AMERICAblog: Why do I have to be the bad guy?

  • dacnova · 1 year ago
Chris, are you a newbie cat daddy? When my same-sex-husband dropped his two girls off for "fixing" 9 years ago, he scheduled it so he'd be out of town and I'd have to pick them up. The girls were INDIGNANT, but calmed down when I popped a Broadway cast album into my car's CD player (almost the only music they had ever heard back then).

Glad to hear Nasdaq is OK. Could you please do more Cat Blogging so we don't have to wait for pics when John is cat sitting? Your cats have a LOT of fans here. You should give them a Facebook Fan Page.

ps; in the last pic with you holding her, she CLEARLY wants to be set down. I've seen that face. Do you still have a face?

dacnova, that's a tricky face and angle. It could mean either contented or "I'm going to byte your face".
  • shanobama · 1 year ago
Which album was that.?...today I had my puppy neutered, we are all very down and smarting a bit here and could use some cheering up, hahah.

So Chris, I feel for you, too. No hissing here, but lots of indignation. At least you dont have to fool around with a cone to keep Nasdaq from licking too much.

    Get well soon, Nasdaq!

Poor baby! I know how terrible it feels to have your loved ones go through that trauma and how bad you must feel. Been there. Hope all is healed soon.

I've found that a mild(really mild) sedative before the trip to the vet is well worth it. My devi becomes the devil incarnate on the examination table. Speedy recovery wishes to Nasdaq.

    Hope Nasdaq bounces back quickly!!

Don't worry Chris. I had to take my baby to the vet last week after a nasty fight that landed him with stitches - there is this awful and mean huge black cat that comes around every so often and my cats are afraid of him but, will fight if he backs them in a corner.
On Friday I have to take my rescued golden Iggy to the vet for a lump on his side. he'll hate us for awhile too.
Cats. You try to help them and they get mad at you for it.
Fluff, my baby will be having his stitches out next week and will hate us all over again.

Nasdaq will heal ok. Thanks for the story. I love cats! I have two, Flash Gordon and Angel, and my daughter has Bell who is a mother with 4 male kittens.

    I feel real fuzzy inside.

The topic I want to cover in this post is big and complex, and I don't have much in the way of scientific data on it. Nor do I have a lot of hard statistics, just a number of general observations and a good bit of specific anecdotal material. Let me preface my discussion by quickly reasserting a familiar theme of my previous posts: Princess Nasdaq is in violation of the Geneva Conventions. So don't feed me any phony baloney about how the bogeyman is going to get us if we don't agree to her demands. That's just not true. I'm willing to accept that I consider Princess Nasdaq's contrivances antithetical to my principles as a person concerned for the good of all. I'm even willing to accept that I find her pranks flippant, cynical, ignominious, and more than a little snotty. But she sees herself as a postmodern equivalent of Marx's proletariat, revolutionizing the world by wresting it from its oppressors (viz., those who summon up the courage to present a clear picture of what is happening, what has happened, and what is likely to happen in the future). Anyway, that's it for this post. Let Princess Nasdaq read it and hiss.

She'll be pissy-hissy at you for a while, but all will eventually be well. Wouldn't YOU be pissed if you had to wear that nasty white girdle 'round your beautiful black-fur mid-section?

I feel mostly for your horrid experience with the heat, humidity and broken carrier in the trip across town.

Your Sushi could be the long-lost twin to our Astro, I swear. Same gorgeous body lines and gray/silver-sheen coat color. Astro knows he's so gorgeous that he languishes in neighbors' driveways every morning when he knows they're going to come out to get in their cars to go to work. The little stinker gets more loving from the neighbors than he's ever asked for from us. He refuses to drink still water from a bowl. Has to hop up on the kitchen counter and drink not just from the faucet, but the WATER FILTER!

Cats are amazing. Keep the pictures coming.

I think it all depends on the kitty. My cat fights like crazy when I try to get her in the carrier to go to the vet. Then, at the vet, she doesn't want to come out! My girlfriend and I have been trying to "introduce" my cat and her dog-- and my cat Kiwi absolutely hates it. For 18 months I commuted weekly from SF to LA, and she was pretty much alone from Monday morning to Friday evening for 1 1/2 years. Still -- in all these cases -- she has never held a grudge or gotten mad after the fact. It's all purrs when things get back to normal.

Clipping her claws, however, is another story . . .

Cats heal quickly. Though with a body bandage I would want to have an extra can of that fish on hand for when it's taken off - Ouch.

My small black cat had to have a cast on her front leg for five weeks, but did distinguish herself by attacking the x-ray techs even with a severely broken leg. When I was out of the room.

Oddly enough it looks like Nasdaq likes the attention even if it comes with some indignity.

The cats and the orchids here are a needed break and relief and the pictures are great - Thanks.

Chris, you're a good cat daddy.
