AMERICAblog: Would Hillary quit an anti-gay church? How about a pro-life church?

  • NovaNardis · 1 year ago
    John,

That's not a fair statement and you know it. Granted, I'm a biased Hillary supporter. But I'm also a pro-choice, gay man who identifies as Catholic. There's a difference between "God Damn America" and a Jesuit saying that he believes abortion is a sin.
  • kevinbgoode · 1 year ago
Well hell.. .we can't even really find out if Hillary actually ever goes to church beyond a public relations stunt. Besides, white candidates don't have to be vetted for every sermon their minister makes. . .they are individuals.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
Why doesn't sHillary the DINO answer the last time she went to church?

    Her silence speaks volumes.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
What if Clinton's priest/minister said she exit the race because she cannot win and/or because she is chronincally dishonest?
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
TOTAL lack of eye contact when she talks. Hillary's eyes reveal her lies.
Hillary used to go to the Foundry United Methodist Church in DC very frequently. I haven't noticed her going there lately but she's less conspicuous now that she doesn't have a motorcade a mile long taking her everywhere, Foundry United Methodist is a very liberal church, very welcoming of gay people, and they always have rainbow flags hanging around the church.

LOL! Finally a debate that isn't handed to Obama- and it sends the Aravosis-machine crying all the way home.

    SPIN! SPIN! SPIN!

Oh look another sad troll got through security...they're funny but they smell.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
How can Hillary stay in a marriage with a serial cheater for a husband. Did she agree with his cheating? Maybe she did and all of the rumors around DC are true about her and a certain someone.

I know a lot of Catholics that are pro-choice.
  • sittenpretty · 1 year ago
she is power crazed and will say ANYTHING scripted for her...winning at ANY cost, she and the media,do not know the difference anymore between truth and lies
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Also, why isn't it enough for someone running for President to say they are a person of faith, and then LEAVE IT AT THAT! My God this whole church shit is like an inquisition. The media is so desperate to find a "Dean Scream" that it won't stop with this crap. One thing I saw last night that made me want to puke is Chris Matthews pontificating about how Obama can't go into a diner and yuck it up with five rubes sittings there. Uhhhh, we've had eight years of a guy that can giggle and shizzle with the best of 'em and where has it got us? Why doesn't the media get it. Some in America are waking up and realizing they don't want JOE SIX PACK for President. In fact, I think some of those folks realize they made a very serious error when they pulled the lever for George W. Bush because he made them giggle.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Its also time for the media to announce the American voter has become deadly serious about this vote. The media had the luxury of expoiting "Dean Screams" and "who ya wanna have a beer with?" for years but their doing so led us down this path by leading the disengaged to vote the corporate media's way. Well, its come full circle. I'm finding some of those "good little Republican Nascar voters" can't fill their gas tanks and they are starting to get serious and angry. The media are reaping what they've sewn with an angry electorate that will heckle them if they try to start talking shit instead of BREAD AND BUTTER serious issues.
  • Mike_H · 1 year ago
cowboyneok, I completely agree, but I think we all fall into this trap (gotcha moments and Dean Screams and who do you want to have a beer with), maybe because there's been so much of it, or maybe because it's worked.

Take a look of the last few months of this blog and you'll see people ripping into Hillary for exactly the same kind of frivolity as Dean Screams. (Note that I'm not saying that every single criticism of Hillary is frivolous!)

But we so-called progressives do it too. Maybe it's human nature. Maybe it's the laziness of the average American, or maybe it's the enforced helplessness that so many feel... look at how few vote, or how many are ready to give up their vote.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    Yea, Mike_H:

Unfortunately, you are right. I'm hoping we can move beyond.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
"good little Republican Nascar voters" can't fill their gas tanks and they are starting to get serious and angry.

Oh come on! You know the Damnocrats are responsible for high gas prices. If they hadn't opposed the Iraq War and lost, oops, loosing that war for us, we would have all that Iraqi gasoline free and gas prices would still be 30 cents a gallon. The Damnocrats also caused the recession because they won't let Bush give more tax cuts to the rich allowing the money to trickle down to the masses. The Bush administration has been a failure because the Damnocrats have been determined from the start to make it a failure.

