The government subsidizes Blacks. Just as teachers often support socialized education, it isn't too much a surprise that many Blacks support continued policy which disproportionately benefits them. I'm not saying it's necessarily wrong, or that all Blacks feel that way (I certainly don't), but there just isn't as much hardship for Whites when it comes to taxation, and most people don't want to say it because it's so unpopular to challenge reverse racism. I say this as a Black man who seeks to become a teacher :)

As a future teacher, you need to do your homework. Black people receive less money from the government by all accounts. That is why the education system is so disproportionately subpar in the black community as compared to their white counterparts. Because the education system is so poor in the black communities, black children are disadvantaged when it comes to going to College and, consequently, are less likely to get the same jobs as their white counterparts. The cycle repeats itself because, without an education, it is less likely that one will move upward and out of the poor community or even to make enough money to help the community they live in. A black child coming out of the ghetto to attend Harvard is the exception and not the rule. Explain to me why that is. Social Security benefits, healthcare, etc are substandard in the black community also. I don't think I need to explain that. Black people are dying in emergency rooms because of lack of insurance. If they are taken care of in the ER, they will end up with a bill that they will not be able to pay - which will land them in more poverty. The chances that you will get the same benefits as a teacher with a Bachelor making $50,000 a year compared to a teacher with a PhD making $100,000 a year is nil. Why? Because your SS benefits are based on how much money you make and therefore contribute to SS. That's not even taking into account your retirement. If you're smart, the more money you make, the more you should contribute to your retirement. I can tell you this much: nowadays, very few people making $50,000 a year in the US are able to contribute enough to their retirement. Good luck with your studies.

Because this isn't really about taxes and spending (or they would have been protesting the last 8 years). It's about Obama. They don't think he's a "real" American. They think he's a terrorist. They think he's a terrorist appeaser. They think he's a socialist. They are scared of him. That's what this is about!
My guess is that a good majority of them pay barely any taxes (because working class people hardly do) and that they pay much less under Obama than anyone else.
and, I bet they have no problem using social security, disability, worker's comp, unemployment, and all those other "socialist" programs!

Butchc, I agree with you but you left something out. In addition to all the epithets that you use for the reasons why they had these parties, you left out the fact that the President is Black (or rather not totally white, not white enough to their liking). In fact, if you look at all the signs, the majority of them was about Obama. Some of them complained about taxes but what taxes, those people don't pay taxes. They are worried about the future of their children? Then, they need to get to work because, if Bush didn't get them out of the trailers, certainly, nothing President Obama's going to do is going to be enough to get them out. Well, working class people do pay taxes, especially those making six figures. However, in my opinion, the "Tea-party animals" look like they were in the lower uneducated class (in the likes of Joe the not-a-true plumber) because some of them could not even express why they were there.

Very good question John. My gal and I just came back from a tea nut party in Jackson, Michigan, birthplace of the republic party. It was held in a predominately black neighborhood and the only blacks were those minding their own business. Moderately racist crowd at the party. Oh, and pirates too.

Great question, John! I would say it is probably because most of the far right fringe in this country consists of mostly lower income white folks. You know, the kind who always seem to vote against their own self interests. No unions in the south because, by God, WalMart's wages and benefits are far better than anything we could negotiate.
