AMERICAblog: You can turn off NBC and MSNBC during the debates and elections

  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
Jesus Christ John, open your eyes. NBC and MSNBC are doing what they are being PAID to do, push republican propaganda... they didn't "fall" for anything. The "media" in this country has been doing this for decades, they are working for the GOP. Except for a few bones that get thrown (Olbermann) that make folks think it's still a semi-functioning "free press"....
  • chrisnyc · 1 year ago
if only we bothered to play the refs as much. we got our butts kicked last week and the new gallup poll shows it. I hope Team Obama is ready to play true hardball, we're down and the media is afraid of words form the RNC.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
See how the Republicans attack our strengths?
    Geeze.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
That's why i don't understand some of you guys watching CNN the last 2 weeks.
It's like you hate Wal-Mart...but you still go shopping there.

You like MSNBC ( Olbermann) but you got to CNN for the conventions.
    GEEZE.
  • shell · 1 year ago
Not me! I haven't watched CNN in months, and have't been to WalMart in 40 years. Of course, since I grew up in Oklahoma, I knew the story of WalMart 40 years ago.

But of course, you are correct. Most Americans like to whine about WalMart, but they still go. Imbeciles.

Americans want all this change, but they can't pass up saving $1.00. Most are cowards and have no backbone.

The fix appears to be in for November.
  • Styve · 1 year ago
Speaking of media manipulation, what happened to 60 Minutes tonight? It was scheduled to be on, but CBS is filling space with the US Open. I read somewhere that there was to be a segment on Palin's stonewalling the press.

Bunch of weaklings!! The Dems should mop the floor with these losers. The key is to stop the theft of the election.
  • gustavmahler · 1 year ago
filling space? its the womens final match lol. 60 minutes will be on after.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
GE/NBC/MSNBC, like Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac all love taxpayer dollars. In a sense W-2 wage earners wrk for GE in addition to their current employer..
  • Cornelius20 · 1 year ago
Disappointing, but I can't say I'm surprised by this decision. It was obvious what was going to happen last week when NBC/MSNBC sent Olbermann back to NYC. This only confirms that, as Chrisnyc just said, the Repubs have successfully worked the referees. I can understand NBC/MSNBC giving in, but reading that NY Times article is just as, if not more depressing (the traditional media's vaunted "objectivity" rearing its ugly head, once again).
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Get back at MSNBC and VOTE for Obama!
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
You are already talking to the converted cowboy. Here is the interesting thing. We must all make sure they are not trying to fire Keith Olberman. I think the republicans are trying to work on that. Keith has been so on target that it scares them. He calls like it is. Make all must make sure that doesn't happen. Even Chris is in play. The republicans didn't like the way he pinned them down either.
  • shell · 1 year ago
I somehow knew this would come eventually. Now we can't have anyone to the left of Dick Cheney being on the air, can we?

David Gregory? The one who danced with Karl Rove? Oh, he's not biased, is he? What a tool.

Do they think we're stupid? Of course.

I was looking forward to Keith's coverage of the debates. Now I won't be watching.

I am dead serious -- today, I can tell you what questions NBC will ask at the debate, and predict the commentary. And I am hardly a genius or a clairvoyent -- it's so obvious a 4th grader could do it.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
gallup has those bastards up by 3 in the polls.

I cannot believe NBC caved in!
  • chrisnyc · 1 year ago
the gallup one-day shot sponsored by USAtoday has it at a 10% lead for Team Evil. For the first time, I really think we're going to lose. I never thought it would be easy, but now I think we're done. Someone, in some other fashion than plain cheerleading, help me.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Nope, the only way we can win is for our party to get mean. I don't think our party has the capability to throw punches, and its the only thing the "American Idol" voters who vote for President understand. Bill Maher said it best, "Americans deserve the leaders we are getting..." Our nation is doomed.
  • iWoman · 1 year ago
It's just a false bump from the convention.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
You can call them all the names you want, but the name of the game is winning elections, not HOW you win them.