And the proof will be that McCain will win in 2009.
  • FNReedie · 1 year ago
So ... it's time to look at every statement made by her pastor. She obviously agrees with EVERYTHING he has said or else she would have moved on ...
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
I don't believe Hillary goes to church. So no need to worry if she agrees or disagrees with her pastor. Bet she couldn't even tell us her pastor's name.

If, and I pray it won't happen, but if Clinton should win the nomination and should get in the WH, how long do you think it would be before she kicked Bill out? She doesn't need him anymore and we all know he will continue with his woman chasing no matter where they live. He has been doing it all the time she has been in the Senate. Hillary will not let him shame her again.

  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    Speaking of Republican mismanagement:

"In 2001, Vice President Dick Cheney said, "Conservation may be a sign of personal virtue, but it cannot be the basis of a sound energy policy." Also that year, Ari Fleischer, then Mr. Bush's press secretary, responded to a question about reducing American energy consumption by saying "that's a big no."

"The president believes that it's an American way of life," Mr. Fleischer said.
    ========================

I had a family picnic and bonfire at the ranch the other night for Narcotics Anonymous. A woman who has about five years of recovery had told me how much her kids love horses and she couldn't wait to attend. Unfortunately, I received a note from her that said, she had really wanted to attend but didn't have enough gas and wasn't good about asking for help.

THANKS GEORGE W. BUSH... AND REPUBLICAN VOTERS! I read another disturbing article about how Mr. McGoo is winning over Republicans disenchanted with the FIGHTING going on between Obama and Clinton. Of course, I can't believe they would be so stupid as to vote for another Republican and four more years of the same, but when I really think about it they voted twice for Dubya, so they are capable of doing anything. Depressing.
  • vegasbaby · 1 year ago
this whole "your pastor said this" crap is ridiculous...who cares what someone said 10, 20, or 30 years ago that you may have an association with...

next up...."the candidate buys organic...shuns corporate produce...commie or health nut??...do we really need someone who buys organic in the white house.?"
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
do we really need someone who buys organic in the white house.?"

The one candidate who had my 100% support was the vegetarian. Yes, for the good of the nation we should have the vegetarian in the White House.
  • SteamingPile · 1 year ago
Well, to HRC, church is a means to an end. I'm sure she thoroughly vetted the pastor and each and every member of his staff before agreeing to join up. Of course she'd quit if she heard something off-key. The church really doesn't mean anything other than a way to show her fake-as-hell piety to the unwashed masses. One church is as good as another; she'd probably don a headscarf and join a mosque if she thought it would help her politically.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Can you imagine Hillary praying to God with that snide Evita smirk?
She attended the Papal Hercules movie this morning but didn't receive communion...While I doubt this ponhissytiff would approve, I do think, doctrinally, a non Catholic communicant is still permissible, or on the books.
So, I'm wondering...Why didn't Hillary go to communion this morning??? Sin or mebbe prefers her host with salsa? Mebbe Colbert could get her one with nacho flavor???
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
    Mike H ,
I think people are ripping into Hillary because she decided to become a Republican to win the Democratic nomination. There is already enough bashing aimed at Dems from the Repulicans we don't need Democrats to do their work for them. Hillary's argument is always that the Republicans will use these things against Obama, well let it be on them, she is not stopping their attacks on Obama she is helping and giving them talking points.

    "Smarmy:

    Hillary is America's resident ..."

    Sorry Smarmy:

DELETED. If anyone calls someone a Nazi, then they better have the facts to back it up. Many of us are angry at Hillary for many things, but N*** is WAY, WAY OVER THE LINE. Remember, she might be a liar over the Bosnia Sniper Fire, and some might want to strangle her over her scorched earth policy but Hillary is NOT a Nazi. That is just 'crap talk' and we all know it.

    Interesting point.

She certainly is making the argument that she's better able to compete against McCain because she's more like him.
  • NovaNardis · 1 year ago
This enitre chain of argument is bullshit anyway. Obama went on national television and said he never knew Jeremiah Wright used this kind of rhetoric. That's patently untrue. When he kicked off his 2004 bid for the Senate, he kept Wright at arm's length.

