AMERICAblog: Why can't McCain work for $1 now? Why does he still accept Social Security and disability money?

  • jescot · 1 year ago
That wasnt the only place Ol Bob didn't follow up. When the discussed community organizing and McCain said he finds Obama's record to be noble etc ..Bob should have asked him why then did he let a night go by where many of the speakers including his own VP used it as a point of ridicule.
As Obama said today "what happens in your campaign is a forshadowing of how you will govern.....'

Schieffer just grins his old, "I love you" grin and moves on to the next softball. I can't stand Schieffer.

I saw the interview this morning. It was pathetic.

Hey, McCain keeps trashing Jimmy Carter. Well, Jimmy Carter was a GOVERNOR from a southern state and was promising change because he was "outside Washington." The biggest criticism of Jimmy Carter from inside Washington was he couldn't get ANYTHING DONE because no one would work with him because he hadn't developed the proper relationships to work with Washington. Sound like anyone we know? How about Sarah Palin? A political neophyte unknown governor who is claiming to go shake things up in Washington! BWAHAHAAHAHAAAA!
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Funny thing is that Carter left office with a clean slate. To this day Carter is an honorable man. You can't say that about Papa Bush, Lil Bush and McCain with Keating 5.

Hey! What about our Communist current president. He nationalized Freddie and Fannie. That's state ownership of the means of production, the definition of big "C" Communism. I mean in little "c" communism the people share ownership, and socialism, the people own the means of production, but only in Big "C" Communism does the state own the means of production and control it for its and its friends benefit. That puts Bush in the company of Stalin, Lenin, Khruschev, and Mao. Comrade Bush. Has a real ring to it.

I really have to wonder with all the rantings of "the media" and its failings from likes of bob shchiiffer... (who cares how ones spells his name, he's traitor to this nation) who have failed to ask the right question time and time again, why there is not a more concerted effort to get these people to be shamed into asking the right kinds of questions??? I mean really, is there any chance he reads these quips on here, noting that he is failing in his journalistic job??? Is there any way to really start going after these stooges in a concerted way??? From a journalistic perspective, if you ask the questions, you control the conversation. We see the transgressions of media, its awful and traitorous. Can someone send this link to good 'ol bob????

You know ....It doesn't matter what we say here or how much we push back on the media. I will even go as far to say they are in the tank for nobody ...even Fox to make by point.
The media see a rating bonanza here and they will do their collective duty not to seek real truths BUT real controversy.
They want to keep this thing close and they will make sure the story lines of the day always make it so....
Yes there might be real differences between the campaigns as far as issues styles and change etc but the media and most Americans will only care about the narrative that is so simple and Dumb ...yes ...Dumb. The Media want people glued to the set. This is the reason why we might not win this election (even though we have a good shot.)
If this election comes down to depending on the American Idol voter we will get what we deserve. We will get have an electoral Sanjaya on our hands. BUt what if McCain and Susan do get elected? Hey, she is fun to watch and we could watch her show for four years! Ratings will be up for a while until in a few years when the media wakes up after a horrible international crisis and the hand wringing will begin like they did after the War in iraq went sour. The media will say to us and to themselves ..."we should have done a better job but we etc etc .......We are them and they are us.

I hope I am wrong and I am just a horrible cynic but lest face it if you have ever lived over seas for any long period of time you see how really naive and silly this country has become. The news is no longer news and people actually openly mock others for being smart and thoughtful.

This country has believe this one last chance to the escape bread and circus of the past decade and take control of the Republic before it becomes and Empire .

If we loose this one we will become the backwater country we once were before World War I. Yes we might still be militarily powerful but we will become a shadow of former greatness. We will risk becoming a classic movie or a TV re-run. The world is really itching for us to crank out new episodes an do what we have always done best ...be a country that might not always be smart but always tries to do the right thing...a country that cares about the rest of the world not just herself ...a country that makes choices out of wisdom not fear ...a country that examines itself and learns from its own mistakes,a country that cares about rules and laws and and inspires.

    ABOUT Palin.

    What is McCains disability?
After being freed by the Vietnamese
    he achieved flight status.