On November 6, do you want to be blogging how damn bad you feel about losing another election because the Dems didn't have the balls AGAIN to fight fire with fire.

The republicans pull all the nasty tricks and we point fingers at them, call them names, say they are the bad guys, and they WIN.

But we'll feel better because we fought the battle the right way....SORRY, BUT THAT'S BULLSHIT!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I'm thinking the only way we will win is to rise up and show the Republican media and those in charge we won't stand for them "gaming us" anymore. They have to know we aren't happy and not willing to be silent this time. Its time for MARCHES like the Civil Rights marches in the 1960's otherwise, I'm thinking we are going to have eight more years of disaster.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Who covers the voting machine fraud?
  • Deacon_Blues · 1 year ago
CBN, I think if we lose this election, there won't BE any more elections, and least not any more real ones.
  • shell · 1 year ago
Have the last 2 been REAL?

The only way the Dems won Senate and House seats is because the GOP can't game the system in all states. But they can do it in a presidential election.
  • shell · 1 year ago
Yeah, that worked so well in St. Paul.

Face it -- they thought ahead and we are doomed.

It is not too late IF the majority of Americans act. But they won't. Jesus! They even make excuses for still shopping at WalMart! Do you really think the Good German Americans are going to actually DO anything?

I don't. Yes, it is great to have the blogs to let off steam, but even if every single blogger acts, itisn't nearly enough.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    Unbelievable......just totally unbelievable.....

    Screw you MSNBC...
  • Deacon_Blues · 1 year ago
If we win this election, or maybe I should say IF we can keep the MSM and the Republicans from stealing this election -- IF -- we need to go after the media next. How we can change them, or bring them down, I don't know. But we have to do something. I haven't given up, not by a long shot, and I think Obama's a fighter. We've got two months. Let's get to work!
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    True....I don't know what either.....but something...and soon!
  • grandma · 1 year ago
The only people who are not afraid to speak truth are Olberman , Maddow and Cafferty...

The rest are a bunch of gas bags.

This country is now officially corrupt
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
G, this country was officially corrupt around the time Washington crossed the Potomac
  • decotodd · 1 year ago
This is pathetic and utterly spineless on the part of NBC/MSNBC. And what about the CNN headline -- "Is Obama the Anti-Christ?" Gee that was real journalism compared to a Palin/McCain housing comment.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Ya know, it really pisses me off to hear that, "lets go to work" crap. I have been and I am. I'm donating a lot of money and I'm volunteering and see a lot of people who are doing the same. The bigger issue is wondering if there is a fighting spirt at higher levels of the campaign and in the Democratic Party that match such enthusiasm
  • erykah · 1 year ago
Well, you can cry about it or do something about it. I didn't watch the MSM during the convention I watch C-span. So, we can sit back and cry about the GOP and that's why we get ur asses beat. They have been doing this forever and yet the dems haven't figured out how to beat this motherfuckers at their wn game. Shame.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
The only way to beat them is to support grass movement "take our media back" marches and rallies. I'd gladly attend! We need to protest the HELL out of this decision.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
If this is a no win for Dems, they are finished, at least for me and many others.
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
If the Dems don't win this one, we're dead as a country. This I know.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
The country we used to know is already dead. We just don't know it yet.

  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    No more FREEDOM OF SPEECH!

Remember, they hate us for our freedoms. If a news anchor tries to tell the truth they get fired.

Here is what the media really wants from their newsreaders. They want people to say what the corporations want "on-air" and then talk about the truth when they think they are "off-air:"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrG8w4bb3kg

I'm still waiting for NBC to explain this one? Why haven't they done a news story on all the HITS on this? Why are they silencing this outrageous example of how they work to manipulate the viewers.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
McCain is as big an effin phony as Bush.