But look at what that claim says. I was a member of this church for *20 years*, but I never knew my pastor had a flare for the dramatic? I'm a twice a year Catholic if that, but I know what my pastor says--because he's my pastor, and it's important. Either Obama is a liar or he's criminally stupid.

Why do we have reason to doubt Hillary when she said she never doubted Bill's love for her? Do you know Senator Clinton personally? Who are you to comment on what she fundementally believes in her heart--about love of all things!

I might not agree with Hillary's decision to stay with Bill, but that's not my choice, it was hers. And if that's the rationale she's giving, I won't be so presumptuous about what she carries with her in her heart.

Sadly, we are supposed to be a nation of separation of Church and State. I think maybe the US originated that and other nations like Turkey have thought so highly of it that they have adopted that ... while we seem to have abandoned that principle. Oh yes, no doubt, Hillary is a hypocrite and I seriously doubt she is religious despite her lies about it. One, she shouldn't have to lie about it. It shouldn't matter that she doesn't attend church except for weddings and funerals. Hey, I'm a Christian, but if a Buddhist or ... [gasp!] even a Muslim should run for president, it should be a less than zero issue. In fact, given Bush, look what allowing religion to enter into our politics has given us. Is there any fool out there who believes that Bush is really a believer? [Sigh!]

These issues, gay marriage, abortion, etc. have no place in politics. It is clearly a Republican and conservative corruption of our politics to break the separation of Church and State. I’m sure the people of Turkey are laughing at us and feeling very superior. But Bush and his cohort would argue, of course, you need to separate religion and state in Turkey given that the religion is Islam. Another words, the principle isn’t absolute, but relative. Ha ha! Ho ho! I’m sure the Vatican asso agrees. [g]

Then again, perhaps that is why Hillary doesn’t attend church, doesn’t know the name of her pastor, hasn’t attended service since the last wedding/funeral she attended is that she is such a fervent supporter of the great American principle of Separation of Church and State.

Sigh! Shame, shame, shame on me! [g]

Firstly, and I know this will reveal my age, am I the last thinking person alive who still believes that a person's religious convictions and dealings are their own business? Has the American public been so dumbed down that they accept the words of a shill for a Fauxnews robot without question?

Secondly, in regard to the Rev. Mr. Wright, when those clips first surfaced and were being broadcast, I listened to the words the man was saying, not just the fiery conclusions, and you know what people, I found that I could agree with them; given the context, and having lived through the racial unrest of the 60's and all the times since with administrations waxing hot and cold for such rights, I could well understand the origins of these trains of thought. The universe of those who played these over and over again, out of context are nothing but racists, closet or otherwise, who sought for some traction as a way to undermine support for a candidate solely on the color of his skin. And I am including here the tabloid newsreaders, the talking head would-be pudits, as well as other candidates. All of them should be ashamed.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago

I like the idea of Christians arguing with each other about who is more hateful because of the sermons their pastors give. But let's not talk about what's in the book both their churches base their sermons on. There's all kinds of fun, dirty, hateful stuff in there. Fire and brimstone, stoning of spouses and children, an eternal swim in the lake of fire for eating a delicious pork chop or some tasty crab cakes, slavery, racism, and on and on and on. I don't think Hillary Clinton is going to stop claiming to be a Christian because she disagrees with those things, so she should shut her mouth about Obama.

Honestly, Clinton insults all people of faith because she denies the ability for critical thought amongst the faithful. Attending a church does not mean you agree with every word out of the mouths of that church's clergy.
  • lovelyinthemorning59 · 1 year ago
Hillary needs to go somewhere and sit down. The Reverend Wright was good enough to Counsel Bill. when he was asking for forgiveness for screwing Monica Lewskiny. and of course everybody makes mistakes. but Hillary, I have lost my faith in her, especially when they showed the Bosnia tape. I watch the debate when Hillary said, and I quote "I clearly remeber Bosnia, getting off the plane and having to duck down to avoid the bullets flying over there heads. And in her compassion speech saying that Esther was her favorite bible story. I was wating for her to say what was so significant about Esther that made it her favorite story. Well she never said why, and went around in circles. She lied. she didn't know, after all she said her mother started reading it to her at age 5.

