AMERICAblog: WSJ: Vetting Bill is a "deal-breaker" for Hillary's VP chances

  • ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith) · 1 year ago
woo hoo, seems like Obama et al actually found a way to say no to Clinton and not seem like the bad guys. I visited a couple of pro-Clinton sites and even they seem OK with that explanation. I think most of that excuse is BS, but its BS that is easy to swallow so its a good move to circulate those rumors.

At any rate, I will be waiting with baited breath to see if Saturday goes the way it should. I won't believe this until I hear the words come out of her mouth, and even then I'd ask for a written statement to back it up if I were Obama!

Now, if Clinton truly comes on board and becomes a strong ally, McCain is pretty much toast.

what are the chances this would this have come up if she were the nominee?
  • ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith) · 1 year ago
it kind of did already. A lot of the pressure for her to release their tax records was because of all the secrecy they had about their business and financial transactions.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    You called it, Joe.

(I think I gave John the credit a couple threads ago.....I remember this prediction very clearly...except for the byline.....but, anyway, it was Ablog and you called it.)

What a surprise - the Clintons have a lot to hide, lol. Believe me, they have a lot more to hide than their financial records. Drudge has already reporting that Bill is still finding it hard to keep his pants zipped and some media outlets have the goods. The black cloud of corruption surrounding the Clintons is the last thing that Obama needs.

Keep that horrid woman away from Obama! She's a menace.

Obama can pick anyone he wants -black, white, male, female, Chinese, Eskimo.....the loser doesn't get to tell the winner what to do!

"Bill Clinton may balk at releasing records of his business dealings and big donors to his presidential library."

Those in the DC bubble pretty much agree that Bill and Hillary are now considered more corrupt and protective of their secrets then even Bush and his gang. The Clintons have a lot of dirty financial deals and questionable funding from corporate lobbyists. Obama can't afford to be associated with any of their massive scams. Bill's sexual immorality and Hillary's alleged lesbianism are the least of their worries. The Clintons have the seeds of major financial scandals all around them.

Thank goodness. Any reason to keep her off the ticket is a good one.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
So it was okay for her to run as president WITHOUT vetting her husband but Bill would need to be vetted for her to be Vice President. That doesn't make any sense, how did she think she was going to get around that/

The democratic party needs to put it's act together and end this mess and prevent Hillary from destroying the party. Seriously this is so unacceptable.

This is not about you Hillary it is about America

Wow. It was true way back when, it still seems true today. "Follow the money" has brought down/stopped many people from many things.

    Isn't that true, Hillary?

    Obama '08!

The antidote to the Clinton KoolAide is now in the public domain. The Clintons have done far more harm than they could ever correct. Their sleezy performance created the atmosphere that made Bush seem like a good choice. And never forget, Bill Clinton could have set HIS Justice Deptartment, voting rights div, on the Florida vote in 2000. Hillary Democrats are like abused children shielding their abusive parents from justice.

There was nothing surprising in this recent development as both Clintons would have to answer questions they would rather not. Like the connection between Bill and Marc Rich as well as Hillary's visit to a certain bank in the Carabean whose security cameras just happened to mal function when she walked in. Sooner or later the crap we're involved with catches up to us. Some call it bad karma. The break in of over 7,000 safe deposit boxes in England yesterday has a lot of people in the US shitting a brick.

If this is in fact what happened it was a very clever way to insure the Clinton's would not be on the ticket. Good strategic move.

I just hope she's really going to "suspend" her campaign and endorse Obama this Friday and Saturday.

As for VP, do we even know if she wants the job? Some of her supporters are campaigning for it, but that doesn't mean she wants it. Obama is more likely to offer her a cabinet post or some other role.
  • bumpkis · 1 year ago
I'm pretty sure Caroline KENNEDY would nix a VP slot for Clinton.
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
It's speculation whether or not she would nix Clinton over one really stupid, insensitive jawdropper remark. I think it would take more than that. But it's reassuring that Obama won't be pressured by Clinton's supporters into offering her the VP slot. As for Clinton's 18 million voters, whom she hoped to use as a bargaining chip, many are leaving to support Obama.

I can't imagine Bill forfeiting secrecy of his criminal business dealings in exchange for the chance to whack Barack Hussein to gain the presidency.
  • BillP · 1 year ago
Well I am confused by this headline. If Bill's issues prevent Hillary from being successfully vetted for VP, how was she gonna be President??

Nobody was going to "vet" the Clintons, as Hillary runs for President? Weird.

But if she has to be on Obama's ticket, Bill's details are a problem? Is Obama that strict?

This is one of the reasons why I didn't want Clinton to get the Democratic Party nomination, and why I don't want Obama to pick her as his running mate -- she simply has far too much baggage, and the GOP have a lot of ammunition which they wouldn't hesitate to throw at her. The question of whether most of these allegations are true or not is almost beside the point -- if the Clintons are not fully prepared to torpedo those accusations right out of the water, they will have served their purpose if they place enough doubt in the minds of voters to the point that they don't pull the lever or press the button. If you're being tried in court for a crime, you're only cutting your own throat if you conceal information from your attorney which you know would be damaging to your case -- because if this information comes up out of left field during the trial, your attorney will not have a strategy prepared with which to answer those allegations. Clinton's a lawyer -- surely she knows this. If the Clintons want Hillary to be Obama's running mate, they cannot afford to keep any secrets from him -- because it's a virtual certainty that at least some of this *will* come up in the next five months.

After seeing the commercials the Republicans are running use remarks made by Bill and Hillary and that are doing the Republicans' work for them, e.g. Obama does not pass the Commander in Chief Test, BUT Hillary and John McCain do, I think it is time for Obama to say, Sorry Hillary, you (and your uncontrollable husband) do not pass the Vice President test!
