Well, of course the vets are using a double standard! They consider Mrs. Cheney to be a proper Republican whose book is about patriotism -- it even has drawings of cute little children on the cover! -- while they probably consider the Time Magazine cover to be nothing more than the product of the lying liberal media intended to promote what they consider to be at best a dubious and highly controversial issue.

What's amazing is the picture is a posed photo op that's become sacred icon as if it was taken at the actual time of the raising of the flag. It wasn't. It was reposed and retaken several times, with a bigger flag than the first time. This was the most photogenic result.

I haven't read her book, but I am wondering if she writes in her book that to be patriotic you must be 1) Republican 2) not question anything 3) start wars with non Christians 4) Hate gays, unless you have a child that is one 5) Enslave the middle and lower classes, etc?

I understand Lynne Cheney wrote a book called "Sisters" with some hot lesbian action in it. But I am guessing this kid's book doesn't provide that tintillation. I don't think these vets have a leg to stand on. I may have participated in the most amazing event of the decade, but that doesn't give me the right to tell everyone they can't do a drawing of that event. These vets are just being silly, frankly.
But it's always fun to see rightwingers whining about other rightwingers.
