgers made from mooses shot by Freedom's guns; Eye-rack as God's will; Eye-ran as God's will; Jew victims of terrorism as God's will; special needs fetuses; all good American families have horny teens.

anybody that calls themselves a republican and doesn't make at least 2 million a year is an idiot.

yes, there are alot of them.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
AMEN to that, but remember all they have to do with those people is say, "Them Democrats are gonna get your guns and make your son marry his best buddy!" and they will commandeer the church buses tot he polls.
  • Lolis · 1 year ago
Yep, Democrats are going to win this election on the economy.
  • lauren1959 · 1 year ago
Why worry about things like the economy and issues when god is on your side? This would all be very funny if it wasn't so terribly scary...
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
For anyone worrying about those fragile, elderly GOP backs hoisting bags of special interest cash, remember the new 45ยข Bush dollar weighs a lot less ensuring booty bags lighter than HW's, Raygun's, Ford's or, and especially, Nixon's.
An iced Ensure and a lightweight bag of ill-gotton booty...What more could an aged, calcium-deprived fascist desire?

"The Republicans are gambling that John McCain's inspiring biography will overcome the overwhelming--80%--feeling that the country has been moving in the wrong direction."

that's a helluva gamble. his biography ain't that inspiring and he's got nothing on substance. Same goes for Palin.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Someone commenting on the Dan Balz WP vetting story called Palin, Caribou Barbie...Too funny. I want the Caribou Barbie snowmobile, Dream Cabin and her little bitty plastic windbreaker.

    Observe:

Not ONE good thing is being said about Barack Obama at this convention. In fact, there are very NASTY things being said over and over again. This is the Republican National Convention.

Compare that to last week when Biden prefaces every remark about John McSame with, "He is a personal friend of mine, and..." and other speakers "John McCain is an honorable man, and..."

Those phrases could so easily been DROPPED. They can STILL believe those things without saying them. Watch the Republicans. They say NOTHING - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING good about Barack Obama.

I hope the American people are wise enough to it, but Democrats need a real good dose of MEAN!
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
I understand your feelings but I really think Mr. Obama has the best approach...I've found killing with kindness burns this crowd with more ferocity. Of course, all of us ordinary citizen liberal blog denizens are still free to express our opinions as we wish.
Last evening's attempts to damage Mr. Obama were not only mean-spirited but also non reality-based...
For example, Freddie's snarly intimation that Mr. Obama lurks in greenrooms is laughable considering Johnny's penchant for teevee chat...I've often wondered if the McCain skin cancers were more directly linked to pancake make-up rather than sunshine.

I'm watching "Joe in the Morning" right now and observing why Democrats lose elections. The Democratic strategists are refusing to SHOUT OVER the Republicans like they do Democrats at every opportunity. Democratic Strategists better start learning to GET TOUGH and how to steer debates, and SHOUT BACK AND SHOUT THEM DOWN when they try to interrupt and fillibuster.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
I watched some of that as well this morning...My only thought: Nitrous oxide.
Nooz distilled from my viewing: Mikka's Jewish and Timmah's kid has been elevated, according to Bill Geist's kid, to NBC stardom.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I'm looking around the "coffee shop" where the Republicans are gathering for "Joe in the Morning" on MSNBC and the Republicans in the background sure look stereotypical. They all look like over fed white people who have indigestion!
  • brian · 1 year ago
They cannot run on the economy or anything else. They can only run on fear, gays, god and abortion. Notice the last three are private matters. While they don't want to help anyone, because they are selfish, they want to invade your bedroom and countries around the world that do not agree with Dubya.

They are the TALIBANGELICALS! They are always wanting to inject religion into our laws and constitution. Our Founding Fathers DID NOT want this, much to their chagrine. They are willing to rewrite history to try to prove they did, but they didn't. Our Founding Fathers would have many of the TALIBANGELICALS jailed for treason in trying to rewrite our constitution to get their definition of God placed in there, and force people to live under their hypocritical rule. Most Talibangelicals are very strict regarding controlling other people, but can NEVER live up to their own strict interpretations and rules. Ask Bristol Palin, I'm sure she can tell ya LOTS about Mama and her abstinence education. Ask Larry Craig or David Vitter's wives, they will tell ya about the joys of "one man - one woman" marriage or Carol McCain. Carol McCain will tell you about how McCains STRICTLY follows the guidelines of "one man-one woman" marriage WHEN its convenient. I've come to the conclusion Republicans think if they write strict enough laws they will stop doing what bothers them most about THEMSELVES!

Yes. And I don't feel assured that they (we) ARE smart enough to notice. The unfortunate thing about the bruhaha over "Caribou Barbie" (whoever came up with that, f***ing genius!) is that it obscures the real issue of the economy; it's not about her foreign policy experience or her Commander-in-Chiefdom or her knocked-up teen daughter. And it's because we're attacking her (and McCain's despicable way of going with his gut - yeah, that's just what we need in a president), they can make Obama The Key Issue, and the economy goes to the back of the Republican short bus.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
WOW - that Ron Paul thing seems to be REALLY taking off! He is appealing to a LOT of Republicans. I love the fact Republicans have a choice between SEVERAL candidates this year! GO RON PAUL and SPLIT their ticket!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
HAHAHAHAhahahhaa! Still watching "Joe in the Morning" and they are talking about Republicans and their celebrities. Get this... the big celebrity is that SNARKY NAZI from "The View" - Elizabeth Hasselbeck. That IS their BIG celebrity? bwah hahaaa!
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
According to the pundits the Republicans are running the canditdates, not the issues. It is tough guy McCain with his military experience to keep us safe and the hockey mom to make us feel good. Ir just might work. Look at the last two elections, the women of this country, the soccer moms, elected George Bush.

    Yes.
  • Joneses · 1 year ago
Yes, they consider that most Americans are plain stupid.

And don't forget that teen pregnancy is o.k. too.