And he is no more a hero than any other soldier who has served in uniform...
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Bush is not a phony. He is stupid fucking priviliged drunk punk. He never really preteneded to be anything more. He just threw a little Jesus Christ into the mix and the stupid fucking repubs swallowed his load for two elections. Here we sit as a result.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
No, maybe they should have a strategy that includes targeting how segments of the population they want "think". And do things that appeal to them. Yes, and maybe twist arms to get media, etc. to treat them favorably. I don't really give a damn what it takes, short of illegal activity. Seriously. Game on.
  • Lobot · 1 year ago
I know this may not do any good at all, but is there anyone at NBC we can send an angry letter to and demand that Oblermann get back on the air? I don't want them to think their pandering and spinelessness is going unnoticed.
  • twiz · 1 year ago
Of course the fix is in. In swing-state Colorado, the Republican Secretary of State conducted the biggest purge of voters in history, dumping a fifth of all registrations. Guess their color.
In swing-state Florida, the state is refusing to accept about 85,000 new registrations from voter drives – overwhelming Black voters.
In swing state New Mexico, HALF of the Democrats of Mora, a dirt poor and overwhelmingly Hispanic county, found their registrations disappeared this year, courtesy of a Republican voting contractor.
In swing states Ohio and Nevada, new federal law is knocking out tens of thousands of voters who lost their homes to foreclosure.

You know, I'm a white, male, 40ish attorney who will do well under any administration. I am so fucking tired of hearing about how Palin changes things and Dems are so sexist. If you vote for McCain you vote against yourself and your country. Fuck you. If he wins you deserve what you get. I will do well anyway. I know who I want to help, though.
  • shell · 1 year ago
"If he wins, you deserve what you get."

True. But, unlike many, many blog writers, I know this has been going on a LONG time. It didn't just happen when Bush came to office. In the 80s, I worked at an HMO. Starting then, I tried as hard as I could to warn Americans that we should be single-payer health care. (NO INSURANCE INVOLVED.) It is not until now that many Americans sort of get it. (But they still will go for "reform." With the health insurance companies involved.)

I will say it yet again -- the medical situation in America will never be fixed until the health insurance companies are GONE.

And if I offend anyone who works for an insurance company, too bad. Businesses who made horseshoes fought automobiles, too. You have had more than enough time to get a clue -- and a new profession.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Look, really, all Republicans are phonies. They have wanted to tell people how to dress, love, think, who to have sex with, when to have babies, who to have them with, when to get married, who to marry, where to live, who to live with . . . UNTIL life changes things for THEM. Then they get all warm and runny about how liberals are so vile to them.

    GIVE ME A BREAK.

I have a whole family of 'em and you can have 'em, I don't want 'em.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
NY Times didn't even bother putting the word "incendiary" in quotes. I guess if that so-called liberal bastion says Olbermann is INCENDIARY they think those of us who are independent thinkers are going to believe them? LOL! Yea... right.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
I'll be lucky to make it to November without some sort of psychotic break or aneurysm at this break...
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
    Need you here. Stay well.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Meant to say "at this RATE". Ha, and so it begins! LOL!

I guess it just gets so frustrating sometimes because it seems like so many people are just so stupid. What was the headline after Bush got reelected? How can 52,000,000+ people be so dumb? Haven't we learned? All I can do is keep up the fight, I volunteer with my local Dem party as I can, I have my yard signs up, I post in all sorts of places, I send emails AND letters to Media outlets.

I'm hoping the debates start clearing some people's heads, but I also fear the opposite.
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
I hear ya--I'm sitting here with blisters on my feet from wearing the wrong shoes today when I went out canvassing. Two weeks ago, I wore shorts and sneakers. Today I thought I'd go my old lady Brooks Brothers look--the bible humpers here are very scary. Well didn't meet any crazies today but I'm going to gave to figure how to combine BB and sneakers!
  • bish8 · 1 year ago
I have been saying all along that the media will win or lose this election for us. This makes me ill. The only person that I can even think to help us is Oprah. She is rich and somewhat powerful and is an Obama supporter. There must be something she can do. Okay...I am getting desparate.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
I don't mean to tell you what to do, but instead of getting angry, get an Obama button, or bumper sticker or both. Volunteer two hours a week, if you can. Tell the campaign you need Obama and Biden to fight back. Send them emails. Call the campaign office if you can't volunteer. It does work.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
I thought of Oprah too....after the lies both Drudge and Brokaw today spread about her.