So what exactly is his disability?
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
I really don't think McCain is an idiot or he's disconnected. I've thought about this for a long time, and I hink he understands something about his adoring hard working middle class base that the rest of us don't.

Obama was wrong! John McCain gets it. He understands the simpletons that lap up his every word.

I'm just waiting for someone else on this site to say what it is he understands

Zogby has us down by 4 and McCain hitting 50. Ok thats it. This country is full of retards. Lincoln should have never had kept the Union together. Biggest mistake ever.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Zogby is always an outlier. And is frequently wrong. Besides, there's a reason they call it a bounce: it doesn't stay up in the air for long. Electoral college tallies are what matter.

  • jiminportlandoregon · 1 year ago
Although I agree with what you said, I still worry that we are being taken for a ride. By that I mean that if they claim that the polls are "really close" then when they cheat on election day, as they have for the past two presidential elections, McCAN'T and CARIBOU BARBIE will skate into the White House virtually unquestioned.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
I agree, and Obama is ahead with the present projections.
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
Will you all please calm down. The polls are lying to you, just as they lied to you about 911, they lied about the illegal occupation, they lied about the economy, they lied about the justice department, etc, etc, etc....., the conservative right wing mantra has been a complete lie. I'm quite damn certain they are willing to lie about this "horse race" via the "polls". Don't believe their numbers, if 80% of the country is dissatisfied with the direction of the country and 85,000 show up to an Obama rally, that's proof enough to me that it's gonna be a land slide. Your job, should you take this seriously, is to drag 100 of your best friends to the polls and get them to vote. That's how Obama wins!!!!
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I think you are the first person in the history of the world to call Zogby a conservative.

Sorry but when people vote for president its different. None of that matters. People vote for president entirely based on personality. Yes I know Barack has a good personality, but he is black. Most people in this country are bigoted, or at least the baby boomers are.
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
Ahhhhh ClintonHater, let me pull your head out of your ass...... Let me point out, there are conservative democrats as well, we call those punks blue-dogs, you have obviously placed you bets on the polls. Pollsters are mere puppets of the Oligarchy and the Oligarchy plays both sides of the fiddle, its how they stay in power. Remember polls are a distraction; polls are tools of propaganda. Do you even know the history of Polls??????? Or are you the last person in history here to read??

So let me point out, you are not the first person on here to continue to believe the bullshit of the oligarchy. That's not funny, its sad.

You're correct ClintonHater. There's a method to the madness.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
There are no conservatives, stop playin' with yourself in public. Pollsters are high-level operatives. Polls are always right on target. No such thing as a distraction. We all believe in the oligarchy--especially me.

The Meaning of a True Maverick
I am always amused when I hear "Maverick" used to describe Senator McCain and now Guvner Palin. For some, in this country, the term it conjurs up the romantic vision of a lone bull standing apart from the herd.
While there is debate about the origins of the term maverick, it is generally accepted by historians of the early ranching days that it came to be used to describe cattle that owners failed to brand. In fact, so-called maverick steers were plentiful in the days of the open range in Texas.
These cattle roamed the range in the thousands and many a young man with "a rope, nerve to use it, and a branding iron(1)" made his living rounding up these strays and branding them for themselves or their ranch employers. The practice was known as "mavericking"
So I reckon you could call John McCain a Maverick: An old steer that's in the Republican herd and wearing the George Bush brand

Why can't McCain work for $1 now? Why is he still accepting social security and a navy pension? : politics

Gramps McCain is a greedy sleaze ball.
  • Rufus · 1 year ago
Someone needs to check with the Navy. A disability rating of 100% (which I believe McCain has) means that one is so disabled that one cannot work. If McCain is working as a Senator, his rating should be reevaluated and his disability pay reduced to whatever new rating is assigned. As for ethics, McCain, as a retired officer, knows this and should have requested his rating be reevaluated when he took "any" job following his retirement. A little fraud?

McKept needs every penny he can get, 'cause he ain't gettin' none a Cindy's bucks. He gets to live in her houses and play in her garden, but prenups get him no cash. Besides, the income gives him some self esteem, showing that he has substance. Cash=ego. It's a guy thing.