WHO is behind the Barack Obama for President
    "moo-vement"?

........ GE ....and a gaggle of other corporate elitists.

Are a lot of working class Americans Bitter?

Well, they SHOULD be: Another GE candidate for President (SOLD to the public by the Corporate-Controlled "Mainstream MEDIA)...Ronald Reagan...began the MASSIVE Robbery of the American people that has continued to this day.

About every day the TV Talking heads say: "The Rich are getting richer and everybody else is getting poorer"

...& You'd Think...after nearly 30 years the NEWS People would FINALLY ASK: (& Answer) WHY?

The answer is simple: Reagan cut the top tax rate down from the 70%'s to the low 30%'s.

(If you made $100 million & your tax rate was 70% you would pay $70 million to Uncle Sam & keep $30 million...earning interest, or dividends THE NEXT YEAR on that $30 million. If, instead, you paid $30 million in taxes and KEPT $70 million-You'd make a lot MORE money the next year on that $70 million)

Simple: tax the rich a lot less AND they damn sure WILL get a whole lot richer a whole lot faster. There was 2 PARTS to Reaganomics tho. The second part was: "The Two-Tier Wage Structure"

i.e. Pay the Top level "executives" a Whole LOT MORE; Pay everybody else a Whole LOT LESS. (Newspapers & TV in the early 80's had articles & coverage of the "Two-Tier Wage Structure" that CORPORATE America trotted out IN CONCERT with Reagan's election & tax cuts.)

IF its CORPORATE POLICY to PAY Everybody else a WHOLE LOT LESS-everybody else is going to get-a whole lot poorer...huh?

    a. It was deliberate. b. Its been going on for nearly 30 years.

Next Question: Is Obama likely to fix it?
Answer: Hell No. Because THE SAME PEOPLE are running him for President - The SAME WAY they got Reagan/ Bush1 / Bush2 elected: MEDIA PROPAGANDA.

GE owns MSNBC & NBC. AOL Time Warner owns CNN. Westinghouse owns CBS. (GE is the 2nd largest corporation on the planet). They have interlocking directorships. THEY ARE the Corporate-Controllers of the Corporate-Controlled Media.

MSNBC/NBC have become the CHIEF propaganda mouthpieces of the Obama Pushers (BOPN-Barack Obama Propaganda Networks)-just like FOX has been the the Bush Propaganda Network all these years.

There are no more Journalists, no more NEWS People. They have all become court jesters & clowns doing their bit to please their corporate masters..Top Level..PAID A WHOLE LOT MORE---Media whores.

Here's a glimpse of ONE of the $Billions of TAXPAYER-RIPOFF-Reasons GE wants to "elect" Obama President: GE & Westinghouse are in the business of building nuclear power plants. GE & Westinghouse are planning to reap BILLIONS in RISK-FREE Profits from building those nukes, AND, from the $High Dollar electricity rates those nukes will produce. ( They're planning to build one of those nuclear power plants in Pennsylvania.)

The Cheney Energy Bill passed in 2005 - made it possible for the nuclear industry to begin planning to build 29 new nuclear power plants (licensing hearings are already scheduled for the first few of them).

No new nuke plants were built for 30 years because the banks wouldn't loan the money - too risky. The Cheney Energy Bill solved that problem by Guaranteeing TAXPAYER PAYBACK of any of the nuke loans that default (The Congressional Budget Office rated the risk of default at 50% or greater)

Obama voted FOR the Cheney Energy Bill. Clinton voted against. Clinton says her Energy plan does not include nuclear & if they want to be considered they will have to FIRST Make it Cheaper and find a safe way to dispose of the nuke waste.

McCain, this week on the Campaign trail said...we just have to face it we need to start building new, "CLEAN", nuclear power plants.

i.e. The Corporate Elitists are running OBAMA AND McCain for President.

("Getting off coal to go to nuclear is like giving up cigarettes to take up smoking crack".)