She did not want her show to be a political platform....but maybe in the pursuit of truth and freedom she will fight.

THIS SHOULD GET US MOVING FOLKS! Keith Olbermann spoke the truth and was punished for it. He speaks the truth for at least HALF of America and for those of us who are independent thinkers. We should PROTEST the hell out of this. We should march in the street, protest McCain/Palin for whining about Olbermann, and have picket lines in front of MSNBC. This should be a call to arms. Keith Olbermann was the only reason I watched MSNBC because I felt like we the people were finally seeing "the other side." We can't just take this lying down. We can't have Freedom of Speech if we allow the media to just fire reporters who speak the truth to us! "Incendiary" my ass! Hell yea, its incendiary to speak the truth and they know it. The opposite of incendiary is speaking sweet nothings to the viewers and waiting to think you are off air and then telling your co-horts what you REALLY think.

I will be watching CNN or Cspan but, I refuse to watch that lapdog, gop tool Gregory. I sent an email to that effect tonight and I did tell them I will not be watching them.
I told them I cannot stand that lapdog Gregory and his shallow, Washington insider drivel.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
I can't stand Gregory either.....I immediately switch channels when he is on......he is useless.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I know what Obama / Biden should do. They should do a NEWS BLACKOUT until Olbermann gets rehired!

They should demand FOX NEWS fire Brit Hume or they will NOT answer any more questions from the press. Its time to play hardball. There is too much at stake.

That's a bit like monks burning themselves.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago

  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
What if we call MSNBC and tell them WE won't watch them till Olberman comes back?
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
    Did people read the article?

The ONLY thing that has changed is that Olberman and Matthews won't be ANCHORING the debate/election night coverage.

They will still be PART of their coverage, just not anchors.

Almost certainly Rachel Maddow will be on as well.

People really need to get a grib before they fly off the handle.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
I think most understand that. It is the reason for the shuffle.
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
Olbermann will do what Bill O'Reilly does on Fox News - he'll be around for segments of their coverage, but not anchor.

Really, this is not at all the big deal people are making it out to be.

He looked really awkward last week trying to balance his anchoring and pundit roles. He'll probably be better with this format.
  • Fair · 1 year ago
I guess you are right, this is a blessing in disguise.
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
Yeah, I was actually thinking it might be better this way. During the RNC anchor spot, KO had to hold his tongue except for his very timely corrections everytime a floor bimbo would interview a lying repig. As an 'analyst' he'll be able to let loose and will probably take great pleasure in smacking down Gregory.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
This is one of the mildest recessions ever. The country is in great shape. The housing market is rebounding. People are finding jobs. The threats from overseas won't mean crap once we drill for our own oil. Why would a voter want to risk that to vote for a communist community organizer from the south side of chicago?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
As a moderator, I ought to delete you just to let you experience what has happened to Keith Olbermann and those of us who believe what he has to say. You are a typical Republican. You read a post about Olbermann getting censored and removed from the air for daring to speak the truth then come on here to provoke us with the above comment. Do you think I should remove your comment because its "incendiary" or do you think I should let it remain?

Hmmmm.... thats right. We Democrats aren't afraid of Freedom of Speech and Expression because we know if it exists then the truth will overcome. You Republicans on the other hand have to SUPPRESS alternate views via Freedom of Speech in order to FORCE bullshit down the throats of Americans.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Cowboy, I think you should do what you want to do. I wasn't even responding to the Olberman problem. I don't have cable. I've never seen Olberman. I do think, however that you have as much or more of a "journalistic" bent for truth than most of the morons that I've seen on either side of the equation on my outmoded TV.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
But you didn't answer Cowboy's question. You know that you have said things that would be considered provacative, should he censor you? I am glad he doesn't because it stops the flow of conversation and then we would be left with only one "side". Same thing on MSNBC, one strong anchors gets censored because Scarborough and McCain's doesn't like it??
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    Yes, read "aquarius2" response, "Busboy"

THAT is my point exactly. We don't censor you even though I betcha about 99% of the posters on the site see you as a Kool-Aid drinker of the worst kind.

Why is NBC?MSNBC catering to this line of intimidation. Make no mistake about this, Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson, BOTH HIGHLY PARTISAN, have instIgated this. At the Dem convention Scarborough got pissed off when Olberman said " Jesus, Joe, get a shovel." I think McCain's campaign jumped on Carlson's and Scarbough's the bandwagon.

Leaning Republican---- Gregroy, Scarborough and his idiot sidekick, Mika, Mitchell, Campbell BRown (now on CNN) and Kelly O'Donnell

    Leaning Democratic-----Olberman Maddow

    Earth to posters here:

Joe Scarborough is NOT an MSNBC news election anchor as far as I know.

Olbemann will now be in the same position as Scarborough - a contributor,, and one who has his own shown.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Oh damn, I didn't even think of that. Foreclosesure as a disqualifier for voter registration. Is that possible? So, is the scenario possible that thousands of people at the lower end of the economic scale, who have been foreclosed on would not be able to vote and/or register again because of foreclosure/relocation?

    I dunno. Just a thought.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Relocation yes, foreclosure no as a vote disqualifier.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
But relocation can be used to cage the voter.

""In 2004, BBC reporter Greg Palast obtained two e-mails -- prepared for the executive director of the Bush campaign in Florida and the campaign's national research director -- that listed '1,886 names and addresses of voters in predominantly black and traditionally Democrat areas' of the Jacksonville, FL Naval Air Station. Palast explains:

"Here's how the scheme worked: The RNC mailed these voters letters in envelopes marked, 'Do not forward', to be returned to the sender. These letters were mailed to servicemen and women, some stationed overseas, to their US home addresses. The letters then returned to the Bush-Cheney campaign as 'undeliverable.'

"The lists of soldiers of 'undeliverable' letters were transmitted from state headquarters, in this case Florida, to the RNC in Washington. The [Republican] party could then challenge the voters' registration and thereby prevent their absentee ballots being counted." [3]"

If you've got CBC as an option on your cable, you might give it a try.
They cover American politics better than American networks. Oh , and they haven't forgotten there are wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And that there is a 'rest of the world'.
  • SkippyFlipjack · 1 year ago

I think people are going to look back on the Monica Lewinsky affair as the historic moment the news networks failed finally and permanently. The OJ car chase was a sick prelude, but the year or so that the Infotainment Industry joined with the fascists to out and out destroy the President of the United States over a semen stain has got to be the milestone. I haven't seen anything since that leads me to think the networks don't have their snouts completely in the trough.

    OT

I am formally complaining about United Airlines! Anyone thinking about flying United give it a second thought. I had to fly to St. Louis this weekend and leaving Denver was like something like out of the Harry Potter books. Remember gate 91/2?? Well, apparently DIA has an almost gate 91/2, it is actually gate 71 used by United's "regional" aircraft. After walking for damn near 2 miles you go through a door THIINKING you are getting on a ramp to the plane, but no, you walk down some stairs ( or take the elevator if you are about dead from walking) and then face another long corridor. THEN you walk on the tarmac and board by climbing up some steep steps (especially if you have knee problems). Ah, still breathing and without having a coronary you look at the cabin which vaguely resembles a sardine can. The plane is called, I think, Embraer and if you are claustrophobic, NEVER consider flying this aircraft.

There should be warnings about finding this gate and then flying in a sardine can.

Ed and Mitch at Hot Air interviewed Doug, a volunteer driver who worked for the Republican National Convention Committee in St. Paul. The summary ...
-- According to Doug, MS-NBC apparently took no chances on questions from the crowd. Rather than get caught with a question that might make Republicans look good, their producer pre-screened questioners, and Chris Matthews pretended it was random.
-- Republicans were good tippers. MS-NBC stiffed the drivers.
-- Media people talked in the cars about how effective the Republican convention turned out to be, while publicly saying something else entirely.

lets see. which channel to watch it on..

    NBC/MSNBC are out.
Fox is Fox, so they are out.
CNN is the Glenn Beck network, so they are out.
ABC was the one where they had the horrible debate and the 9/11 Bush kissass movie, so they are out.

I went there and signed and was then asked for a donation. Just be aware that if you want to sign this petition, you have to pay to do so.
  • JustAnOldLady · 1 year ago
I meant to reply to your comment (see above). I signed without sending a donation and it was recorded on the petition.
  • JustAnOldLady · 1 year ago
I signed and did not make a donation. My name has been registered without the donation.
  • shell · 1 year ago
I didn't donate either and my name was added.

I would have donated if I knew this wasn't just a generic place, and next week, they may sponsor a petition on some right-wing topic.

Interesting reading these comments about Keith and Chris getting shoved out. You should all know that Brokaw had a big hand in this. He thinks he is king of NBC and guess he is right. He doesn't like Keith because we all like Keith and can't stand Brokaw. Egos are part of the problem here. And include Brian Williams with Brokaw. So now we get 'Howdy Doody' Gregory. Things are getting worse every day. Time for Obama and Biden to start playing the same game as Palin/McCain/Bush/Cheney/Rove. And why isn't Rove in jail???? We wouldn't be having all of these problems if he was.

It is truly mind boggling the way Palin is being kept in seclusion, only let out to speak to "chosen" msm. Her keeper, Rick Davis, this morning said she won't be available for talk shows to answer any questions until they are ready to put her out there. End of story. We can throw all the shit we have at her and none of it will stick; Davis will make sure of that.

We only have two months left and we haven't even begun to fight. But it is probably too late now. Get ready folks for war in Iran, the draft, more tax cuts for the rich and tax increases for the lower classes, the end of Social Security as we know it, the end of Medicare as we know it. I have said for years, who is going to pay all the bills when the middle class is destroyed. We are about to find out!

Hard to believe America is ready to support a senile old man and a 2nd place beauty queen to run the country...........we will be the confirmed laughing stock of the entire world.........
  • shell · 1 year ago
True -- and what's more -- up until recently, many countries laughed at us, but not out loud because of the $$$ we gave them.

Now that Bush has made us a debtor nation, and the US has no more $$$, it will get much louder. As you can see, now no one will object to China.

America deserves it, though -- most Americans love shopping til they drop, or watching American Idol rather than paying attention.

Where do we go for news now?
Olbermann and Matthews were removed as anchors because they are liberal leaning??
No one questions the right to continue the multitude of right-leaning anchors, (except for Olbermann.) No one even cares that the news, particularly Fox News, is not news - nor is it the truth.
The group with whom I talk on a regular basis, admittedly Democrats, have been talking about what a breath of fresh air it was to have someone speaking the truth and not mincing words. Everyone was delighted with the coverage provided by Matthews and Olbermann.
Four years ago, I gave up on mainstream media - that is, until I heard Olbermann. I guess it is time to give up on it again. I certainly can't support MSNBC, if they haven't the spine to stand up to the McCain/Palin machine.
I am fascinated by the complaints about liberal media. There is no liberal media! There is no voice for nearly half of our population, because mainstream media is owned by Republicans and the media says, "How high" when Republicans say, "Jump."
I had developed some respect, as had my friends, for MSNBC. I have lost it now. Back to NPR, the Internet, and foreign news sources. Everything else is propaganda.

    Gals, guys, friendsters, Americablog compadres:

We MUST fight like we have never have before. I am in California, so I know we will win here in this state. HOWEVER, I have been telling EVERY Obama supporter here in our great state that we MUST help the key states, thanks to cell phones, we can!

Tonight I saw this young African American at the Abbey, and I told him about this. And he said, YES! He is already planning to help with PHONE BANKS IN KEY STATES to ensure the republiCONs do not steal the election once again.

We WILL win - but only if we all do our part. If you are in state like CA where Obama will win, reach out to other states via the Democratic Party, MoveOnOrg, or other progressive organizations and do your part.

You ... We WILL make a difference, if and only if, we decide to something.

    OBAMA/BIDEN 2008!

Chuck Todd, the supposedly neutral MSNBC political drector, is one of the most right-wing partisan hacks on TV. Didn't anyone else see the YouTube video (that over one million people have seen) with Todd, Mike Murphy, and Peggy Noonan? At least Keith and Chris were honest and not two-faced like Todd.
  • justndav · 1 year ago
Im not surprised this happened after seeing Keith in NY last week during the crooks-white convention. Chris was seemingly acting more open minded regarding the republicans too. He thought it was a great speech by McCain and I was scratching my head.
Now we have this damn USA Today poll that is a bit concerning regarding McCain taking a lead for the first time. This is just not good news. I dont know how Obama could have been more specific and McCain less specific but somehow the guy who gave basically no ideas for how he plans to govern is ahead?? What the hell is going on here?
The future of this country is in grave danger, look for the voter rolls to be purged in heavily democratic areas in key swing states and then the controversies about the blacks who cant vote also in swing states. People are going to say we cannot win on issues so we look for a reason to claim fraud but its happened before.
I could see Barack maybe picking up Iowa and maybe New Mexico and thats it.
Just saw again on the news McCain ahead in that poll, an 11 point turn around in a week. We better start preparing for President McCain, jesus christ Im going to throw up.

But Pat Buchanan will remain? If we take everyone left of center off the air, McCain/Palin will make it to the oval office. What a scary thought.

The WaPo headline is misleading... farther down in the article that actual reasons are revealed:

Olbermann and Matthews will remain as analysts during major political events, and officials at both networks, who declined to be identified discussing personnel moves, said Olbermann had initiated the discussions to clarify his role. They said Olbermann's influence at MSNBC would in no way be diminished and that the shift would enable him and Matthews to offer more candid analysis during live coverage. Olbermann confirmed yesterday he had initiated the discussions.

I think it's a good move... Olbermann needs to be given a role where he can let loose and not jeopardize the networks position and if he doesn't have to hold his tongue as anchor then that's a good thing.

I AM VERY SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE FATE THAT HAS BEFALLEN KEITH OLBERMAN AND CHRIS MATTHEWS. I AM NOT PREPARED TO SHED A TEAR FOR THEM HOWEVER, SINCE IN MY OPINION, THEY HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO BALANCE THE NEWS ON THE PROGRESSIVE SIDE, AND THEY BLEW IT. INSTEAD OF REMAINING NUETRAL DURING THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARIES, AS THEY SHOULD HAVE; HILLARY CLINTON WAS THOROUGHLY THRASHED BY THEM AND OTHER PROGRESSIVES. HER PRIMARY SIN WAS, HER VOTE TO AUTHORIZE THE WAR IN IRAQ AND FOR NOT WANTING TO APOLOGISE FOR THAT VOTE. I WAS AT TIMES SO DISGUSTED WITH WHAT I WAS WATCHING FROM THOSE TWO MEN, THAT I OFTEN HAD TO TURN TO THE COMPETITION. OFTEN IT WAS PAT BUCHANAN WHO CAME TO HGER DEFENCE. IMAGINE THAT
